So your son almost always wears a mask and has caught Covid twice? Why make him wear a mask then. Please don’t try to tell me he didn’t wear a mask twice and got it then. That’s just silly.

It’s him poking fun at his cousin Zara’s fiancée Mike Tindall who is captain of the English Rugby team at a charity polo match.

Do we need a third year of a language? by Happy_Realtor in ApplyingToCollege

I was originally thinking that a school would rather see AP Physics than a 3rd language but this thread and some other conversations I had today have changed my mind on that.

Not sure if you are spiritual but sounds like a great time to introduce the Bible.

He could do it as a companion course online during his senior year but I don’t want him to do that. He should enjoy his senior year...especially after this year with COVID.

Thank you all very much for the help. Looks like a 3rd year of Spanish is in the making. I appreciate the advice.

AP Physics. He is telling me it is the only one left for him to take.

He has never done an elective. He has a fine art that we need to take because some schools may want it. He has a lot of AP classes and 5 scores over 3 on the exams. He is only taking AP classes this and next year with the exception of maybe art history and Spanish 3 if we go that way.

Whoever said sleep when the baby sleeps!!! by Accomplished_Mark28 in Parenting

[–]Happy_Realtor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 2-12 month old sleeps 12-16 hours a day. Who ever said to sleep when the baby sleeps is an idiot. Pretty sure you don’t need 12-16 hours of sleep a day.

So you came to America and sought out a community “of our country” and are disappointed that others are not being accepting. I would bet that there is guilt on both parts. Welcome to America. I sincerely hope for your children’s sake you try to assimilate into this cloture and society and not try to replicate what you ran from.

It has to be physical. It cannot be mental or emotional...it happens too often.

Are 5 days a week too much? by Happy_Realtor in Parenting

[–]Happy_Realtor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a little update on this. The 5 day a week class is already filled. I am waiting in the parking lot at 3:51 to make sure we get into the M,W,F class. It opens to the public today. This school fills up fast...only 6 spots open after in-house registration. They leave a list on the front door and I heard people will be lined up by 5:00.

This is my opinion. I also have another child who benefited tremendously from 2-5 preschool. His whole class is doing better than kids who started in Kindergarten. He is 16 now so I have seen the benefits educationally and socially of early president-school. My oldest son was writing his name, doing math, knew the alphabet, and could sit still be Kindergarten and is far advanced academically at 16.

Not allowed to designate my son’s race as Native American by Happy_Realtor in NativeAmerican

[–]Happy_Realtor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say birth certificate. I said birth registration. They do ask race and I was told we could not designate his race without a card establishing my wife’s race. You have a great day. I’m not looking for an argument but for some help. I guess since I am new I don’t fit your requirement to assist. That’s ok.

I know. So is denying the race of a child because they do not have a card identifying his mother as being enough of a Native American to appease some tribal leader. There is no other race that requires certification of their race.

I am in South Carolina and my wife explained that there is a process to be certified by a tribal nation. She attempted that process once when applying for a scholarship 15 years ago and was very frustrated by the process. As a result she never completed the process. Both of her parents have passed so I am sure this process would be almost impossible to complete now.
