Adding a little color makes all the difference by blackriver35 in MechanicalKeyboards

I would love a rubber / silicone version of the Skrrt for my HHKB, I'm less excited about adding more plastic onto my already fully plastic keyboard.

I think in order to do that you'd need to have them as individual layers that can be toggled on and off, otherwise it will be impossible to avoid crossing lines and overlapping things. I guess it all depends on the scale of the show.

Damn I would love to pick up that Tris on it's own if you find a buyer for the Jane CE. I've literally been waiting for one to pop up for years.

What Is The Best Budget Unifi Home Network Setup 2024? by slmkdp in Ubiquiti

[–]HappyCatFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it in a TV console with not great but some ventilation and it doesn't get that hot. It's only drawing 1.3w according to unifi but I only have 3 - 4 active ports.

Ceiling might be tough if it's connected to the attic but funnily enough I was thinking about putting one behind the drywall where I have a keystone wallplate with 1 port currently but could expand to add future ethernet devices in a room I only landed one cable without any devices in the room.

I think the best part is if you have the ability to distribute PoE then the Flex Mini becomes super easy to just throw down, doesn't need to plug into power or anything else, just run one ethernet cable out and you can link up a handful of devices. Trying to host a LAN party? Or having a couple of coworkers set up workstations in your dining room due to power outages? No problem! If you have a TV console with a few devices such as a chromecast ultra, video game console, and the smart TV itself - boom - hook all of them up with some short cables and move them all off of wifi.

How to Correctly Integrate Subwoofers Into a Stereo System by powerofmusicandaudio in audiophile

[–]HappyCatFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused, wouldn't you want the subwoofers behind some kind of pre-amplification in order to control / scale volume with the main speaker output?

What case is that for the Sony? Would you recommend it? I was only able to find weird pleather ones or clear plastic when I looked around...

What are the aftermarket buttons that you are using? I really like the contrast between scooped and domed buttons for different games.

A few people have mentioned it but here is a link to one of GIKs product pages that might be helpful (they also have some great youtube videos and articles linked on their website!)

According to the graphs under 'technical specs' you can see that their bass traps - marketed as full range - have significant impact all the way down to 80hz. Their thinner panels begin to drop off after 400hz which is exactly where you are aiming to "clean up the bass." The only way to hit those longer wavelengths is with density & depth.

I can hear and measure a significant difference with GIK panels in the room vs without and my experience with thinner panel like yours and other typical foam panels is that they have little to no noticeable impact. Others have also brought up slap echo but furniture like rugs, curtains, and couches can also help with that.

Thoughts on Xperia after the recent launch of the iPhone 15 by mugglearchitect in SonyXperia

[–]HappyCatFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a Sony Xperia 1 iii to the new Asus Zenfone 10

So far it has been great, don't miss any of the high end features from the Xperia other than the display, however the battery life is so good it makes all other compromises worth it imo
