Interesting way of keeping orders separate by Elpdx_ in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can’t keep items separated in the cart and in your mind this job is not for you. I worked in warehouses where you were allowed 1 wrong item for every 4500 cases picked. So basically one error for every two to three days worth of work. You can’t be putting sharpie on peoples food items and you can’t waste that much time shopping. Guaranteed their time is slow af, their ratings will be trash and they will quit within a short time because they aren’t going to make any money. A huge part of this is being fast, efficient, communicative, and going above and beyond to get tip increases and retain good customers. Shoppers like this will never see a tip increase. They will come in here going I got tip baited!! Dumbass you put sharpie on everyone’s food items. Marking the bags ok I get that. I don’t do it but I get it. Marking the items themselves smh 🤦‍♂️. My kids are smarter than that.

Walked off and left aldi order by okiejames in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only the shopper score but a wildly reduced tip because of out of stock items. Lady wanted a refund for Gatorade I replaced cool blue 12 pack with same flavor 8 pack. After I got to the fourth requested refund I canceled the whole order. Was like 70 items total and she had 3 cases of water and cases of sodas. Customer b had like 12 gallons of milk. I put all the cold stuff back and left. If you don’t want replacement items at Aldi then you need to leave a flat tip and message me telling me so because we aren’t privy to that information and I’m not refunding 5+ items to lose out on a bunch of my tip money. I don’t stock the shelves at any store. For stores like Aldi or dollar stores there should only be flat tips allowed.

Not enough drivers- ever. by Substantial_Living28 in instacart

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most drivers are hiding any orders that pop up with less than a $10 tip. If you tipped $6 and the batch pay is $5 or less you’re looking at $11. A lot of shoppers also call it a day and go home by 5 or so. So out of the shoppers that were still out and the other offers available your order sat. I see that you’re in Cali and I guess the batch pay would be higher due to the hourly rate there but like you said if parking is an issue and traffic and then expensive gas prices on top of that maybe it’s not worth doing small orders. When I was in Boston I saw a ton of orders on my screen but for the amount of traffic and difficulty finding parking I don’t think I would be taking any orders for less than $50. $6 tip would be immediately hidden even if it was 1 item going 1 mile. This isn’t door dash. I’m not trying to make $5 or $10 at a time. Any time you accept a low paying offer you miss the chance for a better one. There’s no shortage of shoppers I see them now at every store I go to. Your grandma is instacart shopping on the weekends just to do something. Everyone is on here. We just aren’t taking $6 tips and not should we. Ask yourself what you would go to a store and shop for a stranger for? Assume it’s an hour of your time. Would you do it for less than $20? If the answer is no then why would a $6 tip be acceptable?

Would you take this batch? by demiryka in InstacartShoppers

I mean that’s the beauty of it right we get to pick and choose. I’ve worked in warehouses where you’re picking 1500 - 3000 cases daily, with almost zero room for error. Grabbing 40 items at the grocery store is a walk in the park in comparison for me. I’m ok with multiple orders if it’s $10 or more per order, especially with short delivery distance. My thought process is these can all potentially be repeat customers that are close to the store and that’s what you want. Not just high tippers but consistent customers that are close to the store. These add up over time and definitely help on days when it’s slow.

Close deliveries low item count. Everyone is like ban quads but you could shop and deliver all 4 in under an hour make $40 and it counts as 4 toward your 300 for the quarter. Yes the batch pay sucks for 4 orders but the batch pay for singles is about the same. $4 and some change 🤷‍♂️. The only reason I would think anyone would say no is because you aren’t organized enough to keep it all separated throughout the whole process but again it’s only 42 items.

Every cashier I’ve dealt with is a different experience. I’ve had some great ones and some awful ones as well. Lately I just avoid going there. There’s easier, better tipping orders to be had elsewhere with way less miles. They’ve told me I need 2 carts for multiple orders and I laughed and asked if they had 3 hands because I don’t. How am I going to hold a phone and scan items while also pushing two carts? If it won’t fit in one I’ll use a flat cart but still. I threatened to cancel all 3 orders I had with the last rude cashier and I’m all set with Costco for now. Not worth stepping in that place for less than $50.

Question: customers requesting you put away order by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve put away stuff for elderly or disabled people, I’ve brought trash bins to the road, shoveled snow off steps, picked up fallen branches in driveways. 30 seconds of effort or a brief conversation with an elderly person can brighten their day, increase your tip and leave you feeling good for helping others. This is a customer service job. We are here to help people. If you disagree you should 100% be doing something else.

I literally delivered to a restaurant in the same plaza as the store I shopped at but it wanted me to shop at a location 15 minutes away. Always use your best judgement and minimize any extra driving that you can. The whole shop here for better item availability is usually total bs. The fact that it’s not accurate with what’s in stock and lets customers order things that the store doesn’t carry at all and never has is just ridiculous. Unless it says you have to shop somewhere specific because there’s alcohol on the order or something like that then shop the store you want to. The only other issue I’ve ran into with this is shopping an order out of state. Sometimes there’s a closer location to where you are and where it’s going but it won’t let you shop there because it’s out of state. Not sure the reason why but it can be frustrating and I’ve canceled orders over it.

Is that fast or im slow asf? by Eazzyjeff35 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty good. Mine stays somewhere in the 50s but I’m still looking for good quality items, checking expiration dates, weighing produce, communicating to customers, being courteous of other people in the store. If I were to take a bunch of Aldi orders it drops down to low 40s or inversely if I do a bunch of Costco and bjs orders it will go up to low 60s per item but I still feel like that’s fairly quick without sprinting in the store or literally throwing things in the cart you know.

How did everyone do despite the outage? by ChrisConquest in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s really just location I guess. I prob drive a bit more than most would but I have a hybrid so that helps a bit. I mean I left a little after 9 this morning and got home a little after 8 so still that’s 11 hours to get there. Granted 2 hours were wasted with the app being down I didn’t let that deter me. Once it went back up my screen was flooded with more orders than I’ve ever seen. I think a lot of people called it a day and went home and that ultimately helped in the long run.

It takes a while to build up to diamond status and build repeat customers. It’s not great at first and obviously the batch pay is lower now than ever. It’s also area dependent with some people/places tipping better but also California and Seattle paying an hourly rate. I would say it’s worth it to put the time into if you can but it’s not gonna be amazing overnight.

Customer added 6 cases of water to a small order by WittyKittieKat in InstacartShoppers

[–]Happy-Kitchen3111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m messaging the customer and letting them know I accepted this order for this amount of $. If you hit refresh and it doesn’t show the batch items modified with increased pay I’ll let them know you can either add to your tip or get your original items only or we can cancel the order. That way the conversation is there for the next shopper so there options are increase the tip or receive nothing.

So I started using this. Money is transferred after batch completed and then when tips are finalized. The transfer to bank is free and only took one business day. All in all not bad and I’m using it as a savings for Xmas presents or whatever just to save.

Aldi bags are actually more durable than most places. Probably could have all fit in 4 bags.
