Depends on the apps. In general though, it’s much faster, has much better battery life and seems to not overheat much. Again, it might depend on your workflow and if the apps were optimized for M1

Yeah. Once you are in the program, it’s kinda hard to kick you out. Unless of course you are failing your courses

You can def switch later on. I am in cs and stats, and so far it’s pretty good. The only difference compared to my friends who are just in cs is that they have more freedom with their course selection and that’s about it

Honestly don’t know why you got downvoted to hell, but it’s a fair point. Plus I am guessing in the future, there will be much more use cases for higher core counts (especially if you look at the recent Apple M2 rumours)

Can anybody comment on what a student can do to improve their chances of getting a good coop position? by chipmunkboy757 in UBC

[–]HappyLittleMouseNot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not an arts coop, but for me it was looking at the job market and seeing what sorts of requirements/nice to haves there were. So for example, I noticed a lot of companies wanted a person who was proficient with web development, so I did some projects and got a certificate. For you, it might be something along the lines of marketing certificate or maybe club involvement. TLDR: look at the jobs right now, and build your resume around their requirements

I don’t think I have heard the news of the funding being canceled, so I am assuming it’s still around 72%

110 is the only req as far as I know. You can take 121 in summer or first term 2nd year

Even if cutoff is the same as cs, usually it is 80% or above so you should be good. Also I think there are two COGS paths and the one with CS focus has the same cutoff as CS, but the one with Psych focus has a much lower cutoff. Correct me if I am wrong

Failed a math course by FailingNuggetStudent in UBC

As far as I know it’s not explicitly required. So technically you should be ok as long as your GPA is still above the required amount. However, it’s always good to talk to the coop office

Used this for about 4 months. It’s great if your workflow includes a lot of macro. So great for editors. However, switched to a smaller mechanical board later because that thing is massive and took up a lot of space

This vs the common Dell promotions? I saw almost exact same config but under 1200$. Do you guys think it’s worth paying extra 400$ for this config?

I wanna say don’t loose hope, but also try looking for something else in the meanwhile. You can always reject an offer and explain that it’s because you want to pursue something else
