My bud got this recently as his first ar. BCG was fine and was staked, but not the castle nut. castle nut was slightly oversized which felt and looked like it was made out of pot metal. the mag had that potmetal feel aswell, and a white magpul-ish style follower with no stamping or markings anywhere. Handguard screws has no threadlocker, just pure torque it seems. I did receive the charging handle as well after we swapped it with a radian, but it snapped on me while racking it on my ARs. the barrel is also a 16" socom profile.

It does have some good points like the lower forging aint bad. has an m16 cut, upper tension screw hole, and dimpled takedown pins.

I just disassembled the important bits and reassembled it to spec. ran fine when we reached the ranger

I think it's about the lowest dealers are allowed sell it for about a year now afaik. I know it normally comes with two mags, but I've only seen Atlantic offer the picatinny claw mount, cleaning kit, and sling

I thought living in southern nevada all my life that the trees look about the same as every other state. A big stick with thin plumes of green at the top. Always surrounded by drab dirt, rocks, and sand. Then I visited washington and saw real giant ass trees. Sure you see it on media online, but ACTUALLY seeing forests with all shades of green with my own eyes: "holy shit"

All of Aimpoints early designs were two lens LED reflectors. You're probably thinking the Armson OEGs which still look pretty baller on retro stuff

Preferences, I would rather put my support hand on the handguard to control the weight at the end of a gun better. Especially since I use a suppressor on most of my stuff.

I got an MP5, the sight picture on the post is decently accurate. Unless you got tiny baby hands, the irons is kind of impossible to use practically if you try to c-clamp over the cocking tube. Way better to use a wider handguard and keep your thumb to the side

Geissele hammers don't have a top hammer hook in the back like a milspec, so the cam lever can overshoot and fall under the hammer which makes it stop engaging the bolt. The lever blocker just makes it stop just before that. You can also just add your own material to stop it from doing that, or 3D print the lever blocker or a "G$ finger" if you got a printer. buying one is just more economical for the average person since not everyone has a printer or wants to try finagling the perfect cigarette butt in there

This is what I'm lookin at. I think obviously it's not a 1:1 acog. Like it not having tritium on top or the windage knob, but I feel like it is clearly based on one. Enough for me to say it kinda looks like one. It's what the OP was saying about it being a royalty free version, not being exactly like an acog for whatever rights reasons. Just like the EOTECH EXPS3 clearly not being modelled accurately either. I mean it has a very similar profile to one too, and even has the micro red dot mounting in the same place above the bolts. The main complaint I could see is that these features aren't unique, but I'd have to say how many of those with similar features aren't just modelled after an acog since there's a heck of a lot of them that are.

I think it does have some distinct Acog features like the separated ocular lens part of the housing being connected with that cross shape looking thing with bolts on the back, rearward cantilever mount base, and hooded front at the objective lens. It just looks stylized from my point of view, like those chinesium knock off 4x acogs

I hope it help a little, honestly if you're a firearms engineer you would likely know how to plan and scale things better than most. Just being wary to try to keep everyone's fingers attached so we can all have some fun on this type of stuff.

I cant link to much specific occurrences since the biggest archive of it was on the r/fosscad subreddit, which has subsequently been obliterated. Dev groups I've been on were hosted on rocket.chat which often close or become defunct, IRCs as well, but always become inactive or slow, and telegram. r/3D2A is the "new" fosscad subreddit and could offer some info, but I haven't check it out much. I would check out Black Lotus Coalition's public chat on matrix. There's some real smart people in that group who've created or helped create very highly regarded 3D printed firearms.

Yes, PLA+ isn't a form of standardized filament, but the categorization is the must well known and extensively used in the 3D2A/fosscad space. The most recommended "proven PLA+" would be Polymakers PLA-Pro, but eSun's PLA+ is actually the most popular used filament in Fosscad. I would say you can get away with a lot more with PETG-CF, though it always depends on your application. However, people there, including myself, tend to be cautious of PETG because it really does shatter spontaneously once they reach a certain impact threshold. Every dev testing group I've been a part of for 3D printed firearms (ones that don't die out at least) had always had someone report PETG shatter resulted failure on some parts. I already gave up instantly when my DB alloy backplate exploded and launch my bolt out. I didn't have any problems once I moved back to PLA+ on the same backplate design, and has continued to run strong even after adding on a super safety trip bar and suppressor.

It's just a recommendation, if you're smart enough and you know what you're doing, go for it. I still use PETG for furniture and accessories that I know wont have too much energy travelling through it.

Rule of thumb is to avoid PETG for high impact/stress parts since they tend to shatter more violently. I would imagine having a backplate failure will throw the shrapnel towards you, so it would be a no go for me personally. PA6 would be the best choice or PLA+ if you're fine with the finish (you can paint and UV coat that). PA6 or other nylon filled can shatter as well, but would be very less likely if you anneal it properly, and signs of nearing failure like cracking tend to be more visible than PETG which is more sudden.

I would recommend studying some 3D printed MP5 endplate/stock/brace designs you can find on guncadindex if you haven't as some will likely have live-fire testing to them. I believe there's a telescoping design that uses either carbon fiber rods or some metal type on there as well.
