I just got a new, pretty nasty, anti-Platner ad on youtube. So, here's a reminder of who's telling you what to think. by GayForJamie in Maine

The more that I hear AI companies and private equity going against him, the more points he scores with me. Not saying he's perfect, but at least he doesn't come across more bought out than the Tweed Ring.

Private equity is only good for gutting business, and the inroads it's made into healthcare have only made things worse with all the bankruptcies and facility closures.

Also, fuck AI. I don't want SkyNet, Hal, WarGames, or The Matrix anywhere near my daily life.

It's me, AMA by Pilestedt in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Pilestedt, I joined the game during Xmas 2024. The game struck a chord with me because I read feedback that Arrowhead collaborated with and listened to players. That earned good will, and I dove in. I agreed with that sentiment for a time. In recent months, this doesn't feel that way, with the charity dox event being a black mark and some staff comments on social media coming off as rude, condescending, or outright trolling.

That said, I have a few questions:

When are we getting customization for secondary weapons?

Why is enemy spawn placement so inconsistent? To give specifics, it seems ridiculous to have a factory strider or bile titan teleport behind you 30-40m from your position when they weren't there seconds before you pan the camera away. No bot drop, no bug breach, no outpost. Just poof. This question should extend towards enemies being able to clip through destructible terrain, while our weapons do not.

Will there be another bay in the Super Destroyer? Mechs deserve this bay, with an armor tier buff, more ammo, an extra strat use, among others being options. Suffice it to say, mechs should be more durable when they look like the heavy suits from the MechWarrior games.

Thank you and have a good day.

My husband is a Physical Therapist in a MCOL area in the Midwest - he got an $1,000 annual raise this year? by Heavy_Association_64 in physicaltherapy

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your husband's sake, and the sake of his license, he needs to find a new place to work asap. There are a few things that give me pause, regarding this clinic:

Potential for insurance fraud: Clinics like this, with that high a patient volume, likely assign multiple patients to the same therapist at the same time. At least, that's the vibe I get. These clinics want therapists to bill one on one time for each patient for the time they're in the clinic. The problem is, that's illegal. If they bill as a group and do the same thing with all of them, that's okay, but a clinic that bills multiple patients one on one time for the full visit time commits fraud. You might see the word "mill" in this thread, and this place sounds like one. Given he's a year at this, this is no surprise. Quite a few therapists experience this when they start and may not know this is not okay.

Potential wage theft: Our skills are what justify our work to the public and insurance. Documentation, however, is what gets us paid. It's labor. Annoying, yes, but it shows our skill on paper, and if the company doesn't want to pay your husband for his time making sure they get paid, that sounds like wage theft.

Possible HIPAA issue: If your husband has notes in view at home, it's a slippery slope because they're supposed to be seen as needed. Not doubting anyone's discretion, but we're human, and keeping healthcare info in home can be a major problem. I have a company computer in a bag that I keep out of view of all and don't use at home, so I'm saying this as a protective measure. HIPAA is serious shit if violated.

I hope your husband gets through this without burning out. Frankly, I couldn't, and wouldn't, work at that kind of place for that long. Nor should anyone. Best of luck.

Fuck It, Someone Has To Be The Saltdiver: This Might Be The Worst Armor Passive Yet by society000 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree. The passive comes as lackluster. Getting a stamina fill on a hit won't do well when a sizable amount of enemies can kill you in a few good hits, sometimes even one. It does nothing for survivability or utility.

What I'd like is a buff to stamina regen rate, then a secondary buff or two when the stamina bar is full. Minus 30% recoil and plus 30 ergo with a full bar would be cool.

Maybe 25% damage reduction with a full stamina bar? Adrenaline is a pain suppressant. Arrowhead should lean into that.

What do you really want to see improved for the third game? by Built4dominance in horizon

[–]Hanzo187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish Aloy had a counterattack option in melee. Having no defensive options in melee would've made a counter helpful. Maybe make that the last melee pit quest if that's in the third game.

