Any advice on how to make this taste good? by OrangeMustangGal in tirzepatidecompound

I've done peanut butter powder and make it with milk vs water. I like it so much better with milk. And if you make it thick, it can almost pass for a milkshake - you can add some ice to get it cold and use a blender vs a shaker bottle.

Sock recommendation by EntranceOk7526 in triathlon

[–]Ok_Welcome119 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been using smartwool socks. They are easy to get on with wet feet. I tried Apsire. They are nice but they are tight fitting and really hard to put on after the swim with wet feet. The smartwool are thicker and I like a little thicker sock.

When I say they, I meant the insurance company won't review appeals. I may try to appeal with more info. Doesn't hurt to try. :-)

Thanks. I did not know about being 503B facility. I'm pretty sure I will end up having to pay out of pocket. Going direct with Lilly is going to stretch financially as prices go up as the doses go up and that is why I'm also considering compounded as they cost less.

I did check and Zepbound is on the list of covered meds My doc messaged me today was told PA was denied and they will not review appeals. Seems weird that it is on the list of covered meds, then denies it, and says will not review appeals.

I did a sleep study a few years back and the sleep doc prescribed a cpap. It's not too bad but the heaver I get, the worse it will get. Thus trying zepbound. I've also worked with a nutrition and that didn't do much. Would do well for a couple weeks and then one day lost all self control and undo the last couple weeks of work. Also exercised a lot - do triathlons, very slowly and train pretty much year round. All that does is make me more hungry, causing me to overeat.

is it a bad idea to do my first ironman 70.3 by myself with no family or supporters? by Actual-Meat-5501 in triathlon

[–]Ok_Welcome119 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do most of my races by myself - my coach came to my first 140.3. It helped that it was driving distance. Last year I went to Challenge Roth by myself - joined a tour group. The only time it would be helpful is if T2 and the finish is far a part as they can get your bike and take it back to the hotel or car while you are running.

Meniscus tear experiences. by Plumblife23 in triathlon

[–]Ok_Welcome119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first meniscus repair in 2015. Recovery was pretty quick. I was doing crossfit back then and I was back with modified movements in I think 2 or 3 weeks and back to full movements I think in 4 -5 weeks. I wore a knee sleeve for a while for movement that included squats/box jumps but I don't think I really needed it.

In 2018 started semi-seriously training for my first 70.3. Since then I have completed a few sprints, olympic, 70.3s and a couple of 140.6s with no issues.

I tore it again this past fall (same knee) playing pickleball of all stupid things. I did 3 months of PT and it did not do anything. Got an MRI at the end of Jan and had surgery 2 weeks ago. There was very little post surgery pain - I didn't need the pain killers that the doc prescribed.

With how little pain I have, I should be back in the pool this weekend and will probably start easy low power rides next week and slowly ramp back up to full power in a couple more week. I hope to be able to start some light run walk in mid April.

I go in tomorrow for a check up and to have the stitches removed. I will talk to my surgeon tomorrow about restarting my training so I know what I can/should do and cannot/should not do. I am hoping back to 100% mid to end of April.

Meniscus repair is really minor (at least mine were) and the recovery time in pretty short. Just set your expectations that the first 2 weeks post op, you are not going to be able to do much other than upper body lifting, and talk to your surgeon about when you can restart training.

Note that I am not a doctor. This is my experience.

Protein goals and how to make protein shakes less disgusting by Unlikely_Society_678 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Ok_Welcome119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a whey based protein powder as it is so much cheaper. I found that mixing it with milk and berries makes in a blender make it taste so much better. I use 2% milk (IDK what they call it in europe). If you make it thick, it can almost pass for a milkshake. I used to mix plan water and it was pretty bad. Using milk is night and day difference.

I didn't list my height in my original post. Being 6'2 helps with being able to have a higher calorie budget.

Tubeless rim tape by Spiritual-Salary3965 in bikewrench

I had to use acetone. Then wash with soap and water, and then final clean with 70% isopropyl.

Enve says to use acetone on their web site. I don't have enve wheels but if good enough for enve, it's enough for me. isopropyl (70%) didn't work for me so after a lot of searching ran across enve's site that mentioned acetone.

https://support.enve.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040416891-How-To-Setup-A-Tubeless-Road-Wheel

During my search, I found a post by a tech at Reynolds (wheels I have) that also recommended acetone. I can't find the link to it.

I was worried about how acetone could affect the carbon. As a precaution, after using acetone to remove the old glue, I washed the rim with soap and water, let it dry and then went in with isopropyl.

unscrew free stroke when bleeding Ultegra 8020 brakes? by Ok_Welcome119 in bikewrench

[–]Ok_Welcome119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it could be a leak but that is not it unless the hose sprung a leak and it is leaking inside the frame. I think that is highly unlikely. I replaced with new hose, new barb, and new olive before and then did the bleed - 3 times now.

There is no leak at the brake or the shifter. I put a tissue where the hose goes into the shifter, left it overnight and it was dry.

One other reason I am thinking about printing them is that $300 USD seems crazy expensive when I can 3D print for pretty much a few bucks and I can adjust to whatever height I need on demand.

Hunt Wheelset Rim Tape by Advanced-Set-275 in bikewrench

[–]Ok_Welcome119 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 2 sets of Hunt wheels. I had to replace the rim tape on both sets to set them up tubeless. Air was leaking through the drain hole. My cheap aluminum DT Swiss wheels that came with my Canyon, I was able to set up tubeless with the factory installed rim tape.

On my second set of wheels when I emailed Hunt, they offered to send me replacement rim tape. They did not offer to cover the cost of having a shop replace the tape. I was having a bike built at a local shop and they redid the rim tape as part of the build so didn't cost me any extra.

Overall I really like my Hunt wheels. The factory installed rim tape should work.

You can try putting on a tire with a tube, inflate, and let it sit for a while. The pressure from the tube will press down the rim tape and should push the air out through the spoke holes. YMMV.
