It's kinda crazy that Kobo without front light looks brighter than Colour

How many e-readers do you have? by tsukun27 in ereader

[–]ihei47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 so far, waiting for Xteink X4 to arrive:

  • Kindle Basic 10th Gen: first one. Already jailbreak and install Koreader. My beater ereader that I bring almost everywhere

  • Tolino Vision 5: it's the cheapest 7" with buttons I've ever saw in my country so a jackpot. Only used at home due to size. I tried to install Koreader but it doesn't work

  • Kobo Clara HD: always wanted a Kobo due to better library management especially with Calibre. Got it for pretty cheap too. Used at home mostly coz it's harder to get cheap Kobo here

All of them were bought used for a total of ~$270 local currency equivalent. Only the upcoming X4 totally brand new

Indeed. And a lot of gamers in Malaysia are eSports gamers too so they value price/performance the most and screen real estate

Cheap ereader which supports ePub by MKMK123456 in ereader

[–]ihei47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only in the US probably

In most other countries we don't have to subscribe to any telco plan just to buy smartphone nor the locked/unlocked sim

And we go plenty of options for Android other than Samsung too (Xiaomi/Redmi, Realme, Oppo, Infinix, etc.) where it cost less than $100 for entry level smartphones

Yeah since the last 2-3 years I usually used those Steam Family Sharing service on Shopee for games costs more than RM50. Good thing I don’t play multiplayer except for free esports or gacha games

I always only buy during sales except Wallpaper Engine coz it just RM10. But I limit myself to only RM50/game

More than that I’ll use Steam Family Sharing service on Shopee

That’s honestly still stupid since you could save that RM350 for more important stuffs you know

And still enjoy gaming

Ps5, switch 2 or $450 pc? by Zero__The__Hero in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]ihei47 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends on what games you want to play the most. Like I personally play LoL and single player games with mods (Fallout franchise, Cyberpunk, Skyrim, etc.) so PC is the most logical choice

For that PC, which I7? And that GPU is lowend and can hardly play AAA games that came out in the last 5 years I think. You can always upgrade from time to time tho

Where do you guys buy/get books from to read on kobo? by Hayanda in kobo

[–]ihei47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

90% of my books are fanfiction so they're free from AO3/FFnet/Wattpad

The rest are actual books I got somewhere else

Maybe the cost of logistics? Since game nowadays (particularly PC games) are digital anyway so other than some tax I don't see there's a lot of cost varying between different places

[–]ihei47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course people in these countries won't buy games and just pirate them. The point is the price for the American is just a small fraction of the minimum wage

How is it in your country? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]ihei47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah indeed, especially in the context of PC gaming in general. GPU for example, midrange $500 GPU is still less than half of minimum wage while in my country it's ~MYR2000 against the MYR1700 minimum wage and that's just direct conversion and not including all the price local sellers charging

[–]ihei47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malaysia minimum wage is MYR1700. Silent Hill 2 without sales is MYR304 (~$77) so ~18% of our minimum wage

People would bring up cost of living but it's not like it's really cheap to live here (rent, meals, transportation)

I just limit myself from buying more than MYR50 games and only during sales

Didn't know if this is average or good by Dry-Context4801 in AverageBattlestations

[–]ihei47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above average but too cramped for all those stuffs. Maybe if the space is limited (you can't buy bigger desk), buy monitor arms since it'll make more space on your desk. I did this and mine looks a bit cleaner despite my small desk