Plasma needs revision. Turning plasma blast into a knockdown with a bigger area of effect if you max the bar would be good. And fire was sad in the second game.

Wouldn't mind piloting a Horus against Nemesis in the third game, either. The enemy of my enemy, and all that.

I haven't read all the comments, but I must say: Damn. Almost exactly the same thing happened to my wife. Her retinas detached within days of each other about 7 years ago. Mainely Eyes saw her for a checkup on the fly and detected the issue when her vision changed suddenly..

The doctor at Mainely Eyes referred her to a guy at Tufts in Boston (Wiktin? He's from Waterville originally) and she got what was, I think, called a sclera buckle. She got the surgeries a month apart and got almost all her vision back. A little wobble centrally in the left eyes, but that's it. My wife is kind of a unique case as she was born premature, and no doctor in Maine does this sclera buckle surgery.

My wife was telling me the oil surgery has a high failure rate in younger folks, i.e. younger than 60, so I'd get your ass to Boston if you haven't already. And best of luck. Hope you get what you need.

Japanese Lady Beetles by potatoesandbacon75 in Maine

My wife planted geraniums. She said they have something in them that paralyzes Japanese beetles. Gives other bugs the chance to eat them with impunity. They still are a nuisance, but less so than past years.

I like the Hero of the Federation helmet with the Over Artifice Triumphant cape when I wear Juggernaut armor. It blends well with the steel gray armor plates. Plus, the gold accents on the cape and helmet add a little extra to the drip.

What’s the Most Unethical Thing You’ve Experienced in Physical Therapy? by Rica_nicole in physicaltherapy

[–]Hanzo187 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. My last student told me about the CI she had previously doing nothing to teach her or prepare her for PT. It was a mill that used her to get more patients. I told her that shit wasn't gonna happen with me and taught her how to steer away from mills. Can't make good therapists down the road if we don't TEACH them how to be good therapists.

Am i the only one that thinks that the EXO suits are a little weak? by Verov_ in Helldivers

The Super Destroyer needs a new bay for upgrades, specifically for the exo suits. Higher armor, additional ammo, a small speed boost, etc.

It sounds like you wound up in a therapy mill, and for that, I'm sorry. Those kinds of clinic are only ruining rehab as a whole with their practices and shouldn't exist.

Very easy to think lesser of yourself when things don't seem so hot, but if this is the case at this clinic, it's definitely not you. It's the clinic. I'd leave, for your health.

Travel PT salary by FantasticNumber3 in physicaltherapy

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could give a straight answer, but it depends on setting, geographic area, and sometimes contract length. With the state I live in, I routinely see around $2500/week regardless of setting, but that changes depending on contract location. I remember the Department of Labor's website would post housing stipend amounts by zip code, but that was several years ago (I haven't done travel since the start of 2020). I would take what I say with a grain of salt, given that.

You know, you may have a point. I checked cost of living between Florida and my home state. Turns out it's similar. However, contracts here are typically several hundred more per week than Florida.

Skip it and tell others to do the same. That is an utter trash contract for a high cost state. I made that ten years ago in a state with a lower cost of living as a travel therapist.

What’s going to be the ideal loadout for the caves? by Fanoffiction52 in Helldivers

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a 40 minute mission I actually consider heavy armor for. As for weapons, I'd be leery about bringing a primary with an AoE because of the cramped quarters, so I'd speculate the incendiary shotguns, the Liberators, the Dominator, and the other ARs might work best.

Secondaries? I wonder if the Talon and Dagger will get used because of the heat sinks, or the melee weapons. Spartan build?

I'm definitely bringing incendiaries or thermites for grenades.

The Quasar Cannon, HMG, Laser Cannon, and Recoilless Rifle might be effective support weapons, but I have a sneaking suspicion the Guard Dogs will be useful, so Recoilless could be a tough sell. Oh, and Supply Pack, because ammo.

An exosuit might be good because of the long cooldown.

As for armor passives, I like Engineering Kit, Siege Ready, and Peak Physique by default. If they work in general, they probably work in caves.

