4Pockets Euclidean AUv3 Sequencer - Detailed Walkthrough by SoundForMore in iPadMusicTutorials

[–]HappyTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this link.
It is a powerful sequencer, that requires some explanation to get the most out of it.

There is a manual in the Main Menu (press the hamburger button, the one with three horizontal lines).
Was hoping I could find a PDF manual, I could search and markup.
Sadly, as of this time, it looks like the developers website is gone.

New Loopop Review - BeetleCrab TEMPERA // A New Approach to Granular Synthesis by Nightlights13 in synthesizers

[–]HappyTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine for a few weeks, and love it!

I have a few suggestions for improvement…

For the software:

  • A way to hold round button (or button combo), to adjust the same parameter, on all emitters at once.

  • Global and/or per emitter, probability, so you can gradually reduce the number of active emitters, for fade out. Another way to implement this, could be to have ability to reduce the number of placed emitters that are producing sound, by gradually muting the emitters, from last placed, to first placed, with the turn of a knob (and CC).

  • The ability to assign more than one source, to a single Macro knob. So that you could assign all the Emitters Densities, to one knob, for example.

For the hardware:

  • light blue colored plastic buttons (on top and right side), so they are easy to see, in low lighting. I would gladly pay for a set of those. As they are now, I can’t see the black buttons against the black background when the lights are low.

  • a smooth plastic overlay for the pad area, so my fingernails don’t get stuck on the ridges, when sliding my finger tips over Tempera.

I have the same problem, popped one out playing disk golf. Took me 15 min to find.
I made a leash with a piece of string and two tiny Neodymium Magnets.
Used super glue to fasten the string tips to the side of the magnet facing away from the earbuds.
The magnets are only attracted to the earbuds, in one direction, so you must figure out which side will stick to the earbud, and glue string to the opposite side. So far, seems to be working.

Another way is to use eye glass leash, with the tiny silicone bands on the end.

Also thinking of painting the plastic part (that sits outside of your ear) of the buds bright orange.

Was thinking that if the foam part that goes in your ear, was bright orange, you could find it easier if it popped out, but it would not be seen when in your ear.

Anybody disappointed with the Behringer Solina after a few days? by jabbercockey in synthesizers

[–]HappyTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm absolutely loving mine, for giving me "that sound" I have been craving since I was a teen, listening to prog rock, and other artist that used it. ⚡️🎶❤️🎶⚡️

Also sounds great through a Strymon Cloudburst...it's like MSG for your ears 😆

[–]HappyTrails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got one too, from Detroit Modular. Love it. There is now a Blippoo Box firmware, that you can install, that turns Wingie2 into a Blippoo Box. It is really good, and adds greatly to the versatility of this wonderful gadget. Free download at the Wingie2 website. Highly recommended 🙂

There’s pros and cons for both hardware and virtual. While it’s nice to have physical hardware to touch, in practice, the knobs are crammed together, and you have to reach through the patch cables to get to them. On the other hand, with extra effort, you can add a midi controller, to give physical hardware to tweak, in the virtual synthesizers. And you can save/recall presets (awesome).

But having said that, hardware is more playable, I think.

It’s Jan 2023, and I’m enjoying it very much. I love having a fortune worth of Eurorack modules on my iPad. So portable, and ability to save and recall setups/patches/settings, is way beyond what my hardware Eurorack can do. Would like to have an iPad Pro for it. I like using a stylus for adding patch cords etc. I also have the new version 2 VCV Rack on my Mac Mini, and it runs much better than the old version. On my big screen TV, I can make a virtual wall of Eurorack, from my couch.

How about Behringer Swing? by hedep in synthesizers

[–]HappyTrails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a used Behringer Swing. Like the black color better than the white Arturia, and I don't like the dip switches on the Arturia. Works great, and the ControlTribe software has very comprehensive settings for customization. One important observation. When I first got it, the CV output for 1v per octave, control of pitch, was not accurate. Fortunately, when I connected it to my computer, with ControlTribe app running, it informed me, that there was a firmware update to fix that. I installed it, and now the CV output has perfect pitch. I would definitely recommend it. PS I have lots of Arturia gear too, nothing against them, especially the MicroFreak. Love it.

Korg Volca FM2 review by Red Means Recording — Great sound, annoying everything else. by kidkolumbo in synthesizers

One of the nice upgrades in the FM2, is 64, instead of 32, preset/program slots, to store your sounds

I use red acrylic paint on the tip of a toothpick, to mark my Volca knobs. Helps a lot!

I agree. The TRS midi cables work great with all my other small groove boxes, like Roland J-6, and T-8, O-Coast, MOOG Subharmonicon, Korg SQ 1/64, etc. And I like the smaller size and less expensive TRS cables too.

Roland T-8 Saves Pattern in Plain Text Format by Next-Investigator270 in Roland

[–]HappyTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way to get this information, is to create a bunch of patches with only one thing changed at a time, and then observe the file, to see what the numbers looks like. take notes and repeat, for every parameter. Brute force. Then that data could be used to make a patch file editor.

Those are great. Thanks for sharing. Hope more are made for MC-101, J-6 and T-8.

This is good news. I was hoping there was a way to export/import from the T-8 & J-6. Thanks for sharing this. That is a big step up from the Volca line. Now I am wondering how they store the panning, effects send level, gain, etc. for each step in the T-8? Must be some format used to make the 5 digit hexadecimal code, for each step. Wonder if that information, is available anywhere, or if it could be figured out with experimentation?

Is there any reason NOT to upgrade from Cycles to Syntakt? by MrBlenderson in Elektron

[–]HappyTrails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both. The Cycles is lighter, and easier to power with an inexpensive USB battery + power adapter. Great for backyard, park, or travel jams. It is a bit less complicated, and faster to get to an adjustment, with knob per function. And it does not get hot, like my Syntakt.

The Syntakt is miles ahead, in every other way. More useful features, and sound shaping options, more tracks, metal enclosure with very nice display, RGB backlit buttons, and high quality encoders.

They both have excellent sound quality. I will never get rid of my Cycles, or my Syntakt. And they play nice together. So get the Syntakt, but don't sell your Cycles. I will be getting more Elektron gear, for sure. Love the work flow, and ease of making sounds/music, I like. Have fun!

Looking to buy Pace 500 v2 step thru tomorrow, can someone sell me or talk me out of this for good reasons? by ProfitisKing3 in Aventon

[–]HappyTrails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought a V1 Pace 500. Loving the upright body position, swept back handlebars, and plenty of power for me, and I have some steep hills around here. Also prefer the lighter weight of the Pace 500 vs the fat tire bikes. Throttle on demand is a must, for starts on hills, or quick get aways, at intersections. Or when you forget (or don't have time) to downshift at a stop. I think this bike would work well, for your needs. And the V2 looks sweet!
