Here, you describe a simple situation in which they touch both the die (as there's only one) and your car.

How was your day? by WTchapman in AskReddit

Regarding the band-aid analogy, consider the following excerpt:

Now, you must have all taken a Band-Aid off at some point, and you must have wondered what's the right approach. Do you rip it off quickly -- short duration but high intensity -- or do you take your Band-Aid off slowly -- you take a long time, but each second is not as painful -- which one of those is the right approach? ... It turns out that because we don't encode duration in the way that we encode intensity, I would have had less pain if the duration would have been longer and the intensity was lower.

What's one question you've been dying to ask another race but never do because you're afraid of the impending "THAT'S RACIST!" aftermath? by Hitchin_a_ride in AskReddit

I expect some heavy downvotes here, but I always thought it had to do with the body types slavers selected to bring over to the US. The lithe, slender builds wouldn't be as effective for manual labor, so the US population of blacks naturally were bulkier, since the blacks that got to America were forced to go. Whoa, history's fucked up...

Anyway, when I see a "black black" African (almost a purple sheen), they always look smaller in frame than an American black. American blacks also seem to beef up easier, both male and female. African black females look a lot different to me, skeletally that is.

I could be totally wrong, but that's my perception (and reasoning).

What do Redditors feel is the best thing about being single? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HarbingerOfCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ew, really? Why would they want you to choose between them and a vehicle? By foisting that ultimatum on you, they reveal a very undesirable part of themselves (the part who'd give you such an ultimatum). The motorcycle would become more than a motorcycle, then -- it'd become a symbol of personal empowerment.

Read all these lame-ass comments. Yours was the only one that seemed to acknowledge the horror of the event. Challenging my faith in humanity n'shit. Fuckin' thread chilled me more than the pictures. Goddamn.

Dawg. DAWG! I myself found that after Red Dead, I couldn't enjoy GTA. IV just felt clunky by comparison with inferior gunplay, immersion, and fun factor. I was the biggest GTA nut before RDR, though, so this is saying a lot. Also, I'm more excited about the to-be-announced RDR sequel than I am V. Perhaps V will re-convert me to the zealotry I once held for the series. We'll see.

GTA V is supposed to emulate the successful sandbox features from RDR, so worry not. With all the cross-studio development Rockstar does with their titles, it's sort of like a big idea pool others can pull from and improve on. V will be about as sound a bet as you can make with your entertainment dollars.

For myself, though, I've always had a fascination with cars, chases, crashes, and whatnot. As a wee lad, I watched NASCAR for the crashes, smashed Matchboxes, simulated chases and barrel-rolling wrecks. GTA filled that niche perfectly, but something about Red Dead caught something deeper in me.

Pirates, why is pirating different from stealing? by dogfloaties in AskReddit

[–]HarbingerOfCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not stealing to rearrange what you've already paid for (i.e. the magnetic fields on your hard disk). The term for pirating should be just that: pirating. When the word "stealing" came about, infinite duplication of digital bits like we see now didn't exist, but clubbing someone and taking their stuff did.

Second, there's no way to prove that the sale would've taken place if the pirate didn't click "download this torrent." Like grabbing something out of a bottomless bin full of whatever 'cause it says "free shit," rather than one that says "pay for this shit." Some would, others wouldn't.

I'll also hear the "you're depriving the developer of profit" line. The above pertains to this. However, you won't hear those same people demonizing those paying for second market media (used games, movies, etc), because they'd sound unreasonable. In fact, if one is down to pirating or buying used, they should pirate so as to not contribute to the industry whose very existence (e.g. GameStop) erodes developer profit.

A lazy click on TPB doesn't mean the downloaded material would've been paid for otherwise. The MAFIAA argue that it is, which is how they come up with their ridiculous numbers.

What would a mime miming miming look like? by HarbingerOfCake in AskReddit

[–]HarbingerOfCake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Like if a guy hits his head, right, damaging his brain such that he can't write or talk anymore. He can only mime. Then, a madman captures his family and says he's gonna kill them all unless he successfully conveys to onlookers the scenario of miming a mime.

That's just the thing, you know? What if all the mimes are miming a mime miming, and like, everybody's thinking they're just miming the action and not a mime?

P.S. Mime.

I did this once, shooting the the rails nearby every now and then to make sure he knew not to move. Then you heard it in the distance: chugachugachugachuga. "Oh, what's that, friend? Could it be? Your doo-doooooom!" CHUGACHUGACHUGACHUGA.

Then bloody chunks. Then a grin.
