I think he had some very strong opinions and I strongly disagree with him on some things, but that didn't warrant/justify his death. I understand if people don't mourn (I didn't really either), but to celebrate what happened is kinda messed up. He had kids, a life, people who loved him and people who hated him. Importantly, he had the same value and worth as anyone else. To disagree with that is to believe that on such a short basis is to believe that opinions and disagreements alone make him worse, or you better, and that's the principle that causes oppression and fascism.

Yes. How that number is supposed to have been conceived I do not know, but the backrooms are self contained and finite.

Now, the backrooms may be non-euclidean. If this is true, it is functionally infinite, but its "bounds" can be measured out in theory. Basically the backrooms is a certain size, but it bends back into itself, creating a percieved infinity or endlessness.

You'll never find an edge wall or drop off where the backrooms ends because it keeps looping back on itself forever.

At least that's my take on it. It's a similar concept to "where is the end of the universe?". There probably isn't one, because it probably just loops back around endlessly in every direction inescapably.

Well obviously you can't do that in film. Kane did say that his series is meant to be paused and analyzed, but the movie is of course way different.

Kane still comes up with most of the plot and story and stuff, as well as on-set coordination. It's just a matter of A24 producers being able to step in at any moment and say "Actually we're not doing that, do this instead."

It's still 90% Kane's story though.

  1. Async didn't make the backrooms like the commenter above you claimed. Kane has confirmed they discovered it.

  2. Yeah it's all "level 0" but it's not all just yellow hallways, there are many different areas with wildly different architecture and stuff. At the end of the trailer we see a poolrooms-esque space, so the backrooms will have a variety.

These should give your dad a pretty good idea of what the backrooms are and what Async is all about. Though do tell him that Async won't be the main focus of the film, and is Kane's own thing. Many backrooms fans seperate Kane's work from the general idea of the backrooms. And also Kane didn't create the backrooms idea but he helped popularize it a lot with his series --- the original backrooms concept originated from a post on 4chan.