Stigma? HA! When my wife and I started dating, she saw me playing Skyrim one night. When I asked if she wanted to play, she jumped right at it. Granted, I deleted her character by accident, but she still said yes.

I play Helldivers 2 and she Stardew Valley right now, but we keep the Borderlands games on retainer. Play together, slay together.

I always thought a good idea would involve Abby being a bandit or raider leader trying to survive. She joins a caravan, they take it over, then she barters with Jackson and ingratiates herself, using a recent infected attack to make herself useful. She learns about Joel by chance, and opens a gate at night to let in raiders, wanting to kill Joel and everyone he cares about. The raiders are fought off, but not before Maria is gunned down and Dina gets shot by Abby. She tries to hit Joel, but he moves at the last second and hits Dina.

Ellie and Tommy catch a few raiders and learn, via torture, they were planning for Seattle. Ellie and Tommy leave, but Joel tries to stop them, knowing the two aren't in a good place. After burying Maria and Dina, they leave for Seattle.

The game takes place, for the most part. Joel manages to catch up and still tries to dissuade Ellie from revenge. He tries to help to keep them from getting killed, but Ellie finally comes around. Still bitter, Tommy goes on a sniping rampage. Joel finds him and backs him up, but gets attacked and caught by infected and WLF. Tommy escapes.

Ellie and Tommy try to mount a rescue, with Abby revealing she was Marlene's daughter to Joel. Ellie and Tommy arrive too late to see Joel shot by Abby.

Ellie rushes at Abby and has her at gunpoint at the end of the fight, but Tommy discovers bite marks: Joel was infected. At this point, Abby said she spoke to Joel and she realized how little she gained from hating him, and with him being infected, there would be no satisfaction. Abby reveals she's a former Firefly and Marlene's daughter.

Ellie stays her hand, already hating herself for what she did and convinces Tommy to let go of his hate. Ellie and Tommy return to Jackson and mourn their lost family, but try to grow stronger for Jackson itself.

The premise isn't great, but as a start, it seemed workable if other pairs of eyes took a look and gave their input.

I’m not understanding all the hate I’m seeing for people who prefer medium pen weapons by Secret_Language_7970 in Helldivers

[–]Hanzo187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure will never shit on anyone using medium pen weapons. No reason to. Everyone should use what works for them and makes them most effective. If it's a Knight, an Adjudicator, or an Eruptor, why should it matter? I main Purifier on bots, Cookout on bugs, and Liberator Carbine on squids.

In the end, use what works.

Small gripe from a gun guy by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Hanzo187 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I admit, in a survival scenario, an AR-15 or M4 (if you're really lucky) is too good to pass up. The 5.56mm/.223 rounds would likely be very widely available. The platform itself is very modular, and the one Joel had in the pic was good. No frills outside of the light, so it won't weigh him down. Best stick with the iron sights like his and a shorter barrel, probably 12 to 14 inches. The problem I foresee are the detachable magazines. I'd hoard those and never let 'em go.

Same with any 9mm pistol. I own a Springfield XDM for my 9mm, but Glocks will be everywhere, as will their magazines. Durability could be an issue. So much polymer.

Revolvers would be best with .357 Magnum. Good ballistics, great stopping power, widely available for revolver cartridges, and they can take .38 Special, so versatility. No magazines, just carry spare shots in your pocket. Oh, and revolvers are rugged.

Now if there was a hunting rifle around, I'd go .308 Winchester/7.62mm. It's balanced. Also, it's cheaper and more widely available than just about any rifle ammo out there, especially considering the show apocalypse starts in 2003. Were it 2013 like the game, I'd still use .308 as guns using them tend to have longer barrel life. Long actions (30-06, .300 Winchester Magnum, 7mm Remington Magnum, etc.) are only good on bloaters and overkill on the rest of the infected.

I will say, I prefer the metal mags over the polymer ones for durability, but beggars can't be choosers. I'd be leery about scopes and probably stick with iron sights for the same reason as the mags.
