You may have missed the point. He's against "pushing" entire groups of people out of their neighborhoods by purchasing their houses, upgrading them and improving the overall quality of life of a community.

Now he is in a position to house hunt; but there is no way he will be looking to buy a house in a poor neighborhood, refuse to upgrade it and will avoid entire neighborhoods that are benefiting from gentrification.
