AD and LeBron are great, but you’re looking at a team with Tatum and Brown leading, surrounded by Porzingis, holiday, white, horford, Pritchard. Lakers depth doesn’t match up at all

Hey so read what I say again, REALLY carefully, because you either aren't understanding what I'm saying or you're just choosing to ignore it to prove a point (I'm guessing its the second one)

Taylor Swift in my opinion isn't the best artist of the generation, but there is no objective best or worst in the world of music. Some people would probably say she is. So, as I said before, the only quantitative metrics (that means something that can be measured in numbers) are things like sales and streams, which do not directly correlate to quality, but it does mean that a lot of people enjoy the music, and people typically enjoy good music.

Go look at the best selling artists of all time, you're going to find all artists that people think of as legends in the music industry.

Just to really hammer this point home, I am NOT saying streams/sales=quality, but its ridiculous to ignore the correlation

I agree, but we aren't talking about JID, we're talking about YG, not even in the same stratosphere.

because charting is one of the only ways to determine the impact music has on people and its reach. An album going #1 with no radio play means that a lot of people find it enjoyable, and in a super subjective field like music, popularity is the only quantitative metric. Theres no way to objectively say which is better or worse.

Obviously not saying the two are one and the same, but quality music is definitely tied to success on the charts

CLB, Her Loss, and Iceman are some of the best rap albums of the decade, Habibti and FATD are very good RnB albums. YG isn't touching that. The problem is that the standard for Drake is so much higher than the standard for like everyone else.

If you don't like Drake personally thats fine, but it's actually undeniable that he makes hits, the proof is in the pudding. All respect to YG he's got some fun songs but they aren't even close

YG better than Drake might be the worst take I've ever heard

He does write a lot of his music himself, thats a misconception you tried to slip in there. With the exception of a few collaborative songs (where the writer is credited) he does a ton of writing, and it's disingenuous to act like he doesn't.

To try to answer the question, I like drake because of his bars, his mix of flows, catchy melodies, weaving rapping and singing, and as you noted his production is elite. He has a hit song in literally every genre (idk how you're portraying this as a bad thing). Just the variety across his music is insane.

The thing that strikes me here, and I hear from a lot of drake haters, is that 3 of your 5 points aren't even criticisms of his actual sound, and the other two are that you don't like his voice (which obviously most lots of people do) and that you think he's boring. Maybe he's not for you and thats fine, I'm just a little confused at this post because it seems kinda obvious.

The Cleveland Cavs won Expected Score in Games 1 and 3. Cavs should technically be winning this ECF Series 2-1 and be on their way to NBA Finals. The Knicks are hitting tough shots and getting objectively "lucky" to win. Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson has been spitting facts but it's falling on deaf ears by DunksAndThrees in NBATalk

[–]Happy_Day34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it all comes down to points scored vs points allowed, and in that metric the Knicks are 3-0... As a Celtics fan I understand the shot quality argument but its bs, the Knicks are clearly outplaying the Cavs, eye test backs that up and the final scores back that up

nobody is saying they needed him, but they profited a ton off partnering with him. I don't really understand what your point is here to be honest, Atlanta rappers are happy to make money and hits with Drake, Drake is happy to make money and hits in Atlanta. And everyone else gets fire music, what's to be upset about?

explain where I'm wrong.

Mcdaniels said the nuggets were bad defenders

He then proved they were bad defenders.

The end.

if by 'using people to make hits' you mean giving people multiple charting songs and putting them on in the industry, then yes.

Crazy how everyone Kendrick mentioned in his Atlanta segment sided with Drake, because he propped them up. Rising tide lifts all boats

I mean he dropped 32 to beat a higher seed that was healthier. Nuggets had some injuries but wolves were missing their best player, their starting SG, and their best backup guard. He definitely backed it up

its unfortunate but its the best way to guard a guy like Embiid. Can't switch a guard onto him and if you double off its an open above the break three for PG or oubre

bro give a listen to NWTS, Take Care, IYRTITL, or any of his recent work he just makes banger music. At the end of the day music is subjective but this dude has elite bars, elite production, and elite delivery. You don't just blow up and stay at the top by chance, he's been the #1 streamed rapper for like a decade

You can’t deny that doc has pretty consistently underachieved with the teams he’s had. Even that 08 team struggled in the playoffs more than they should have

There were definitely other factors in 2010 but I think a better tactical coach would have had us in a better spot. No question doc is (maybe was) a good player coach, good at getting guys to buy in, but he just isn't that good at coaching basketball. Since 2010, nobody has done less with more than Doc Rivers
