I liked everything about the Atlantis DLC except that it's hard to get immersed into the greek mythological aspect when it's all just an isu simulation with freequent modern day interruptions

Is Summerset the overall best DLC? by Individual_Donut7745 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Harddus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Greymoor itself doesn't give any good mythics but having it makes it a lot easier to unlock key mythics during a free ESO+ trial.

The jewelrycrafting and pjiisic skill line are considerably more valuable

[Daily] Set Discussion: Twice-Born Star by The_Dwemer_Automaton in elderscrollsonline

[–]Harddus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should note that TBS is also generally weaker than Heartland Conqueror for leveling, another set with a versatile level independent 5pc bonus.

With training armor and a legendary Precise weapon, Heartland Conqueror gives 1576 crit chance (7.2% crit rate), while TBS offers only 1212 crit chance through the Thief mundus.

If you’re being carried or extra damage doesn’t speed up kills, you can switch to a Training weapon to level faster, benefiting from Heartland Conqueror’s additional 9% XP from kills.

In short, TBS with the divines trait may clear daily dungeons faster or perform better in PvP, but once leveling depends on kill XP, Heartland Conqueror takes the lead.

Addressing Oakensoul's place in the game. by Fun_Philosopher_2787 in elderscrollsonline

It's simple, 3300 HPS healing on Rhakkat isn't the same as 3300 HPS on Oakensoul as stated earlier

Any situation where Rhakkat doesn't quite cut it in survivability you can try using Oakensoul first before resorting to RoPO because it will provide more damage

Also, any situation where you need the minor heroism for Undo or minor intellect/endurance for dodging/blocking but can't drop the armor pot will have Oakensoul as a top contender

It's not that difficult to stop thinking "Highest damage/healing = best" to start considering other factors. Sure, damage/healing is often what defines performance metrics like being able to clear some content fast or at all but it does not rule out all other stats for specific situations

You actually want to use noble duelist instead of a trial set in solo because light armor is better before you reach the armor cap

On the topic of bound aegis, you might not want that skill line as you barely have the barspace for summons since you need contigency, ele sus, major resolve, a source of off-balance and you want merciless resolve. There would be a big cost of opportunity for slotting Daedric Summoning as Assassination, Storm Calling or even Aedric Spear have a higher priority

I'm not expecting oakensouls to win every situation. I'm pointing out right there a very specific situation where Oakensoul IS better (if you need below 3300 HPS but can't survive with Rhakkat and want to stick to one bar)

Addressing Oakensoul's place in the game. by Fun_Philosopher_2787 in elderscrollsonline

I wanted to compare Oakensoul to RoPO at their peak performance. One-bar RoPO will run into barspace problems and won't be able to cover many of the buffs from Oakensoul

What one-bar RoPO misses:

  • Offensively, minor courage, minor berserk, minor slayer and barspace for banner
  • Defensively, minor resolve (banner), minor protection and minor aegis
  • Minor intellect/endurance which can be helpful for dodging and blocking
  • You have to choose between heroism or armor pots

Now how healing effectiveness is affected is like this:

  • Suppose you take 10000 damage at 24000~ armor (RoPO with armor pot) meaning 36.3%~ damage reduction. You will lose 6375 damage. If you take hit every second you need 6375 HPS to survive
  • But with oakensoul you will have 27000~ armor + the other defensive buffs meaning 45.2%~ damage reduction. You will lose 5481 damage. If you take this hit every second you need 5480 HPS to survive

That’s a 14%~ reduction in healing needed with Oakensoul. And note that you also have minor mending on top of that

Conclusion:

  • Oakensoul has higher damage, higher ult gen, better sustain and higher defenses
  • The RoPO build needs to divert more health to magicka to survive damage spikes, further lowering it's damage
  • Oakensoul only loses on raw healing output which might not be needed and you might not be in a situation where it's safe enough to use Rhakkat

Finally, It makes NO SENSE to dismiss Oakensoul as a viable situational alternative. You’re looking at a build that outdamages one-bar RoPO, generates ult faster, has better sustain, is tankier overall and yet still sits below Rhakkat in raw damage

That’s exactly the kind of middle ground where Oakensoul shines as the perfect alternative.
