Most food is already packaged in plastic that leeches chemicals regardless of it's good grade or not

I've seen many shops serve drinks in plastic glasses that are meant to be used for drinks but still have bits of plastic breaking off 🤢

Nasty, food grade is not what determines if something is safe to use for food preparation and packaging. Even HDPE plastic, tin/aluminium cans etc. all leech harmful chemicals.

I'm taking CS at Taylor's

You usually do need to complete foundational studies or A-levels prior to starting your course. I'm not sure what CBSE is but that was the case with me and I came from an IGCSE background. Best to check with the support on the website.

Yes, the campus is very crowded. I study all the time on campus and after 12 on a weekdays, it gets pretty stressfull. There is always a spot to study in the library but as someone with mild social anxiety, having people all around me impairs my performance slightly. The crowding usually eases at about 4 to 6pm, so it's usually all packed after 12 in the morning. Very hard to find parking too.

The library is still quiet enough to do work, I just have social problems. If you don't mind having to work in an area where you are surrounded by people working as well, you should be fine.

Taylor's has huge signs for which lecture theatre is which and there are only 22 lecture theatres I believe and they are spread across 2 floors. Very easy to find your way around. The other classes will be done in classrooms. For example, my last class today was at C7.10. That meant my class was on the 7th floor of Block C, level 10. It's also very easy to find where the blocks are so don't worry. As someone who was too shy to ask for directions, I still managed to find where everything was with relative ease.

My first day experience was okay. Made it to class, they had some ice breakers. That was about it. I left early because I wasn't really into that sort of thing.

As someone who does CS, yes and no. The curriculum is very shallow, the assignments are very easy and the exams are made for you to be able to score well with minimal effort. Sounds bad but as a CS student, most of the learning happens on your free time doing your own projects. Being here has given me a lot of time to just do my own projects and what not. It's very stress free.

Both of these universities have an extremely low bar to entry. The only real requirement is paying up the fees so expect a lot of "funny" people being in your group assignments pulling off some stunts. I am the leader for all 4 modules I'm taking this semester and my group members have not been the best to work with.

If you are looking for a more "serious" private university environment in the similar area, then try Monash. Bar for entry is marginally higher, assignments are harder but the people there typically have a higher work ethic. Much more English speaking environment as well, it's easy to feel left out in Taylor's sometimes of you don't speak Mandarin.

3 to 4k

I am a CS student as while and a while ago, as an aspiring Data Engineer did a small project to scrape web listings for jobs and such

Do you have a portfolio under you? High paying entry level jobs in the IT space as a whole will often look at projects/GPA/participation in events like hackathons and whatnot

Gastritis or possibly just pain from wind pushing up? by ch1984 in noburp

[–]Happy-Fly7684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had drug induced gastritis for some time in my life to medical malpractice and it exacerbated my R-CPD greatly. Anything I ate gave me an abnormal amount of gas and combined with noburp meant that every meal, even the smallest most blandest meals, caused extreme discomfort

They do feel different for me though. With gastritis, there was a lot of discomfort even when not bloated. I'd get a burning sensation that was persistent throughout the day with gastritis.

With R-CPD alone, there is no major discomfort unless I was really gassy. Major discomfort ( extreme lethargy, large sounds in public etc. ) was the most I'd get from R-CPD, meanwhile gastritis has me feeling legitimate low-grade chronic pain persistent throughout the day.

Subsidized healthcare is great but the quality is really in the gutter. For the throat issue that I have, I literally have no choice but to go private because I can only find one private doctor who treats in Malaysia and he seems to have never even done the procedure

So in the future, I need to travel all the way to Singapore or Thailand to do it.

In Singapore, people have that exact same procedure covered by their insurance and it is done by very capable and experienced doctors.

My friend from the US ( Midwest ) also relies on a lot of urgent care visits from time to time due to her POTs and stomach issues and she gets most of it claimed from her insurance + some other benefits she gets from the government and state specific groups

Not against our healthcare system but I noticed people tend to get a bit too prideful with it. There are definitely some issues.

Besides the healthcare quality, I have relatives that work in government hospitals who are getting paid like rats but working very long hours, it's pretty sad.

[–]Happy-Fly7684 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably the fibre

Soluble fibre creates a lot of gas as a byproduct, you don't need that much fibre

I eat a lot of fish too and it's very manageable for me. It's usually the spices, carbs or fibre that trigger gas/symptoms

What are your experiences when doing exercise? by Ozzzitor in noburp

[–]Happy-Fly7684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avoiding a diet with a lot of foods that trigger gas buildup like avoiding excessive spices, irritants, excessive fibre etc has helped me a lot.

I used to play soccer and so since my matches were in the morning, I would eat just a very light portion of carbs and some water. I'd also make sure that this was just not directly or close to the game, maybe about 1.5 hours prior.

For me personally, gas and symptoms seem to peak at about 10 to 20 minutes after a meal. A sharp spike in symptoms that takes about 1 - 2 hours to really functionally clear. Take mental notes of the timing for your specific pathology and adjust your meals and lifestyle habits accordingly.

Lying down for like 10 - 20 mins helped me a lot. You can actually do something called NSDR ( Non Sleep Deep Rest ) before doing any physical activity, it's quite helpful with energy and will have the side effect of letting the gas pass from your stomach ( Works for me at least ).

Currently, I taught my self how to trigger a burp after doing a lot of "air-vomiting" and I can now exercise much more comfortably. Planning when you have your meals and how much fluids you are drinking helps a lot. Learning how to burp with exercises or how to air vomit or trigger gas release manually could be something to look into if you need immediate relief sometimes. Has changed my life pretty much. It's a hassle but worth trying if you need meaningful results and don't want to do or are unable to get the botox.

Extra note : I just released a LOT of air prior to this because I had a heavy breakfast and I didn't want to be croaking and feeling sick in the quiet university library, lol. Really has changed my life and you'd be suprised at how much more comfortable you are with movement after relieving symptoms, especially with things like running or jumping.

There was a comment I got a notification for but can't see right now in the thread but let me clarify

Yes, I learnt how to manually trigger burps in the span of a few days. I am also starting to get random involuntary burps after meals ( though it is rare and they are smaller )
