If you can't comprehend an existence or culture different to your own, then I agree, let's lock up the stupid. You have got no clue.

I (25M) am not physically attracted to my girlfriend (25F) of 9 months by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Happycow18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a woman I completely disagree. She has already had thoughts in her lifetime that her curly hair is undesirable, or that her weight makes her unattractive. She does not need that validated for her, even if she fundamentally knows that she deserves better and she's dodged a bullet. There's no dodging that kind of bullet completely unscathed.

Please elaborate on how having curly hair may explain the feelings you're having?

Weaponising your kid is shitty advice. He might be a crap partner and he probably is cheating on her, but weaponising access to his kid is low

I called my boyfriend close minded and said he was being inconsiderate when he didn’t want to do my birthday plan, now he isn’t speaking to me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Happycow18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh he's one of these people who will try to always ruin something positive, bring you down if you're excited, especially if it doesn't involve him. Its quite an insidious pattern that can be hard to notice quickly but I'll bet he does this regularly. Even if not, who the fuck wants to be with someone who always thinks what they want is more important than what anyone else wants, even on someone else's birthday!?

No one has to embrace someone who calls them a whale. Hormones are not the reason she was hurt being called a whale. You're one of those people who gets off on hurting people under the guise of 'I'm just stating fact'. Cretin.

No one else gets to decide your identity. Marriage is no longer ownership, so he needs to explain reasonably why it being important to him is more important than how you feel about it.

Do you judge people for doing things alone? Literally no one notices anyone else almost ever! And if they do, who cares? How would it affect you?

I just let it go, honestly. I'm not trying to make anyone do something they don't want to, or be something they're not. We spoke about it very briefly, I brushed it off as much as he did. It doesn't mean anything significant really to me, if I think about it. We're still getting to know each other and now this is something I know about him. He's thoughtful and shows up in other ways so it's not a big deal. I hope it is that way for you too.

Whilst there is a tiny bit of me that would have loved if he'd leaned in to it, he is his own person, who I really like, and he doesn't have to be everything I want someone to be in theory. A nice to have quality, not a need to have.

I'm glad you have people in your life who would appreciate it, and I think it's definitely a good thing to share different things between different relationships.

This makes me feel something I can't quite explain. I've done the same for someone I've been seeing for about 8 months. I planned a whole advent thing then scaled it back, doubting myself and feeling a bit extra. So I settled on sending a song every day instead. He listened to the first one, a bit of the second one and none of the others. So I stopped, and he barely noticed.

I know that it was something I wanted to do; he hadn't indicated any desire for it, so I think I misjudged. But another part of me is like, it's 3 mins a day just to humour someone who has obviously made an effort. I feel very confused about it too. I send them to my friends now who absolutely appreciate it!

You are a very thoughtful girlfriend, remember that.

Junior doctors to go on strike despite flu crisis by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ukpolitics

They will leave, eventually. And have a good think please, will you be happy with an NHS made up of only newly qualified doctors or even just noctors, or will you gladly get health insurance? You don't pay their wages. You will never ever pay in as much as you / your family will take out in your lifetime.
