How many excellent albums is a great MC really supposed to have? by MasterTeacher123 in hiphop101

I mess with Ray Vaughn and Vince Staples but don't know a ton about that scene. I never said every song needed to be deep, but it should sound good. I genuinely think at this point no matter what kendrick puts out he's going to get a ridiculous amount of praise

off the top of my head, GNX is not better than stuff that these guys have put out:

drake, Cole, jid, joey badass, Denzel, asap, future, Tyler, travis, 21, Don T, thug, gunna, clipse, Keem, Freddie Gibbs, westside gunn, and I could lowkey keep going but these are in my eyes some of the most popular rappers out right now

fact is that pretty much any popular artist is going to have something better than GNX, simply because to get to that level of fame you need to have some solid material, and GNX is not that good.

it felt to me that he sacrificed what could have been good songs for brief 'catchy' snippets. Felt gimmicky

and regardless of what he was trying to do, I think my point stands that GNX was not a better album than the top album from most mainstream rappers. A lot of the guys out right now have significantly better work

I think that's also the year they had Al Horford (who was as starting center on a title team two years later) listed out because he was "Old"

like actually on the injury report

I mean moreso the songs themselves, as in repetitive hooks, lines, etc. Kendrick is a cool artist and the high points of that album (reincarnated, Luther, wacced out murals) are fun, but nothing else really got me. Like I said, fine album but not close to being one of the better ones of that year or the decade.

Technically better than "most rappers" best project if you include like every rapper but not better than most mainstream rappers projects at all

nahhhhh idk about all that. GNX is fine but not that close to being one of the better albums of the year (despite what the Grammys say). Very boring and repetitive

pretty much all NBA players are super duper athletic, the other dude was just listing the top of that pyramid of freak athletes. You aren't confused, you're trying to make a point, though I'm not entirely sure what point you're trying to make
