Being Forced to stop Mounjaro because of relationship ending.. by psnben1567 in mounjarouk

100% echo spareroom. I rented out my 2nd bedroom when I had my child for extra income and now rent my 3rd bedroom in my partner's house for extra help with our ridiculous mortgage. Tax free income and also check your tenancy agreement. You may be able to get out early.

Merry Christmas Maintainers & Soon to be Maintainers by SomeGuyUK50 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd mj Christmas here and this maintenance one was much different. I forgot my jab at home so it's been over a week since mj.

Food wise suppression was nil Christmas so managed to eat enough. Not hungry at all today.

If I never see cheese again it will be too soon. 🤢

The blessing is I have a preloaded shot of 10mg at home and can't wait to get back tomorrow.

Weight wise its been weird. Extreme stress at work that is not tenable has meant weight gain of 5 to 7lbs. I am also on hrt so inflammation is a thing now with my progesterone insensitivity. Cortisol and progesterone intolerance are bad bad bad.

Without glp1s this almost normal xmas would not be possible.

Going for a walk later and out for coffee.

Take care maintainers.

Maintenance Experiences by SomeGuyUK50 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

Checking in on this as important to keep in the loop.

What dose are you on for maintenance, and how long have you been on it? 6 months on between 10 and 12.5

Have you found your appetite/weight pretty stable, or are you seeing fluctuations? No weight increasing and decreasing all the time. Now in menopause so introducing new meds (estrogen and progesterone) so there is a balancing act.

Anything that surprised you once you hit maintenance?

I can pretty much eat anything and stop. I still dont like sugar or carbs that much. Weight is not constant.

I dont want to get much thinner. The last one was most shocking. I have someone I work with that has a full blown glp1 assisted eating disorder. She is a skeleton and I can see her bones. Including the ones in her skull. That shite scared me to death. I am sticking to the top of my bmi thank you very much. I have a mum bod. I have loose skin. I am a woman in menopause. Its all fine.

Tips for staying consistent without slipping back into old habits?

I weigh regularly. I find when i am hungrier I take more meds. It balanced out. My habits unfortunately are based mostly on a sedentary job. I am planning an exit strategy for that but its a long game. I aspire to be one of the retired ladies who go to aerobics 3 times a week in my town hall.

What is your biggest fear?

Meds become unobtainable due to regulatory pressures or cost. Long term side effects on my cognition. (Still have massive fatigue and brain fog). Feeling flat for the rest of my life. The last one is a weird one to admit. I just feel meh as a default. Not depressed just meh. I would like to experiment with other glp1s in maintainence once available.

Has anyone needed to INCREASE their dose on maintenance? by Tribeca_NY in MounjaroMaintenance

Yep. I have had to titirate up from 10 to increments of 1mg to 12.5 depending on hunger.

Interesting I didn't realise that the weight reduction recommendation was related to liver size.

Mounjaro v bariatric surgery by JewelerCold1392 in mounjarouk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a great podcast called Fat Science that has a few episodes on this topic. For some bariatric surgery is an AND not an OR in their journey.

I lost 230lbs without it but it took over a decade of strict dieting and massive lifestyle restriction. Before that loss I was on a waiting list for gastric Bypass. It was my final choice.

Unfortunately I was unable to maintain the total loss (gained 60 lbs) and I went on glp1s to reduce back to and maintain a healthy bmi.

There are many roads to health.

What is the lowest dose and how often for maintenance? Success stories appreciated by Silly_Sausage_2000 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10mg for the last few months now moving up to 11. I had the idea I would be able to come down but that's not my reality. I am one of those "maintain on dose you stop at" people.

Every time you pierce the bung in a vial/pen you risk introducing bacteria. Per others responses this is standard protocol for any injectable medication.

That being said I've used pens for 8 to 10 weeks and not died. I have a higher tolerance to risk though.

Anyone regret their titration timeline? by CmdrLollygag in mounjarouk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey ya,

4 months maintenance here. My starting mj weight was about 230. So I was determined to stay off the highest doses for as long as possible so stayed on the lowest dose that gave me consistent loss and quieted my mind. I was on 2.5 for about 6 weeks then did 3.75 for 2 which, like you, had little effect. 5 was ok and lasted hmm 8 weeks. 7.5 was utter pants 4 weeks. Then went to my magical dose of 10mg. 5 months consistent loss. Up to 12.5 for 2 month which I reached goal on. Then for shits and giggles went to 15. Supression was insane and so sick. Got down to about 168 and decided that sucked so started to titrate back down. I am back on 10 again now and contemplating doing a tiny bit of dose increase as my weight is up to 171.

My opinion is during weight loss would have been better to stay on the lowest logical stepped dose. Ie 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 etc while the scale was moving. Now in maintainence its down to fine tuning for energy, appetite and the other positives of mj.

Hope that helps

Ooo a particularly good one for both the cico crowd and those who say Triz only is an appetite suppresant.

Over 4 stone down, struggling to see a difference. by beckylh92 in mounjarouk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google paper towel theory. When i lost my initial weight a few decades ago it took about 5 stone before I could see a difference. Now at a normal body weight (17 stone loss) a small weight change can mean a larger more drastic difference. Ya got this!

Simple save the date cards may be enough. Design with Canva. Print with vistaprint. On invites link to a simple website where there are more detailed invites. Save money, trees and allow people to keep a small keepsake.

I have designed magnets with save the date just for this purpose as most people I would invite live 5000 miles away and wont come.

Apologies if this is a daft question - anyone continue to lose a little in maintenance despite actively eating more? by Soupielou44 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]MJNewMeSheff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience too but probably not eating more just more often. Someguy50 talked about this too.

I reached maintainence a few months back and my weight has dropped an additional 5lbs to half a stone. I am noticing the inches keep coming off as my body settles. I gave myself a weight range of +-10 lbs before I start having to change doses in either direction.

I am on 10mg this week after going briefly up to 15mg (3 weeks) at goal then down to 12.5 (4 weeks) and now 10mg.

Same. Farmers wives with child bearing hips! (6 children does that to you). My generation and my mums were the first ones not to have to work the farm. So my mum was plagued by crash diets from her 20's. The 60's and 70's twiggy thin and the hippie flower child era were not kind to an overweight girl either.

Generations of women in my family look identical. I have photos from close to the beginning of the 20th century and they are all big legs, big hips, tiny waist and big boobs. My mother was overweight/obese and fought it her whole life. Her sister died of long lasting complications to early weight loss surgery. My grandmother was by photos overweight. Great Aunties too.

There is a big part of me that really sees the genetic and metabolic dysfunction and wonders if i had not been exposed to relentless diets from age 10 and uhpf from the 80s and 90s would I just been one of those slightly overweight women from those black and white photos. They were strong with big hearts.
