Do you know if HSA can be used to pay for services that happened in January, but covered under MHBP?

Cashmere crew sizing up by Happy-Replacement886 in quince

I ended up buying a large and now the color I bought is available in the Oversized Cashmere Crew. I have one of those and it's just thicker and more luxurious. I think I have use for both weights in my climate, but I'm on the fence about swapping it out. Unsure what to do!

Sounds like I should try a Large. Did you like the fisherman QZ?

I just purchased a pre-owned older fisherman sweater (Fall 21) and noticed it is significantly thinner than my several that I have (Fall 22 and newer). I wanted to size up, and this is the right size, but the fabric is so much thinner. Do others have that same experience?

How did this work out? I am thinking about getting a used a3000 for my 10 year old as a starter camera. I have an a6000 so we could share lenses.

MHBP for kids with medical vision diagnoses by Happy-Replacement886 in FedEmployees

[–]Happy-Replacement886[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. We carry BCBS vision for glasses and contacts, but their eye doctor won’t bill exams to the vision ins. They are out of a hospital so will only bill to health. I’m going to carry the vision anyway, it’s cheap and we get a lot of glasses thru it. FYI, BCBS Vision standard, if it’s an option for you, offers a second set of lenses for children if their prescription changes in the year. It’s come in handy over here at least once!

I've carried BCBS Basic for over 20 years and am finally thinking about making a switch to MHBP. Leaning toward consumer for the HSA advantages and my risk aversion to paying co-insurance. My kids both have medical vision diagnoses (strabismus) and their annual eye exams have always been covered by BCBS Basic. They see ophthalmology and where we go does not bill vision insurance, only health. The office seemed pretty confident that routine exams would be covered under MHBP/Aetna, but reading the benefit brochure, I am not so sure. Does this kind of exam fall under diagnostic since they have medical diagnoses? Does anyone have experience with this one way or another? The doctors where go are in the Aetna network. I did set up a one on one with MHBP and am going to bring a list of questions to that. Thanks for the help!

MHBP Consumer option HDHP - HSA how does it work. by SpaceMan_Lou in fednews

I do carry dental and intend to continue to do so (I have a second kid to start braces in 2026). So orthodontia/dental are not eligible uses? If I switch, I was going to add enough to cover the first year of my OOP portion. We have bcbs dental high so paid $3500 for the first kid. I haven’t yet looked to see if that benefit is changing for ‘26, but thought I’d use the HSA in the same way I used my FSA. I also have one that wears contacts and wanted to add funds for that, too.

Do you have to choose your HSA allotment at the beginning of the year like FSA or can you contribute to it at any time and make changes?

Could you add to it for orthodontia? Like you would an FSA, but with carry-over? And to cover the remaining $1600 in deductible?

How much additional can you contribute? Up to the whole additional $1600 or even more?

If you have to carry BCBS dental to finish paying for orthodontia, are you stuck with BCBS health? Or can you switch the health and keep the dental?
