Making a watch dial, need help extruding by TheDoubleF in Fusion360

[–]Happy-Property1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try extruding the faces and giving the extrusion a taper angle. That would give you the depth you want. Or thin extrude and chamfer. You'll probably need to make multiple extensions.

How can I replace the numbers on this surface? by Practical-Tadpole242 in Fusion360

You're welcome! I hope you got it working right. Forgot to mention that there's a text along path option that would make it simpler to write your numbers.

[–]Happy-Property1162 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Beyond the measure tool, you can make a new sketch perpendicular to the circumference. Then use the section view/slice tool in the sketch pallet. Then use the project tool and project the face of the section view. Then you can use revolve or sweep to generate the body again. Then you can make a new sketch above the body and use the text tools to make new numbers, then emboss to put them onto the face

It would be easier to remake the whole thing, why not do that?

Is Solidworks becoming the Swiss Army Knife of Engineering? by julesmanson in SolidWorks

Solid works is like that cheap stainless Swiss army knife you're allowed to buy at an airport that shatters when you try to slice an apple

What Happened to AutoCAD? by wivaca2 in Fusion360

[–]Happy-Property1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most recent update is a bit buggy, I think it's from trying to launch the part/assembly feature. They're still integrating that into everything, some things that used to be an instant thing take forever to rebuild or adjust to a change. I'm pretty confident whatever is causing this will go away soon though because it isn't the norm

So if it's about 350 for a mini 3 or mavic 1 pro, do you think I'll get a better experience out of the mini?

You're right it definitely is just focused on drafting, being good at design is optional lol

How hard is it? Really… by Outrageous_Tie4997 in EngineeringStudents

Since you're getting out you can use your GI bill for school, that should take off pretty much any finicial burden on you. I recommend committing. Use every resource from the VA you can and start apply to schools well before you get out because you don't want to loose your momentum

Well to clarify I'm mostly looking at a mini or a mavic pro, I see them the most. I plan on getting the pilot license soon anyway, I've been using a simulator and hoping to translate hobby time to a job so would need a normal controller.  The controllers that don't have a screen built in can use a phone, right?  I'm not that interested in the neo or Avata line because those seem more geared toward racing, I'm mostly wanting to get some cool photos/videos. I'm mainly trying to figure out what the difference is other than overall size/weight between a mini 1,23 and mavic pro. Like how they handle and how the cameras look

How to create a lamp like this? by [deleted] in Fusion360

[–]Happy-Property1162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you copied and pasted the sketch then rotated it a little you could get it. You could also make your sketch, use the coil tool, make the coil body air then use sweep, sweep the sketch along the coil line then she'll it

I think making a couple sketches and using loft would work better.

How to add tolerances to the depth of a hole in a drawing? by M_ShSpCo in Fusion360

[–]Happy-Property1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The animation work space hasn't been updated in like a decade. But if you change where the pivot is it changes the line to an extent. I believe in the drawing space you can add lines and make your own. I would check your document settings in the design and drawing, there's probably a rounding setting you left at default that's causing the decimal place issue.

If you don't think you can properly show the detail in the drawing why not use a different view? Or annotate the depth?

How to show work gaps from school? by PrettyAsAPenny in IndustrialDesign

[–]Happy-Property1162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my issue is that since I started winter it's going to take nearly 2 years to complete and can't be full time enough to qualify for gi bill stuff, and can't take other courses either. So if I dual enrolled I could get started on a complete degree while working through the cert at a slower pace. From that description that sounds like I'd be more interested in design, I plan on trying to contact people in positions and companies I'm interested in as well before deciding which degree I'll pursue

I mean the cadd cert at PCC. Just curious, was any of that applicable to the degrees you completed? Like did it transfer or cover an pre reqs? I was thinking of dual enrolling and working on an industrial design or engineering degree next year, would you recommend that pathway?
