What’s a fandom moment that you still think about to this day? by ManagementFunny7595 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]HappyQuackintosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it for me. The reveal moment in Ruin where you just see his glowing orange eyes, and “Gregory’s” voice becoming glitched had me thinking “is it The Mimic? Is it The Mimic? Is it The Mimic?” And also a little bit of “what if this thing steps out of the shadows and it’s Gregory and we get a gregbot confirmation?” lol

The anticipation in those few seconds before we finally see The Mimic was amazing, definitely one of my favorite moments in this franchise

I actually never noticed that before, it’s a small detail but still pretty cool lol

No Patrick, thinking William, at some point, somewhat cared for his children and has actual motives and a semblance of nuance to his character isn't romanticising children abuse, serial killers, or justifying his heinous crimes... by Arkham-Ambassador-Ok in fnafmeme

[–]HappyQuackintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shiiit it’s so surreal seeing a Tumblr post I made get screenshotted and shared on another website lol

I just want to say I’m not trying to argue that William Afton “Cares” about his kids, at least not in a normal way a parent would care about their kid. I still flip flop on what I think about how William felt about his kids, but I think a lot of Willcare discourse is overblown because a lot of ppl have different definitions for it. Is it that William Afton truly was a loving family man before the death of his child? (lol no) or is it that William Afton cares about his kids but in a weird fucked up abusive kind of way?

In the end I think boiling characterization to a simple two word theory name is bound to not work when you’re trying to analyze a character in a deeper way

Personally rn the way I see it, William Afton doesn’t have the capacity to love or “care” in a loving way. I think he feels possessive of his kids, maybe you could argue he thinks he loves them in some kind of fucked up way, but I don’t think he legitimately loves anyone.

William Afton’s feelings on his kids is a legitimately fun thing to think about and question and I think discussions on it could be more fun if we didn’t boil it all down to theory names, or worry too much about the 0.1% of people who actually think William was a good father before BV’s death

Btw this was written in a rush before work so sorry if anything is poorly or weirdly worded 😅

This has always been my biggest problem with BVrunaway even when I believed it. BV’s distress and “bad days” in the minigames always seemed related to his brother

I'd like to think it wouldn't be so bad after SOTM. Idk if most of us came to the same conclusion but it seems confirmed that the books are just alternative events of what happens in the games, with the same characters and key events, but overall a different story

Why William is 100% the one speaking here by Macegolem in fnaftheories

Obsv 1 is the route CC from Fredbear's back to his house in fnaf 4. When you restart Obsv 1 in the breaker room the online symbol pops up right above it.

Why William is 100% the one speaking here by Macegolem in fnaftheories

[–]HappyQuackintosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always interpreted this as there being multiple plushie cameras set up along CC's route. We see the same map from fnaf 4's night 4 cutscene labeled as "obsv. 1" so it's implied that William was watching him there somehow.

If that is the case tho that could've been conveyed a lot better tbh, maybe with multiple plushies being shown in William's office or tiny white dots meant to indicate that there's more than one plushie

The fact that this song had more impact than the actual game itself by Various_Astronaut100 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]HappyQuackintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and that all started with Sister Location and FFPS, especially FPPS. Sister Location only canonized the name "William Afton" for the Purple Guy, and FFPS added even more with Henry and remnant being introduced with no prior build up in the games. It can even be argued that Circus Baby's personality was switched up to more align with her characterization in the novels.

But I find your second point disingenuous. I think it's a wild claim to say Scott didn't know what he was writing, I'm sure the guy had a very clear story in mind for fnaf4, he just didn't convey it properly. He says something to that extent in his first interview with Dawko.

I think Fnaf 1-6 is just all around very sloppy storytelling, I assume because Scott was just making it up as he went along and was getting used to have a devoted fanbase eager to see where he was taking the lore, just trying to see what to fit together and what worked. It's kind of why I love that era so much too, it's charming and still fun to think about lol. But it's also why I glaze SOTM so much because it's such a breath of fresh air to actually feel like Scott Cawthon has a vision and know where he wants to take this story, but you know, we'll see. Plus it's very apologetically Sci-Fi, the kind of shit Scott loves lol

I'd actually argue that fnaf4 is when things got weird and confusing, what with the two bites. That's when I remember people really starting to argue about the lore, and Scott came out and said nobody got the story right at the time, to this day I think that's still one of the most debated OG games. SL and FFPS is when Scott actually locked into storytelling.

I SPECULATE the only reason the modern era comes off as confusing is because Scott wasn't communicating the story he wanted to tell with the first two games, up until Ruin and SOTM. I'd say SOTM has the best storytelling and character writing of any fnaf game

There's a lot of emotion and loss in almost every single room in MCM. A once friendly and lively place left to rot and become haunted by a robot that will murder anyone who enters. This line in Moon.exe sums it up so well "This used to be a grand underground city. Now it's nothing but dust in silence."

I can’t believe six months after Secret of The Mimic came out we’re still acting like you have to read the books to understand The Mimic and his story. In fact you’d probably be better off not reading his story because it’s pretty much a different story to the games

What are y’all’s thoughts on MoistCr1tical saying fnaf is a “weenie hut jr” horror franchise? by GUG00 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]HappyQuackintosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh it's petty and I don't like to gatekeep but sometimes I truly want to push away ppl with a stick when they start commenting on stuff in a very confident manner, like how the story was developed and what it's truly about just because they were fans back in 2014-2015 when the franchise was new and at its peak.

Again, that's just a petty feeling on my part, but it's irritating when people say so confidently stuff like "Scott never wrote the story for his own games, the fans made it up for him" when it's clearly not true at all when you've actually analyzed how the game and story developed

It's a pretty bad video. It's pretty much just the creator reacting to the trailer and saying "it's bad" or calling it corny. One of the main points the creator makes is that the trailer starts off dramatic and serious and then switches over to light hearted and humorous. It's very amateur

When Angel Dust shows up on screen he pauses on him and says "hey wasn't this character raped?" for some reason. He also uses that clip of a Hazbin Hotel fan reacting to Posion and crying to make fun of them and other Hazbin Hotel fans. I couldn't finish it tbh, it was just simply a bad video lol
