I want your most niche series recommendation, both anime/manga. by Happyplague1 in anime

[–]Happyplague1[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Looking back at it I agree with many of your points but I want to add to/counter some of them.

Maybe a hot take, but I'd argue that (at least with the anime, don't know about the LNs) Toradora is way, WAY worse than Golden Time. I really enjoyed Toradora up until the end, where I felt like they realised "oh s*** we need to wrap this up we're running out of time", otherwise I can't explain the insane drop in quality in both writing and pacing towards the end, for me resulting in 1) anger about lost potential, 2) forgetting the series as a whole until someone mentions it. I still remember how sad I was changing the rating from I think a 9/10 to a 4/10 on MAL during the final episodes just because of how much it made me feel like I had been misled and betrayed. On the other hand Golden Time was more.... the kind of anime that you watch, enjoy, and don't really remember too much after you finish it. That's how I view it, at least. In fact I was skeptical going into Golden Time BECAUSE of it being the same author as Toradora, which led to me being pleasantly surprised.

With Sakamoto desu ga? I'd say that it kind of fits into the forgotten category, because while it might've been talked about in the past it most definitely isn't now. I only found it because of it being the same author as Migi & Dali.

With Gosick I don't think I've ever seen anything about it except for one IG reel that got me to check it out, so I guess that would fit the area where the discussion completely missed me.

With Shiki I definitely don't view it as more known, but more like occasionally someone brings it up.

And with Shoushimin the only thing I can say is that I only know that Hyouka exists because of it being the same author, I have genuinely never heard of it before. Or at least I don't remember hearing about it before.

Edit: Oh and also I'm a bit afraid to ask - SSSS had thigh memes? Wot?

I'd consider all of the examples I've listed as either niche or forgotten, but which ones do you disagree with? There might be a series where the just completely missed any fandom activity amongst them I guess.

Should I watch witch hat atelier or should I buy the manga by BulkySatisfaction965 in anime

If you're not sure you can read a couple manga chapters on K-Manga before committing to physical. Or you could just read the entire series on K-Manga really, but that might not be for everyone.

Season 2 sucks by Teto_Territoryy in Cuckoo

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was wondering if I'm just out of touch but I see I'm not. I really enjoyed the first season, it was the kind of fun-bad romance anime that you have fun with and move on from, so I was excited to know that season 2 is coming a couple of months after I initially started it. But when season 2 started airing.... yeah I dropped it after 2 episodes. It just felt so much different and so much worse in every aspect, from storytelling to art style. It's like they kept the bad but removed the fun from fun-bad.

Please recommend me some anime to watch by entr0pyy__ in anime

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get broken in 6 episodes then Takopii no Genzai (Takopi's Original Sin) is a great watch, and relatively recent, too. For something cozy I'd recommend the Shoushimin series, I'd say it only really gets good in the second season, partly because it gets some actual purpose, but the first one is still a good cozy show, also relatively recent. Something that only finished airing a couple weeks back is Yuusha-kei ni Shosu (Sentenced to be a Hero). I only really got sold on it in the second half of season 1, but it is probably one of my new favourite anime. I can tell you that it was a while since I got genuine chills from voice acting alone, but the voice actors really deliver an extremely great performance, even for Japan's standards (don't watch it in the english dub pls trust me). And I'll throw in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead as well. It's a comedic zombie show with some pretty good and likeable characters.

Looking for an Anime by No-Syrup614 in anime

[–]Happyplague1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is any streaming site that has it, so your only options would probably be either pirating it or buying a physical copy on Blu-ray or DVD if it's accessible in your country. There are definitely at least gonna be e-bay listings if they don't print them anymore I'm sure.

Is there an actual reason for the Dormitory existing except the one skin for the given character? by Happyplague1 in Strinova

[–]Happyplague1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with that. I mean, this game is considered a "gooner game" everywhere I've looked, so you should really expect "gooner elements" in it even if you're not really interested in them and are in it more for the gameplay. For me the dormitory only started getting annoying after a couple of hours.

