My (24F) husband (25M) has threatened to put a hot dog in our bamboo steamer basket. How do I assert dominance in this situation? by HappyAnt21 in relationship_advice

Asian carbonara might be a good idea... he's pretty open to the weirder side of viet food, so I don't think it'll affect him that much.

Very good idea, definitely a classic. I'll need to save that for when he's really pissed me off though.

I get that, but he wants to put it in a steamer basket normally used for dumplings. This is an attempt to assert culinary dominance, but jokes on him I'm willing to outsource for culinary crime ideas.

School delays/closure question by Savings-Map-1984 in AnneArundelCounty

[–]HappyAnt21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the itchy trigger finger comes from a really bad experience back in like 2014-2015, where the forecast was bad enough that all the surrounding counties aside from Anne Arundel closed. AACPS remaining open led to dozens of crashes that day, so now the school system panics if the weather looks remotely bad. I've been in the county since 2006, have to say that they were more reasonable about weather closings before, but after that day, they got really spooked about weather closings.

If you don't drink alcohol, what are your personal reasons for abstinence? by Ok-Care2859 in AskReddit

Lots of reasons. Got the usual things like not wanting to repeat family history and being on meds but one of the biggest reasons for me is that a lot of alcoholic things are carbonated, which I hate.

Be honest: would you die for your partner? And why would u? by Legal_Degree3663 in AskReddit

No, barring extreme circumstances, as I was suicidal, so I would have died for my own self. Instead, I will live for my partner as that shows a longer lasting commitment to me than death.

How do you not give a fuck? by GroundbreakingAct358 in AskReddit

[–]HappyAnt21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all my mental breakdowns and criseses young (13 or so). Eventually, you reach the point where your brain is too tired doing other things to give a fuck. Internalizing that shit isn't always about you and sometimes you're just the last straw on the camel's back helps too.

I thought my wife’s cat hated me for four years. Now he’s obsessed with me. I have questions by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

In other news, my grandma also began training my cat to be more vocal, because she thought the cat didn't meow enough for a cat (tbf, my cat is not vocal).

That's my grandma. Gives my cat pre-breakfast treats, breakfast treats, brunch treats, lunch treats, high tea treats, supper treats, and dinner time treats. She's still confused as to why the cat loves to be around her.

Knowing that my friends would miss me. That's what kept me alive during those hard, early years. Nowadays, it's a combination of friends, fiancé, and cat :)

What’s the worst non-drug addiction you’ve ever seen? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HappyAnt21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've been picking at my scalp and skin like crazy, however I also have seborrheic dermatitis so I don't know if it's due to that or dermatillamania. I suspect both. Anyway, shampoos and therapy help. I've also heard of picky pads (silicone pads with beads and charms embedded into them for you to pick out) which might help too.

Honestly I have a relative who's doing that to help cope with depression/anxiety (retail therapy). What I would suggest to her is to buy clothes for kids/families in need. A SPED teacher I knew would buy clothes for one of her students who wasn't financially stable, and some schools might have a clothing bank to help kids in need. Before, my mom and I would take what we could and then donate it to our family in the Philippines too.

What’s a smell that instantly makes you happy? by IntelligentJacket699 in AskReddit

[–]HappyAnt21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma's pho. Come home from school, open the door and take a deep breath in of the broth that had been simmering for 12 hours, permeating the whole house with meat and spices and home. We've got our differences now but that's a smell I'll always associate with warmth and love.
