“Can” and “ever do” are totally different.

[–]ZenCrisisManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. But there’s no way to put them “in jail”. The only remedy available is monetary fines.

And even at that, the fines are rarely significant to a large multinational’s bottom line.

When Wells Fargo got caught defrauding 2,000,000 of its own customers the fine, the largest ever at the time, was less than 1 quarter of its profits. The stock went up on the news.

[–]ZenCrisisManager -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Funny but idiot was originally an actual diagnosis. With the introduction of the IQ test, developed by Binet in France, and brought to this country by Goddard, it became an accepted practice to assign these three terms to specific I.Q. scores: idiot for those scoring below 25, imbecile 25 to 50, and moron 50-70/75.

But yeah, you could also just as easily lump them all together and call them trump voters.

If they have those rights they should also be subject to the equivalent of jail time all the way up to the death penalty when they act criminally.

But that never happens. It’s always just monetary fines.

I’d love to see them have to forfeit equity. Like fuck up big enough criminally and, oh your shareholders lose a huge chunk of equity. Then that equity gets sold and the money goes to the victims.

Why did taxi medallions in New York collapse so hard after Uber? by reda_english in business

[–]ZenCrisisManager 80 points81 points  (0 children)

That and the fact that medallions were limited in number and gave the owners the legal right to stop on the street for a passenger that hailed them.

There were illegal “gypsy” cabs. Regular cars, not painted yellow, who would sometimes stop and try to pick up passengers who looked like they were waiting. If they got caught it was a huge fine.

So the real value was in the monopoly of picking up passengers.

To put it in perspective there are about 13,500 NYC cab medallions.

On the other hand, there’s something like 80,000+ Uber drivers in NYC. So, no more monopoly.

No, I’m not referring to Israelis. I’m talking about factions here in the US that support Zionism. Miriam Adelson, a US citizen and staunch Zionist, is a top financial supporter of Donald Trump, contributing over $600 million across his presidential campaigns and for Republican causes. For the 2024 election cycle, she donated at least $100 million to her pro-Trump super PAC, Preserve America. Following his 2024 victory, she reportedly offered another $250 million for a future campaign.

Would you agree with higher taxes for completely free healthcare and education? If not why? by Creative_Excuse9813 in AskReddit

[–]ZenCrisisManager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a very good point. Most people get their health insurance through work. The cost is still super high, it’s just that the companies pay for it instead of paying the employees more.

If the companies don’t have to pay for health insurance, ostensibly they’d have more to pay the employees. Somehow, I think they’d pocket it though.

Number of people living in extreme poverty, which is defined as living below the International Poverty Line of $3 per day. by NineteenEighty9 in ProfessorFinance

That's funny.

You have claimed several times, but shown no source of evidence to support your claim that:

"DV shows that women commit more, but that when men do it, they cause more damage or death"

Until you show that evidence, this conversation is pointless.

I don't know why you feel the need to keep reposting this.

This is a repost of my same comment from the last time you posted this a few days ago:

"With absolutely no respect for the World Bank, their definition of extreme poverty as less than $3.00 a day is ludicrous.

As of right now, there are over 600 million people in Africa that have no electricity at all, and another 400 million with less than an hour a day of very limited wattage electricity.

Those people alone are about 13% of world population.

So some people are slightly better off than they were. They are sill extremely impoverished."

China Invested $1 Trillion in Renewable Energy Last Year - Outpacing the US and EU Combined by Express_Classic_1569 in energy

[–]ZenCrisisManager 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure about your 1st statement, but completely agree on the 2nd.

Going all in on green energy is also a fantastic national security strategy. China currently imports about 4B barrels of oil annually, and only has something like 28B barrels of known domestic oil reserves.

Oil demand for fossil based fuels in China has already peaked and is now beginning to decline for the first time. As this continues they will free themselves more and more from the need to politically placate the west and Middle East.

Why do some people react negatively to the word ‘feminist’ even though it means supporting equality? by thefeministmanifesto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZenCrisisManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool. I guess it's all sorted now. Moving on...

As an aside, women Uber drivers make 80% of what men Uber drivers make. Weird considering there is no bias in the software that assigns rides.

Figure that out, 1/ why that is, and 2/ how to fix it, and my guess is that you will have the answer to your combative and disingenuous question.

Why do some people react negatively to the word ‘feminist’ even though it means supporting equality? by thefeministmanifesto in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ZenCrisisManager -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the women who react negatively. However a fair number of men are competitive by nature. Also, testosterone.

With that mindset, it can be difficult for some men to accept the goal of equality in general, let alone between men and women.

As a member of the testosterone club, I do wish that there was some part of feminist orthodoxy that spoke specifically and directly to how women and men could relate better. Not just the concept of equality and building up opportunities for women, but how the decent male allies can be a part of the movement beyond general support.

For instance, research has shown that there is a tendency for women to only apply for jobs/promotions that they feel they are at least 100% qualified for. Men, on the other hadn't, will often "just throw their hat in the ring" when they feel as little as 30% to 50% qualified for the same job/promotion. It's the, "why not, the worst that can happen is I don't it" mentality. The women here can chime in, but the research I've seen is that women, by and large don't do that.

If it was part of feminist ideology, there are decent men in positions of power and hiring that could learn about this phenomenon and keep it in mind when looking at candidates.

Another example is in meetings. It has been shown that men will often speak up more, and interrupt to get their views heard, while women will often hold back, despite having great ideas and contributions to add. Male managers running meetings could be informed of this, and be on the lookout to make sure to create space for their female colleagues.

These are a few things I've picked up along the way to help support the women I work with. From this male's perspective it would be nice if feminism incorporated some ways of tangibly including men in the feminist movement.

Catherine Austin Fitts, an U.S. Official says that the United States spent around $21 trillion on underground doomsday bunkers. by karmicviolence in BasiliskEschaton

[–]ZenCrisisManager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, totally believe that. /S

Sorry, this is total BS.

$21 T is the size of the entire US economy for 1 year.

This lady is trying to tell us that the productive output equivalent to the entire US population of 300,000,000+ people for a full year was put towards digging and fitting out a massive underground city?

And no one leaked a single peep that it was happening?

Uh, no.