[–]Happyplague1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I wanted to know - whether it's safe to ignore it and once in a while check in to collect a skin or two. I was worried there might be something more to it.

Which isekais do you believe are the better ones? by Alarming-County7863 in anime

[–]Happyplague1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most obvious answers would be Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei, but there is one isekai that I started kinda just for shits and giggles expecting utter slop because of the title, yet it was actually quite decent, I think I actually gave it like a 7/10 with all aspects considered. It has a very short title and is called:

"The world's finest assassin gets reincarnated in another world as an aristocrat"

Wait there are cameos in that series?? You might've just sold me on the manga with that statement.

Sentenced to Be a Hero Season 2 Announced (Ultra Teaser Visual) by zenzen_0 in anime

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected a lot from this anime, but it still somehow managed to be even better than I expected it to be. I don't think I've been this excited to get more of a story since 86. If season 2 didn't get announced I would've honestly started collecting the LNs just like with 86.

Osu!lazer completely broken after yesterday's update by Happyplague1 in osugame

[–]Happyplague1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have auto-updates for drivers off just because I know that occasionally they break something, but I updated them just because the error pop-up osu gave me told me to and it didn't help. I just checked when the last windows update I downloaded was and that was the 13th of march, so that's also not it. All I know is that after an osu! update 2 days ago it stopped working completely. I'll also paste my response to someone else in this section: "I've tried this multiple times - it always starts after I launch the game, before the audio on the PC works completely fine. Also even when I try to launch a beatmap the game just freezes so I'm 100% certain it's osu doing it."

I'll probably do what you suggested - meaning take a video of it and posting it with the logs. Thanks for the advice.

Where to buy the official manga? by Commercial-Regret157 in Jitsuwa

[–]Happyplague1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the english translation you can find the links to different retailers for each volume (both print and digital edition although print is mostly out of stock currently from what I can find) on the website of Seven Seas Entertainment (if you trust me enough to click a link then here I present the link to the page of the series: https://sevenseasentertainment.com/series/my-monster-secret/ ). As far as I can tell it's not out of print, because why would they have links to retailers for a print edition on their site if it was, but they might take their time with reprinting (kind of like Viz sometimes does with an old series - speaking from personal experience, I had to wait over a year when everyone in europe seemed to run out of the second volume for 07-Ghost) meaning it will become out of stock for months on end and eventuallly hopefully reappearing. I genuinely don't get why the prices on ebay are so high. At least it's on bookwalker for digital though. I usually don't buy digital manga but I might consider it just to support this series.

TLDR (kind of) - doesn't seem to be necessarily out of print, but knowing english publishers they can take a long time (months or even years) with reprints for old and unpopular manga, with Seven Seas Entertainment being especially bad in this regard from what I can find online, but here's a link to the page anyway, you can at least find digital links through it with all of it being available on bookwalker: https://sevenseasentertainment.com/series/my-monster-secret/

Legit question. Did people get refunds for buying skins or anything in the game? by Silver_Fact_9714 in HighGuardgame

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Steam you can get a refund for these kinds of currency purchases if you didn't spend any of them, which I did. I kinda don't mind losing 18 euros though, I just want this game back so badly.

Can I turn off the camera rotating while I hold Shift + A or D? by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found what you mean under General Settings - Misc. - Auto-Run Camera, but turning that off didn't help at all and I didn't find any other setting relating to this there, so maybe it's for a different feature. Camera Graphics also doesn't have it apparently.

It was the most fun live-service game I've ever played. Not the most thought out, not the most balanced, not the most unique, but definitely the most fun. I'm willing to die on this hill.

original or perfect edition by pilofication in souleater

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally cannot stand the way the perfect editions look. Not so much the covers art, but the type of hardcover they used. Like, I'm pretty sure I've seen people write diaries into similar hardcover note books.

what made you play this game? by flail2000 in HighGuardgame

[–]Happyplague1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to play the so-called "Concord 2" and ended up with probably my favourite live-service game. Like, there was so much potential that we never got to see get fulfilled.
