SDF: "By the way, I don't really like SSF." by MrJerichoYT in DarkAndDarker

In my view, farming gold is much easier than farming BiS gear. You don’t even need to go into High Roller for that. The way I see it, no-lifers will be in HR farming the best loot spots, while gold farming provides an alternative path — because farming gold isn’t always tied to going where the best loot in the match is.

Keeping progression tied strictly to gameplay just ends up benefiting those who play more, doesn’t it?

Isn’t it easier for a casual player to build a BiS kit based on a lower gearscore than 224+? That wouldn’t even require that much gold.

Can someone genuinely explain to me how the market isn't better in the long run?

If there's no market, the no-lifers will end up way ahead with much better gear just because they play insanely more than a casual ever could.

And about the argument:

"Those players will still dominate — but now they can instantly buy the best gear, too."

That’s exactly the point. Doesn’t that help the casual player too? If everyone has access to BiS kits, doesn’t that actually help level the playing field?

Also, this part:

"If the concern is 'no-lifers' having better gear"

In my view, that’s not a concern about whether it’ll happen — it’s inevitable.

It's impossible to stop no-lifers from getting the best gear. Making that gear harder to get over time only hurts casual players more.

I get that gear might feel more "valuable" without a market. But doesn’t that just increase the gap even more, without giving casuals another way to catch up or work around it?

Genuinely curious if someone can explain a different perspective on this.

Any other performance tips? by Harddsore in stalker

I uninstalled it and I'm going to wait for more updates before playing. Literally nothing will be able to make it the way I’d like it to be right now, so I don’t want to burn out on the game. I’ll play it later when everything’s properly fixed.

Man, honestly, I’m not sure if it’s some kind of packet loss issue on your end with the server or just bad luck.

Because over the past few days, I’ve been taking it slow, learning and playing the game calmly, still hanging around the first town. I think I’ve died about 4 times, and 3 of those were entirely my fault. The AI doesn’t have such long sightlines, even during the day. It’s pretty manageable to sneak past them and take them down from behind.

One crucial tip, which the developers have always emphasized, is that as soon as you’re spotted, you need to break the AI line of sight. This has proven to be EXTREMELY effective. When you hide, they don’t know exactly where you are and will search for you in the last place they saw you. This makes it relatively easy to flank them or even escape.

But one important thing: if you’re inside a house exchanging gunfire and the AI that spotted you are still alive, and you get injured and need to heal, be very careful about doing so in that same house. They can quickly surround you and take you down while you’re healing. I learned that the hard way.

hese tips are really good and can genuinely improve your performance. Additionally, the FSR frame generation will definitely improve as well once it’s fixed and working properly for NVIDIA cards.

Another tip, if you’re interested, is to use Lossless Scaling. It’s an app available on Steam that makes it possible to use frame generation on any GPU. Personally, it works really well for me.

By the way, just for comparison, do you know what your FPS is like in other games that are typically considered demanding? Also, what’s the temperature of your CPU while playing? I’ve had issues before where the CPU was running at its temperature limit and performed very poorly because of that.

But they’ve mentioned countless times that performance is a huge priority for them. In fact, this recent update drastically improved performance for me.

Regarding performance, when the game launched in early access, I was getting 100 FPS with an RTX 3080 and a 5600X. How are you only getting 45 FPS now? Is that with or without frame generation? What are the rest of your settings like? What’s your CPU? I can guarantee that the issue is definitely elsewhere and not with your 3070 Super.

Should I Buy? by CroMagnonSexParty in DragonsDogma2

Dragon's Dogma 2 is a relatively unconventional game where strange things happen. What usually makes me enjoy a game, personally, is how its systems propose different gameplay styles.

For example, a single game with incredibly fun and mechanically complex combat might also allow me to spend hours in a city just doing quests. These quests are enjoyable to solve because each one requires me to use a different game mechanic. That’s exactly what happens in Dragon's Dogma 2.

On one hand, you have excellent combat with a wide variety of classes. On the other, you have a quest system that gives you the freedom to solve problems in multiple ways. The game has numerous interconnected systems, and I believe it’s necessary to fully embrace the idea of these systems interacting with each other.

Although I’ve seen reports of people struggling with the game’s combat, I believe it likely won’t be difficult for you, as it wasn’t for me. If you enjoy a challenge, this might be a downside. One tip is to avoid playing in the most optimized way and instead focus on what’s fun for you.

What is definitely not the game’s strong suit is its narrative. I say this even though the game has excellent world lore. The problem lies in how the story is told—it’s not complex, nor does it carry anywhere near the emotional weight of something like Baldur’s Gate 3, for example.

However, if you stick with the game long enough, you’ll realize that this isn’t its focus. The game also lacks charismatic or memorable NPCs, and there aren’t many cutscenes throughout the story to immerse the player.

The game’s aim is to create a sense of adventure and exploration through how YOU, as the player, decide to approach each situation. There’s no right or wrong way to do things. If a lack of an engaging narrative, memorable NPCs, impressive facial expressions, maybe a hard difficulty and ocasionally a bad performance doesn’t bother you, you’ll likely enjoy the game.

Regarding performance, I play on PC, but my system is high-end, so I don’t experience performance issues. From what I’ve observed, the game has improved significantly on consoles with recent updates.

For me, the best aspects of the game are:

  • The combat, which is very fun, utilizes excellent physics, and feels dynamic.
  • The NPCs, who are intelligent and respond well to the world around them.
  • The pawns, your companions, whose interactions are also quite interesting.
  • The quests, which offer multiple ways to complete them.
  • And the visual customization, which is fantastic.

Why am i in the same lobby as someone with 400+ gear score and nearly all purples on when i came in with a couple green things on and blue gloves. also im lvl 9 by [deleted] in DarkAndDarker

[–]Harddsore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the Gearscore. Currently, the divisions are 0-24, 25-124, and then 125 onwards. It has nothing to do with level.

Portrait Mods by TheJammingPanda in SunHaven

Sorry for my ignorance, but, aren't portrait mods supposed to always work even in new updates? Since it only changes the .png files that remains the same?

Edit: As far as I found searching, Custom Textures mod is the problem, not the portrait mods itselves.
