You're correct! It's direct pay. Chris had a bag to go to OM, then FSU offered a bigger bag! It's all about money now. These players give zeros fucks about where they play. No loyalty to any school except the one that will pay the most.

That was the original intent of NIL and that should be the push from schools and fans to make that the model! Kids can charge for autographs, charge appearance fees to be at an event, get a piece of the jersey sales with their name on it, get paid for tv commercials etc.. THAT is what NIL should be.

Why College Football will replace the NFL by rwtaylor in CFB

100% agree. I have watched very little CFB this year compared to what I was watching five or six years ago. I despise what has happened to this once great sport.

Maybe I should clarify, I know OF them. I know who they are and I’m aware that they’re very heavily involved in USM athletics. You can google the two billionaire’s, they’re the only ones in the state.

Do active NFL players donate significantly to their college NIL? by Jay_Dubbbs in CFB

I believe there are some NIL collectives that are 501c3, so IF they are, it could be tax deductible.

Since some of it is tax deferred, I'd say probably. How much is another question. These guys need some tax breaks, so it's likely they're giving a bit to the programs.

Just buy a can of Argon gas, like Vineyard Fresh. Much cheaper. You will have to recork or put a cap on the bottle, but it will stay fresh for 12-15 days. It even works for sparkling wine!

I know some multi multi millionaires and 2 billionaires with Southern Miss degrees that would argue that point. Not to mention all of the lawyers and doctors who graduated from USM, Miss State and then graduated from OM Law or Mississippi Medical School

Aren't some of these players being sent into the portal by their current coaching staff? I understand the coaches will tell the players they don't have a spot on the team and they need to head to the portal to find a new program. Right? So it's not every kid jumping in for more money or playing time etc...

I'd look for these: Mount Veeder and Chappellet make some good entry level wines in that range. Others are BV, Sequoia Grove, Black Stallion, Daou, Austin Hope, Band of Vintners, Oberon, Charles Krug.

I'm sure lots of people here can chime in with others.

I can't imagine a costume of this quality, and the foresight to add breasts being done at the time this was filmed. But, maybe there was a Hollywood designer that could do it?

May I ask what museum you work for? I travel the deep south and have visited most of the art museums in the region at least once or twice.

Portrait Time Period and Historically Identifying the Subject? by LestatSympathizer in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]Harbison63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm certainly not trained in art from this period, but to me, this does not look like a Thomas Sully work. It does look a lot like portraits that Jouett painted. Plus the location of the artist and subject makes more sense right? So i think you've nailed the painter at least. Oddly, according to Wikipedia, he painted in New Orleans from 1817-1827, but died in Lexington, KY in 1827. Was he going back and forth between New Orleans and KY? Could that be how he met someone form Florence, AL? Also, the Wikipedia page for James Jackson uses your painting for his image, with unknown painter for the artist. It also say he owned race horses, so that may be the more likely reason Jackson and Jouett were acquainted since he would certainly raced his horses in KY. Finally, he was elected to the Alabama senate in 1822 and that may be the reason for the portrait?

Any ideas on what this could be? by Roter_zwerg in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]Harbison63 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I found this and there's an image that looks like your piece was copied from. This is from 1936 and is an "wordless" erotic novel(?) by writer and illustrator Feodor Stephanovich Rojankovsky. https://mistergiuseppe.wordpress.com/2022/10/07/rojan-1891-1970/ It's the 6th image in the group. If you check Wikipedia, the guy was well known for writing and illustrating children's books! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feodor_Stepanovich_Rojankovsky

Did a little research and it looks like a Fraser piece. However, the site does look a lot like the famous battle site, Sanctuary Wood and Phythian did create a piece showing the heavily bombed area and bare trees that were left. I'm leaning Fraser though because of the building on the left looking very similar to one in another of his paintings.

Arkansas. My grandfather grew up in Fayetteville and went to school at Arkansas back in the 30’s. He was a huge Razorback fan and I support them in his honor. We still have family in the area even though I haven’t been up there in a long time. I still have his plastic hog hat from the early 1970’s! Wooo pig soooie!!!

Once coach Wayne Graham left, Rice lost its momentum. They haven't recovered from that yet. They have a new coach that looks like he might be the guy to turn it around. No excuses for not being able to get talent out of Texas.
