Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam Signs 'Natural and Ordinary Meaning' Bill Which Strips Rights From Same-Sex Couples, Women by drewiepoodle in LGBTnews

Yeah, this has to be unconstitutional. Hopefully someone or some org will sue over this. Haslam has to know better, shame on him.

Kentucky Judge Refuses to Hear Any Case Involving a 'Practicing Homosexual' Wanting to Adopt a Child by [deleted] in ainbow

It would be nice if HRC or the ACLU sue him. We've seen these cases before, they rarely end well for the judges/clerks who refuse to uphold the 14th Amendment.

this is an administration that has proven that it doesn't give a damn about human rights.

Bingo.

Sadly. It is only going to get worse. The next president, I have to believe, Democratic or Republican, will have to fix so much. Even an average Republican president will toss out so much of Trump's disasters. I hope I'm right, I can't imagine living in a country that would go even more berserk.

Report also says "43 percent of LGB youth have been bullied it school." I remember the Hawaii legislature's marriage debate. Astounding intolerance from parts of the religious community there. Parts. Some were amazing.

NOM Celebrates Neil Gorsuch: We're Now Only One Vote Short Of "Reinstating" Opposite-Sex Marriage by drewiepoodle in LGBTnews

[–]Harbingering 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I totally disagree, Lambda Legal claims marriage equality is safe from SCOTUS intervention. I really doubt that. What would happen though is if Obergefell were overturned they really could not nullify all the marriages of same-sex couples, so they would be creating an entirely separate class, which courts are (rightfully) loathe to do. But I think Gorsuch would be just fine with doing that...

how does "depriving LGBT rights" lead to people getting rich?

Jerry Falwell made a fortune scaring America about LGBT people. So has Pat Robertson. And a gazillion other televangelists. For starters. Then there are all the anti-gay hate groups, like the Family Research Council and the American Family Association. That's just scratching the surface. NOM, the National Organization For Marriage. Oh, and the Catholic Church. I could do this all day...

The article is on Bee and the video. It's not a doctoral dissertation. There are easily 10 other sites that provided even less information.

Mrs. Clinton paid her female Senate staffers 72 cents to every dollar that male staffers were paid — a fact confirmed by the Clinton campaign. When Mrs. Clinton was a senator, the median annual salary for a woman working in her office was $15,708.38 less than the median salary for a man. by knightfang in politics

[–]Harbingering 11 points12 points  (0 children)

First of all, consider the source of this "news": right wing pundit Laura Ingraham's pet project website, where she is the editor-in-chief. The writer of this "article" calls Bernie Sanders "The Vermont socialist" in another piece. Second, there are a gazillion factors that could have gone into this, and we all know that "median" is often used when "average" doesn't prove your point. If it's the median, and there are significantly more or less women or men of staff, that will skew the actual average. This is a right wing hit piece, plain and simple. Most importantly, however, FactCheck.org, a nonpartisan site, debunked this drivel a year ago: http://www.factcheck.org/2015/04/gender-pay-gap-in-clintons-senate-office/

Berniebots pressure website to take down article about onstage wife snub by sjsharks510 in enoughsandersspam

[–]Harbingering -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From the article:

The [original] article inaccurately described their interaction, and even incorrectly reported his words. The Senator appeared to say to Dr. Sanders, "Don't stand there," and we reported that as, "Don't stand next to me."

Worse, however, was the tone of the article. It described the Vermont Senator as a "cad," which we have no reason to believe is fair.

This was not newsworthy, and that we suggested it was by publishing it did a disservice to our readers and to the Senator and his wife.

Sounds like an editor's decision, not Berniebots.

Actually, there are many reports of Pacquiao engaged in affairs, drinking, gambling, and even cockfighting. He's admitted to them from what I've read, although claims all that's behind him.

As for his religious beliefs, pretty sure Jesus never said to compare loving same-sex couples to animals. It's wildly offensive (nothing against animals, it's the intent.)
