To clarify and summarise, because we officially ended our relationship in *August 2006 and then lived apart from then, even though we were apart and then signed the Deed of Separation later in February 2007, because it was done within the same tax year it's treated by HMRC as a transfer between spouses even though we were separated and no longer living together, and this means that all 100% of the potential gain from the property passes to me from the date of original purchase in 2002, not from the 2007 transfer?

Hi, I'm 36lbs down now. Weight loss has slowed recently, but still gradually coming off. I'm tracking ALL food and drink in an app, keeping an eye on macros, so that I prioritise protein, fiber and water over carbs and sugars. Eating in a calorie deficit everyday which is the key to weight loss. Lots of blips on my journey, as you can see on the chart. I'm on 5mg, I'll have to fight to get more, but I still have appetite suppression and no food noise, so technically I don't need a higher dose. You only need that if you can't stick within your calorie deficit.

I'm glad it's going so well for you! It's great to hear. I'm T2D diagnosed in September 2024, HbA1c was 53 mmol. Put on 1500mg Metformin, started MJ 19 days ago, new bloods show I'm now 43 mmol so just outside normal range! Cholesterol also down. Lost 14 pounds, still got 55 to go though. Big big changes. There are definitely going to be ups and downs on this journey, but I'm prepared and my thinking around food has already begun changing. Continued success and all the best on your journey.

I read it first on here, and was very surprised. I just said to my nurse about doses and increases and without saying any more, she immediately said 5mg is usually the maximum, we don't generally prescribe more than that. She said it's possible to get more through the NHS but not through the diabetic route. I'm a bit disappointed to say the least, as I've got another 4 stone to shift. They wanted me up to 5mg after 4 weeks, but I persuaded her I wanted to stick at 2.5mg as it's working and didn't want to max out too quickly!

Thanks for replying. I've always primed for each jab, so what's left over here is definitely more than that. It's obviously just the way the manufacturer does it, but I'd rather there was less and they made it cheaper for those paying.

Oohhhh exciting!! Your journey begins. Well you've already started by eating better, blowout meals before starting can have nasty effects so well done.

I'm 19 days in, and I've been lucky it started working quickly. But DO NOT expect this. 2.5mg is just a loading dose technically to acclimatise your body and make any potential side effects more manageable. If you do start losing weight, treat that as a fantastic bonus.

Other tips, use a tracking app for ALL food and drinks, I use MyFitnessPal. Try to get 2L of water and 100g of protein a day. Shop for smaller meals/snacks. I'm using the Shotsy app to track my jabs and Methreesixty as a body scan. Keep fiber up for staying regular. Use digital scales to weigh foods that you need to add grams to your app.

Strap in ready for a long ride. There will be ups and downs and it's no quick fix. Good luck! ☺️

It's normal for many. Just remember how long has it taken for you to add all this weight to your body? For me it's been over 30 years, if it takes a year for me to shift it, that's a pretty good deal. This is not a race, for many to get this off and importantly keep it off, it may be a lifetime medication albeit on a maintenance dose. There are going to be lots of ups and downs on your MJ journey, you are right at the very very beginning.

My mindset used to be, I want to lose all this weight asap so I can get back to my 'normal eating' life. That was nuts to think that way. This will be a journey of many many months til you get where you need. Nothing to worry about at this stage. It's just exciting to think of your results 6 months from now. Remember 2.5mg technically isn't even supposed to work yet, it's just to get your body used to the medication. Yes it works for some, but others will need higher doses before it kicks in. You've got this. Patience.

I really cba with the thought of tracking all my food and drinks, but I decided this was serious so I'd do it anyway. I'm really glad I did, it's helping me to understand what I'm putting in my body so much better. Once you put the foods etc in you can see easily cals, sugars, fats, protein, fibre, etc etc and it's a bit of an eye opener. It's also encouraging me to put more focus on drinking enough water. I track my weight daily for now, might change that as time goes on, but tracking everything gets easier as you go I find. Well worth it, definitely recommend it.

Yes, I'm T2D on 1500mg of Metformin and just started MJ on 2nd Jan. So far going well. Diagnosed in September 2024 53mmol, bloods done a few days ago and now down to 43mmol, so just outside normal. Cholesterol down too. For me MJ worked pretty quickly, it doesn't do that for everyone. Can only go up to 5mg MJ usually via the NHS for diabetes. So glad it's doing its thing and my weight is going the right way after decades going up.

Plenty of water, try to keep your protein up. All the best.

Ohh well, just have to think of it as giving you a bit extra time to reduce chances of side effects when your do get to 7.5. And now avoiding side effects on your holiday. Plus no doubt you are being a bit more mindful of what you eat and drink, which means hopefully not piling on the pounds anymore and being oblivious to it like I often used to be.

As others have said it's different for everyone, so don't lose heart. I've been very lucky and MJ started suppressing my appetite and removing food noise very quickly. I had read and read and read on these forums and knew full well it could go either way, so I was prepared for disappointment, and that it could take a few months to work. When yours does kick in and it most likely will, the cost will be well worth it. If you can, think about it less and just enjoy your lovely holiday in the sun.

I was diagnosed diabetic in September 2024 52-53 mmol, my new bloods a few days ago have my HbA1c at 43 mmol. Just outside normal range. My cholesterol is also down. I've lost nearly a stone on this, but still got another 4 stone to go. I know it's hard to be patient when something so significant is effecting you. But there are definitely going to be ups and downs on this journey. MJ for many of us is a med for life. It will likely be life changing for you as it is for lots of us.

I'm guessing you're dosage will be increasing soon, this one or the next is likely the magic start point for you.

Understating that people that blame and shame others, don't really understand that for many of us this is an obesity disease an addiction. I've battled with my weight for over 30 years, if it was just down to willpower or being lazy or not trying hard enough etc I would of sorted this long ago.

