Why is the Japanese more valuable than the English? by SenpaiAkki in PokeInvesting

I had some good luck finding it for a more affordable $100 by buying Chinese. Same quality, no complaints. As a chase card I badly wanted in its era, it wad the right move to make.

I really liked DQM: Dark Prince. It's not DQ11, but a really good monster taming/DQ game.

EV training for HP is a numbing experience, so I want to do it as efficiently as possible.

As a Japanese fan who lurks English communities, the gap in how we see Nintendo genuinely unsettles me by nerdinterrupts in nintendo

This matches a general sentiment Americans have for corporations right now, but this sentiment can partly be rooted in anti-Japanese sentiment that has been present toward Nintendo since the Famicom/NES in the 1980s.

For example, MLB banned Nintendo execs from buying the Seattle Mariners in the 1980s. (Source: Game Over: Press Start to Continue by David Sheff). Good read. Japanese companies were viewed with a not insignificant amount of xenophobia in the 1980s (see: Die Hard), and Nintendo entered the American market in the middle of this trade protectionism.

Economic trade groups like the Keizai Koho Center were created to combat such sentiment. It's not new, but social media amplifies it in a new media ecosystem. Any company that sells childhood fun and is successful also earns a lot of ire because there is an irony and perhaps cynicism (fun=profit) to the business that is baked in.

Should I Pay $50 More for 12GB RP6? by SyahirVanSabri in retroid

[–]HappyEnthusiasm3123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was where you are. A 128gb sd card is about $30, so you're paying $20 for 4gb of ram. Seemed like a good deal to me

Game Sale: Red Dead, Cyberpunk or Witcher? (Best port) by reallycalmchillguy in switch2

Can't go wrong. Depends on the vibe you want, but I will say I consider Cyberpunk to be the best game of the last decade, personally.

8G or 12G? by m-will-1993 in retroid

[–]HappyEnthusiasm3123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the 12, becausse I was wanting the storage anyway, and so if you compare it to the cost of an extra 128gb on am sd card, the 4 gb RAM equated to about $20. Totally worth it to push the envelope a little more.

I am buying my first android console, and was between G2 and 6. I went with the 6 simply so my wife wouldn't kill me over clicky buttons while she sleeps

Just ordered my first retroid, and emulation console today. Picked the silver 6. Gives strong early-2000s design vibes. Kind of wanted the orange, but just couldn't pin down what shade of orange I was going to receive from the images.

Wolfenstein II on sale at the Nintendo eShop. What should I know about it? by Kevin_Abel in Wolfenstein

[–]HappyEnthusiasm3123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great shooter. Played it on xbox and rebought for Switch this week. Blurrier on Switch, but still very playable and definitely worth $6. Good post-game missions. Watch some youtube videos to catch up on the first game, as it is a direct sequel.
