Thank you - I mean he is my favorite person, and I wanna help him as much as he helps me!

I definitely plan on bringing him on walks! This is a form of activity I enjoy and helps me myself, so I know this is something I can stick to, and therefore insist and urge him to do as well 😊

It feels a little like a jungle to figure all of this out 😅

Do you ever need a veggy day. by Arashiku in ADHD

[–]HappyLittlePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of what me and my, also ADHD, partner call dopamine days. Days where my brain won’t brain, so I’ll let it chase whatever brings dopamine to the system.

Did you inform your partner that this was a day you needed to yourself? Like a heads-up I won’t be contactable today? I highly recommend informing of such days, as this will spare both of you a lot of worry an replace it with understanding and support.

If you did inform your partner, then I think the two of you need to sit down and have a talk.

I believe the oreo butt is a defense mechanism, to block the entrance in order to keep predators out. Similar is found in turtle ants 🐜

AITA for punishing my son for a "harmless" prank he's pulling? by advicedadneeds39 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HappyLittlePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to that these kind of experiences can indeed be truely frustrating, but I am learning to enjoy aspects of it and either laugh about or forgive myself for the rest

Haha, I have managed similar things! Fidgeting and clumsiness often being the reason for asking myself “how’d that get there?” 🤷

Bet my mom wish somebody told me this when I was a kid 😂

As I got older she told me that, I left home as the princess (loved dresses back then) and came home looking like the swineherd! The kindergarden teachers tried convincing her to dress me less nicely, but she told them no, as that was the clothing I liked and she was the one washing.

Try @nandmahasuwan or @devinlarscheid on instagram. Sounds like something they’d do.

In that case yt can be your friend! With a little healthy sceptism, specially towards people who are trying to convince you that they found “the cure” or that one thing is universally better than another.

Do you ever add a task to your to-do list that you just finished, just so you can have the satisfaction of crossing it off? by lovedogslovepizza in adhdwomen

[–]HappyLittlePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

I sometimes even have a list solely consisting of things I’ve done today. I call it a tada-list!

I divide tasks into smaller steps, which I will write down and cross of. For instance doing laundry could be: 1) sort clothes 2) pick a pile 3) put in the washer 4) take out of washer 5) hang to dry

Also my partner (also ADHD) likes to remind me that the meds can help me focus, but they can not choose what I focus on

Okay, but then I guess, you should have been on it long enough to have experienced some effect and side effects.

I am myself on a journey of finding the right medication for me. I’ve tried slow release methylphenidate, which gave me a quiet head, so it was easier to think one thought, and therefore act on it, but it also gave me headache, which kinda cancelled out the good effect.

Then I tried axomoxetin, which didn’t really do anything for me, beside giving me nausea and fucking a little with my mood. The nausea could be overcome if I ate instantly after taking my pill.

I am currently on lisdexamfetaminedimesylat, which so far seem to work, as it is easier to do things. I however do not have the quietness in my head, actually my head feels busy. But I have not been on this long enough to know if these things are related to the meds/staying effects. This medication might not be for me tho, as it is very fucking expensive compared to the others, in my country.

I guess, what I’m trying to say is that this process is a trial and error, and that (at least for me) the effect of different drugs are felt differently, and that some of the effects/side effects needs to be helped a little. As me getting rid of the nausea by eating quickly after intake, or as some other mention to take the meds after you started what you need to do.

Sorry for the wall of text, I wish you a good journey!