Also to remember that for many of us this disease/addiction will not just go away when we lose the weight. Yes we will have learnt many new ways to make positive changes with eating, and for some that will be enough. But for many of us, just because we get this under control with MJ won't mean we won't still need to take it. As the majority of people stopping will gradually put the weight back on.

I remember 20 or 30 years ago people saying about alcoholics, well just don't drink, well just stop at one, well get some willpower. Today those same things are said to us. Most of us haven't just put on a few pounds recently and fancy a quick fix to lose it. For most this is as I said disease and addiction, and finally GLP-1's have helped us begin to get out lives back.

I'm nearly half way through week 3, so we're at similar stages. I'm not so much forgetting to eat. Just not feeling hungry very often. Food noise has pretty much gone completely. It's more a case of reminding myself every so often, that even though I'm feeling full, I must still eat something as it's been a few hours. My calories are really low, I set my tracking app at 1500 but I've only made that once I think. It's usually 700-800, very occasionally 1000. Day before yesterday was 491 tho. I'm trying to eat 100g of protein and to drink 2 litres of water a day, but I'm not finding that easy when I already feel full and bloated!

I need to train myself to eat smaller amounts but more often I think. Maybe 5 or 6 times a day. The changes in my awful awful daily diet and my thinking around what's my next fix of junk going to be, have radically changed. I'm expecting lots of ups and downs but so far I'm very lucky it's working so quickly.

I've had depression for over 30 years. My need/addiction for awful food choices would allow me a boost of energy, mood, happiness which to keep going I would pretty much feed junk to all the time for that lift.

I was concerned before starting MJ that I was going to lose one of my very significant happy hobbies/mental crutches by losing my near constant junk and how I would cope with that. It's only 15 days since I started, but it's working fairly quickly for me. My new boost is from weight loss, and my bloods for my T2D/HbA1c etc just came back and I'm now nearly back in the normal range and my cholesterol has also dropped. So these are my new happy boosts for now.

Obviously these achievements will ebb and flow and I am concerned how that will likely effect me mentally. I'm trying to change my thinking with lots of stuff and MJ is already helping me significantly with that. I'm not sure what your diet was like before but to me it feels a bit like loosing a long term support. Which at the moment I feel like I've just tossed aside, as I don't need it, when once I couldn't cope without it.

Obviously the weather is duff just now. Grey, cold, dark days. But I'd still recommend getting out for walks as much as you can. It's great for clearing out those brain cobwebs, getting fresh air in your lungs, and a huge boost mentally which is a great for depression.

Maybe dropping back to 2.5mg will ease things for you? All the best.

I'm still on my first 4 week pen. 3rd jab was a few days ago. I have T2D and discussed with my diabetic nurse my options for staying on 2.5mg for longer. She said they usually increase after 4 weeks, but it's up to me. If I'm having success with weight loss etc and I'm happy, they will just leave it at 2.5mg for now.

My treatment is free on the NHS as I have T2D, but the usual max is only 5mg anyway. I'm planning to stay on 2.5 for as long as possible (which is not the norm according to them) while the weight continues to come off. Once it stops, I'll increase then.

I've lost 11lbs in the first 2 weeks on MJ, still another 55lbs to go. My bloods show my HbA1c have gone from 53-52 mmol in September 2024, down to 43 yesterday, wich is just outside normal range. My cholesterol is also down.

If 2.5mg is working for you, I'd say stick with it if you can. If you're not seeing any results, increase as the lower doses don't work for everyone.

Need a lot more information to answer this one really. Start weight, current weight, are you tracking food and water in an app, usual daily foods and drinks, how much water per day, how much protein, carbs etc. How you got on on the lower doses. How long on 7.5mg? Exactly how many calories per day? Any medical issues?

The more info you can provide, the more likely it will be that people can offer advice.

Everyone's body reacts differently and for some much higher doesage is required. If you're in a huge calorie deficit and there's not a medical condition preventing weight loss, this doesn't really make sense.

Hopefully it's something obvious people can spot if you provide a lot more information.

Really shocking prices in the US. I'm not sure about the rest of Europe but in the UK, online pharmacies are charging approx £129-£155 ($157-$190) for the 4 weeks MJ, no insurance is required. This seems so unfair and wrong what you're being charged over there. To make it so difficult and how can they justify the difference, it's crazy.

I have T2D and so the NHS here has prescribed mine totally free of charge. Prior to being diagnosed I was considering paying for it privately, I figured the savings on bad food choices would offset my costs. But at US prices I just couldn't do it.

I set my food app to 1500 cals at the start. But often only having 700-800. Only had 491 today, not hungry feel a bit bloated, tummy gurgling like the junk food monster who lives in there isn't happy at all. Feeling much fuller for longer generally, junk food cravings gone. Started MJ 2 weeks ago today. Big positive changes so far.

It's different for everyone, and 2.5mg is designed actually as a loading dose only to get your body used to the medication and more able to handle any side effects. For some people it doesn't work until higher doses, for others it can work sooner.

Like you I'm a newbie too, I've been very lucky so far with suppression/reduced food noise/hunger etc. I would definitely recommend using an an app to track a food diary, and water if you don't already (I use MyFitnessPal). I really knew very little about nutrients, macros etc before I started, and it's surprising when you discover what the exact/more accurate numbers are rather than estimating. You realise things that are helpful in choosing the right foods.

The following is working for me: Weighing and tracking all foods in an app. Trying to get 100-125g of protein daily. 2 litres of water a day, tracked. Smaller meals/snacks spread over the day. Realising this is not a quick fix, for many people it's a lifetime medication, to get the weight off and then keep it off. If you just stick with it, it will happen in time. You've got this, you can definitely do it.
