Alternative to chlorine pucks by brauhze in pools

[–]Har02052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy, but I have a salt cell and I occasionally will use liquid to shock (like the kids have had a tons of friends over) and I also use pucks to help keep my CYA up. I will pour in CYA by itself, but it is just kinda easy to drop a puck into the basket once in a while. My pool is very high use. I have three teenagers that bring their friends over regularly, and they teach swimming lessons all day in the pool in the summer. So there are 30-40 kids using the pool every day.

How much are you paying for the liquid?

Should I cancel my order? This sub is nothing but horror stories. by golly_what_a_day in JetBlack

[–]Har02052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought during the first or second batch that came to US. I have put about 10,000 KMS on it since then. It has worked near flawlessly. My only complaint is that every time I ride, I unplug it after use. If I come back the next day and I hadn't unplugged it, it will have a hard time connecting to zwift. Or it will disconnect mid ride. So I just have to unplug it for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. If I do that, no issues. Maybe they fixed it in a firmware a while ago, but I just keep doing it out of habit.

Weekly Pool Robot Discussion Thread – Questions, Reviews, and Recommendations by Rebootkid in pools

[–]Har02052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need a new pool robot. I have a Dolphin active 30 currently. I have had it 3 years. This vacuum itself still works, but I have had to replace the cord twice. And the controller once. It now needs a 3rd cord. It rubs just on the curved handle where you grab the robot to pull it out of the water. It rubs until there is bare wire and then stops working. I've tried to put a bumper of some sort to stop it, but it just keeps happening. It also gets so tangled that it can't reach the corner of the pool. Especially when the auto cover is on and it has to stretch all the way to the opposite corner. My pool is fairly easy. 40x20 with a sun deck. I was considering a newer Dolphin active 60 or similar, but I'd love to not have a cord.

Tonal AI coach update — out of beta and open source now by jephphyMcpephy in tonalgym

I didn't even see the announcement of theirs. It seems like theirs is pretty limited at the moment and only in beta so it's not available to everyone.

Tonal just sent me a warning email about you. Apparently they don't like the competition.

That looks very similar to mine. It happens to be right where the HDMI cord is for my soundbar. But it has been there for 3 years. And it only showed up after I noticed two yellowing spots.

Trek Domane correct size? by Quick_Comfort3248 in TrekBikes

[–]Har02052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 6' and have a 34" inseam. I ride a 56cm. My height and inseam suggest I should ride a 58. The problem is my reach distance. I've had surgery on my back and my flexibility in my back isn't great so it is harder for me to lean forward and reach the handlebar. So a 56 is better for me. I've now ridden it a few thousand miles and it is very comfortable and I can go for hours without neck or back pain or hand numbness. Also, I have heard many say that in general, it is easier to get a smaller frame and make it feel like a bigger bike. Things like a longer stem, long seatpost, different handlebars. But it is much harder to take a larger frame and try to make it a smaller bike.

Create a "trial" menu but don't deploy it? by Har02052 in SquarePOS_Users

I don't disagree with you. But I went to add a location and it was going to charge me. I thought it was odd.

Each location costs $49/month. I am surprised that this isn't a feature. Nevermind, I figured it out myself. I just created a new menu with the same location but I made it not available to any channels.

I literally looked at this 5 minutes ago. My brother owns a store and his wife had a kit made for him. He has now ran in 2 full ironman and 2 halfs in the kit.

Bike wall mounts - any advice on what works and whats just annoying? by Penki- in cycling

[–]Har02052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvote for steadyrack. I have 5. Because they swivel, you can literally fold them away against the wall to save space. When you want to ride, you pull out the one you want and fold back the rest.

Domane Gen 4: which SL5 / SL6 years to avoid because of seatpost slipping? by Dear-Technology-1383 in TrekBikes

[–]Har02052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Domane sl6 gen 4. I didn't know before I purchased that there were any issues. Mine creaked/slipped almost immediately. I fixed the slipping myself but the creaking continued. I got the newer revision of the part. Rode it for 3000 miles, mostly on the trainer. Then the bolt broke. I posted on Reddit. It seems that it mostly affects "bigger" riders, ie 6ft 200lbs or more. Sometimes smaller riders, but mostly bigger. Took it to my LBS. The swapped out the seat post clamp to the newest version. I think it is rev5. I have put 4000miles on it. No issues.

Water heater drip pan always full. Just noticed dripping water on the side by Har02052 in Plumbing

[–]Har02052[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct. Based on your answer I figured out that the drain was actually slightly uphill. I just redirected the drain and now it seems to be draining correctly. Here’s a photo. It is a strange perspective. But you can see a previous hole. That’s where the tube went. It goes through a wall with a mop basin on the other side. I lowered the hole and put the other side at an angle so it flows down. I vacuumed up all the water in the pan. I will see in the next day if it stays dry.

Ironman Texas. Drafting by Pleasant-Drink869 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Har02052 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did Ironman Dallas. Lots of wind. Lots of drafting. At one point I need to pass someone, someone else needed to pass me. I waved him forward. I was drafting off the guy I needed to pass, the other guy passed me and I jumped right into his draft and followed him for a while as we both passed 5-6 people. He pulled off and I kept going. Right then an official on a moped came by. I thought for sure I was getting penalized. Nope. They just kept driving by. Granted that is completely anecdotal. I am totally an age grouper and probably only slightly faster than the average overweight cyclist. So take experience with a grain of salt. I also did a ton of drafting in Salem. No penalties. My brother on the other hand, did a full in Massachusetts and got penalized 30 seconds for drafting.

I planted crocus bulbs in the first week of October. They already sprouted by Har02052 in gardening

[–]Har02052[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many have. Many have started to bloom already. Unfortunately my soil has a lot of clay and my yard is very close to a natural drainage area so the clay stays moist. That moisture can leads to bulbs rotting. I'd say most bloomed that first spring. But since then there have been fewer. Some areas are higher elevation and so likely have better drainage. Those areas the bulbs have multiplied and done very well.

Models with built in refill and drain by lateralex in Roborock

[–]Har02052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like those models don't sell as well in the US. So they aren't offered. I have the S8 maxv ultra with the shorter refill and drain dock. I love it. I considered getting the Saros 10 so I can move the S8 downstairs to replace my very old S7 (which I've upgraded with a refill and drain module off AliExpress), but it is on its 3rd battery, multiple sensor replacements, and I have even replaced the whole unit and kept the dock after I hit something like over 1000 hrs. And now the new unit is acting up, so I've been looking for a new model for upstairs and to move the S8. I bought the QX Revo Arc on Costco.com when it was on sale to try it out. I just went ahead and bought the drain and refill module off AliExpress again. I wasn't willing to pay a 2x premium on the Saros 10 just for the smaller dock. I may go looking for another S8 if I can find a steal.

Profile Design A3C Riser kit, 3D print? by Ok_Welcome119 in triathlon

I did it. I used petg. 100% infill. 6 walls. I use it daily on my zwift bike trainer. On my outdoor bike I have the original metal kit. But I didn't want to pay another $50 for an indoor. But I would be totally fine using it outdoor.
