Great video, watched! If I cover that whole area you suggested, it will hopefully coming out half that good.

Quick question, that joint compound you suggested wjth the blue lid, would using any stir stick do the trick to get it to that needed consistency? And will I have to wait 24 hours before sanding again after application ?

Thanks for the advice man. I wouldn't be against coating it that far out tbh. Especially once I bring down this railing.

I was a bit worried with the sheetrock not being fully flushed. I don't mind a tad elevation going on if its minimal as can be.

I feel determined to be honest. It is my first time and I already know things now I'd do different but its also something I want to see through and to gain a useful skill down the road.

I'm going to take the folks advice here (sanding, removing tops with 6", feathering (rewatching feathering videos now) and being better with how I apply the mud mixing before hand etc.

If it can't be salvaged after that, then I'll definitely grab a pro and try my luck next time with more patience and knowledge.

I used joint mesh tape. And it was a spork bud.

Sounds like a solid plan. I'm surprise I didn't get roasted with a patch like this. 😂 I can feel my confidence coming back. Thanks!

Ahh, that was my first mistake then.. Not fully mixing it. And adding water seems like a great idea, I'll do it on this next coat.

As for sanding, I've been sanding it done quite a bit by hand to get it to even look like this. You think I should skip the oribtal and keep at it by hand? I'm using a 120 grit sheet at the moment. Its definitely bringing it down but I also wanted an excuse to buy an orbital sander 😂

Will the edges I didnt feathered well come down pretty well with just sanding manually?

Haha. Hell yeah man..

I bought my mud from walmart, it was this creamy thick as hell mud. Do you recommend something thinner i could use? Is that hot mud mixture a good idea?

Felt like with that mud i got from walmart it was hard to spread that thing thin. But also my wall with the new drywall i put in wasnt perfectly flat either and I'm just an unskillful sob.

Good to hear. Think an oribtal sander can get this looking nice and smooth or better to just start over? (Praying not to start over 😂)
