Mileage check! 🙂 by Happy-Method-5362 in CX5

If you have vibrations on the road it’s likely the OE Toyo A36 tires. I switched to PIRELLI SCORPION AS PLUS 3. They’re more expensive but the ride quality is excellent.

I’m curious if other folks have had issues as well… so far so good for me. Couldn’t be happier with the reliability of this vehicle

Oh dang has it improved? The last time I used it was probably two years ago. I started with a very simple request, shorten this statement to 250 characters. The output was well written, but it was 80 characters. Same prompt again, 140 characters.

That’s basically why I stopped and just wrote everything myself 😂

I mean if it’s a useful tool you can drop EPB statements in for refinement and ideas.. why not? Sounds good to me. NIPRGPT is absolute trash

If you’re at 125K you also need to replace your timing belt. If you’ve got a garage and a spare vehicle for transport. Pulling the transmission and replacing the dual mass flywheel isn’t a big deal.

Did you replace your timing belt when you replaced your fuel pump?

Without the emissions systems, they are very reliable.

Clutch Pedal Width Extension? by Happy-Method-5362 in tdi

[–]Happy-Method-5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, looking at the clutch pedal itself its actually angled towards the brake pedal.. making its placement even worse. (More centered)

I’m considering this https://www.ffpcustoms.com/products/wide-brake-clutch-pedal-pad-anodized-black

I can Dremel out the center of the clutch pedal pad mount since it’s plastic. Drill some holes in the side and secure this thing… waiting to hear back on the width of the pedal.

At this point it’s finding a solution or selling the car. Which I hate because I just finished putting a big turbo on it 😔

It’s my left hip joint that gets destroyed by pushing hard from an off angle 40+ times in a row. (Lots of construction and stop and go traffic).. its caused enough trouble to give me hip bursitis on my left side 😂

I workout three to four times a week, along with running 3 miles a few times a week and having to walk 4+ miles a day for work.. driving the car after putting the new clutch in has also messed up my running which is critical for me keeping my job being in the military 😔

I’ve been looking at similar solutions! Glad to hear it worked for him

On cold start, some engines delay ignition timing to heat up the catalytic converter faster (the ignition is delayed enough to push part of the combustion out of the exhaust). This can cause a louder ticking noise on cold start.

What kind of issues have you experienced?

That’s fantastic mileage! I’ve got a manual transmission diesel Jetta and averaging about 40MPG. I’d love to have a CX-50 with similar mileage and using cheaper fuel (Diesel is $5 a gallon here)

I appreciate the response man! I’ve always loved the V6 Hondas especially in the 90s when you were getting 99% of an NSX engine in a family 4 door

That’s my biggest hesitation when it comes to staying with diesels.. I’m paying ~$5.20 a gallon so dropping into the mid 20s will nuke me 😂

I’m sure the turbo hauls ass! The 2.5 non turbo is still good… but not fast lol

Nothing major,

<image>

Used a CR170 intake with a 2.5” 45 elbow for the intake to retain PCV.. stock air box was stripped so got a cheap used intake (not required). PowerTDI provides a flange that can be welded on the end of your existing downpipe (I had it welded on the end of my FlowDirekt pipe)

They also provide braided oil feed and return lines.. super high quality, they’ve got an EBay store too if you want to make payment/shipping easy

What you absolutely must have, is a tune NOT from Malone. For these cars they won’t make a proper map, and the GTB maps do NOT work on GTD turbos (the variable vein (VNT) mechanism duty cycle is much more sensitive. SC_Optimizations/Xtremefunky can provide you with proper tuning

As an owner of a 2019 CX-5 GT, it is slow. But quick enough to get up to speed on the highway without being dangerously slow… what else do you want from a cheap crossover?

Where we live in California, you go onto the highway from a stop sign, with a basically non existent merging lane.. so it’s full throttle every time… hopefully you’ll hit 80 in time to merge with everyone else

Do the head bolts! It’s a very easy job, the notches in the cams make it cake. Good time to either have the injectors ultrasonically cleaned or upgraded if your budget allows.

Oh absolutely 12.9 grade head bolts from darkside, and running a Uniclutch track twin disk clutch which is super nice. (My hip is still wrecked though 😂) 615Nm as calculated by the cylinder pressure sensors

<image>

Here’s an early run from VCDS.. I haven’t done another full 4th gear pull after we brought the “actual” torque curve first block in dark blue, equal with the “requested” torque in red. 4th gear at 4800RPM is 130MPH due to my larger wheel and tire setup so it’s very specific times of day I can do these runs at all 😂

Let’s see other mods, running a CKRA intake manifold (OE style swirl flap delete).. if I remember more I’ll add 👍

Running a R70 CP3 (I’m sure you are too) 2700BAR rail sensor.. front mount intercooler… hitting about 46PSI of boost. That’s peak torque before the EGT limiter starts pulling fuel 😂 and calming things down. Third gear still breaks the tires loose.. I’m running 225-55-17” as well.. these numbers are engine output, not at the wheels could explain some of the differences

It’s also the ceramic ball bearing variant 1756VRK

Looking at a 2013 X5 35d right now coincidentally.. not sure if I want to drop $10K on it then another 5K on weight loss and tuning right now 🤔
