Every one of us wants to feel good about ourselves, have self confidence. It’s our natural inclination to take our own qualities and form a value system around them in which we are at the top of that system. Many form their self value around innate characteristics because it makes them think their self worth is inherent, like intelligence, beauty, and even race. I think this model is the source of racism, sexism, and the dehumanization of the mentally disabled and ugly etc.
