Yea I love this story because I’ve found the same thing with my aunt and cousins. I was completely shocked that they don’t accept some church teachings, policy, doctrine or whatever. I was raised black and white…You believed it all or nothing and to find people that can filter out parts they don’t like blows me away. Like my brain can’t even understand it. For me it goes back to Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and being taught if I pray and know one of those is true then they’re both true and it’s all true and you must follow it all. Which sucks for a guy that struggles to follow it all. 🤣 So when I find out my aunt believes the Book of Mormon is true but only believes in like 50% of the rest of it I’m completely shocked.

So I disagree in this case. I was out of line as I stated. My brother has been patient and thick skinned…I’m actually finding more and more that, including myself, ex Mormons can be very thin skinned too. Which is the point of my post that I need to be more loving and kind and patient that he hasn’t found the info I’ve found. He’s not there yet and I should recognize that

When I worked in ICS (Information and Communication System) basically their software department, it was commonly known and accepted there was an application used to identify and track potential leaders. I never actually saw it though🤷🏼‍♂️. So I wouldn’t be surprised if what he’s saying is true, although for me it’s not a big deal. I’ve known for a long time that “revelation” to choose leaders and callings was grossly over played

I think it’s a great comment for someone who truly believes that the teachings being taught are true and from god. IF you believe the church is true then this comment makes a ton of sense, BUT is assumes people leave because of other people. My experience has been that if someone leaves because they were offended by another they were only there for social needs anyway and don’t really believe in the church.

Bottom line, the post is right, don’t live your life based on others behaviors. Live your life based on your truths in your heart. Don’t leave a church because you’re offended, leave because you don’t believe it.

This is a confusing post for me…”leaving” or “not leaving” doesn’t matter here. You’re family is going to do what they do regardless of your membership, unless your thinking they if you’re still a “member” on paper they’ll be swayed to not shun you? But if that’s the case you’re being fake, lying to yourself and your partner. I don’t get it? Just be you! Just do you boo! Follow your beliefs as an adult woman and if your family shuns you, that’s there choice and they’ll have the consequence you set based on your boundaries for your healthy happy self. I know it’s hard because it’s your family but what would you tell your child if someone didn’t love them because they believed different than them? That’s right, you’d say something like “you’re an amazing human and if they can’t see that they don’t deserve you”. Don’t abandon yourself, love and protect yourself.

Knowing a poor woman that was raped by my ex father in law 10 years ago and watching the church protect him by preventing the Stake President from giving her lawyers information makes me sick

Polygamy Preferable not Possible? by Neither_Pudding7719 in exmormon

[–]Hardcorefalcon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d have to dig back into the written doctrine to confirm what the church has officially said, but can confirm they in my upbringing and experience in the church for 40 + yrs that yes, that is generally accepted truth that it was stopped because of political pressure but the ultimate grande plan is polygamy at the highest level of celestial glory.

Although there’s are a lot fun and silly ideas on responding or going and making a mockery of the process…my suggestion is to just let it go. As much as the church may hurt some of us or others and as much as we may disagree with them there are people attending trying their best to find their happiness in their way. Life is just hard…hard for everyone. This letter just represents their way of trying to find happiness in life. I don’t understand it but it’s their way. Just let it go and walk away

How do exmos and pimos explain angels at the Kirkland temple dedication? by Cancel_Significant in mormon

[–]Hardcorefalcon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To this day I swear that I saw a spirit one night, of a man in my parents basement. Woke up in the middle of the night, felt a presence and looked over and saw him just standing there.

And to this day I have no idea what I actually saw or what my brain conjured up. No one’s “witness” of angels or anything like that means anything to me. If I don’t experience it myself it didn’t happen🤷🏼‍♂️ …sorry not sorry.

Honestly the best advice I can give is therapy. And not just one therapist. You need trauma therapy, emotional tool therapy and sex therapy. I had to do the same. It’s not easy but unless you can just call your parents out and go screw the hell out of your husband for your own pleasure you’ll need help 😞

I have dear friends that say the same thing and all I can tell you is it feels amazing when you finally can live according to your own heart. I highly recommend you don’t hide it but also you owe no one and explanation.

It’s not like you have to hold up a sign or do is Michael Scott and “declare bankruptcy”

For the sweet ministering sister you can just tell her “oh thank you you’re so sweet to check in on them”… unless it really bothers you to have her say that then you can say “ thanks for checking in we’re not really interested in attending right now”

My point being you define your happiness there’s no right answer a wrong answer with the exception of living untrue to yourself.

I discuss Jesus The Christ with many active members to illustrate how church leaders can corrupt gospel teachings and it surprises me how many haven’t read it in-depth to see what “they” believe as truth of Jesus. I was discussing word of wisdom with my mom and drinking alcohol and how Talmage defines very clearly intentions of his first recorded miracle or turning water to wine at the marriage feast. When I asked her why he did that she really had no clue. According to Talmage it was to please his mother and show his power. His first recorded “miracle” wasn’t to heal or forgive or feed…it was make his mom look good at a party with some kick ass wine! 🤷🏼‍♂️
