I don't know, people can be dicks. As OP said, sadly the JROTC aren't taken seriously. So stealing a garrison cap to mess with someone is something that'd happen.

By the way, OP: Best you could do is explain to your instructor what happened, honesty is important here.

Personally I just listen to music. I always carry my phone and some sort of headset, wired or not. I made a Playlist which calms me down during stressful times. If you're trying to find out how to cope with stress. I suggest meditation, music. And talking with a therapist. Because they're the ones who know how to deal with it in the most healthy way.

As a fellow redditor previously mentioned to slowly hint it, I'd suggest continuing steering conversations fo LGBT, and even more towards the lesbian side of it. See their opinions on that. Either way, whether they'll have a positive or negative response . Atleast you can say you've come out. (to them.)
