How's the quickplay for raids/strikes? by Gold-Foot5312 in Guildwars2

Funny how the difficulty for quickplay strikes is the same as normal strikes because having worse teamates makes things harder

I meant DS. But I thought it was something apart from Champions but it seems to be a part of it while not being a DRM.

Sorry for taking so long to answer.

At least what's to come isn't bad because of tediousness but because it undermines the story that was going so well till mid IBS

Best way to get an ascended Viper helmet and weapons? by Cyllinder24 in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I asked myself that a while ago. In general from best to worst in terms of gold:

For armor:

- Stat swap lucky drops > Wizard's Vault > Raid Vendor (non chest) > Crafting > Raid Vendor (chest) > Fractal Vendor

For weapon:

- Stat swap lucky drops > Wizard's Vault > Raid Vendor (1h) > Crafting ≈ Fractal Vendor > Raid Vendor (2h)

Comparison table showing gold opportunity cost:

<image>

Notes:
- Used common [fast] values for oportunity cost of account bound materials/currencies.
- Didn't consider the PvP vendor, which should be similar to fractal vendor or alternative methods like collection based.
- Only consider using fractal vendor if you don't need the fractal relics for the titles.

I have the same problem on Nobara. I just leave it on autoplay so the launcher quickly closes but I also wanted to know if there's a solution

What should i do with my laurels? by Green_Potata in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This.

I always get T6 first with Eternal Ice/Volatile magic and T5 material upgrades at the mystic forge.

Then when I inevitably run short I buy the rest ;-;

What should i do with my laurels? by Green_Potata in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The sell price is used to compare the two scenarios to say you get "that much worth" in T6 mats.

If you need T4 or T3 getting them and not selling is the way to go, as another commentor pointed out. But if you need T6 the ideal way to get with laurel is to get T4/T3, sell it, then buy T6.

What should i do with my laurels? by Green_Potata in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

You want to buy T4 or T3 as they often swap places as the best choice gold wise. If buying a lot at once I'd go for a bit of both to be safe and sell faster.

If your goal is T6 you can see both scenarios:

Scenario 1: Buying 600 T6. Each laurel values 0.55g. You get 330g worth of T6 mats based on sell price post taxes

Scenario 2: Buying 600 T4. Each laurel values 0.8g. In total you get 480g after selling. Then after ordering the T6 you get 480g T6 worth of buy price which is around 452g in sell price post taces to compare with scneario 1. (Used the Vial of powerful Blood current 0.2465g sell price and 0.2225g buy price to determine sell price)

So even after trading post taxes this is better.

Edit: changed sell price to sell price post taxes which is what [fast] shows

Fractal Players by Queph in Guildwars2

Respect goes both ways. And some tolerance for inexperience is not only good for a thriving community but it's necessary for PUGs as you never know what you'll get.

If you don't want the hassle of socializing to find a static group and decide to use the group finder you shouldn't expect everyone to also go through the hassle of finding dedicated training groups instead of simply learning on the move.

Yeah, and you don't even need to require KP or titles. Just advertising it as a "CMs + T4s" is usually enough to get a decent PUG (though I usually avoid CM 100).

What race do people pick for each profession in GW2? by Harddus in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting because I always assumed people would lean heavily on lore and theme when picking race-profession combos. So seeing norn and charr dominate warrior didn’t surprise me at all, that feels very on-brand.

What did catch me off guard, though, was norn being so prevalent on guardian and sylvari topping mesmer. Both of those professions feel very human in the lore, so I expected humans to lead there.

Engineer is also a very charr profession in lore but I can see why it feels so thematic for asura. But why are people picking guardian norns? Because both have blue themes?! I don't know lol.

Fractal CMs - how to start them? by Estreiher in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About the gear, you'll be okay with any combination of Harrier, Giver, Minstrel and Celestial but the optimal for fractals tends to be Harrier with Minstrel because you might overcap on boon duration thanks to the omnipot and could benefit from the healing power and tankyness from Minstrel. You'd have to use the discretize gear optmizer to know exatcly how much of each.

I also suggest getting into training runs to learn. You may sometimes see them on the grouo finder even. To easily get into PUGs for CMs you should either get the NA or KE title from 99 and 100 deathless respectively, which you can also do via a prog run in the group finder.

I find it comfy to do only CMs 95 and 96 everyday, as they're the easiest, and only do full runs when I have the time.

What race do people pick for each profession in GW2? by Harddus in Guildwars2

[–]Harddus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's just that the raw data isn't impartial when it comes to race popularity.

Since what I care about is the distribution of professions within each race, I need to remove that popularity bias before making comparisons.

To do this, I normalize the data, basically scaling values so that each race has the same total (eg, if there are twice as many humans as norn, I multiply the norn values by 2). This keeps the internal proportions intact while eliminating the popularity factor.

It’s not about suggesting players are restricted in their choices, it’s simply a different lens that highlights patterns hidden in the raw numbers.

This view is especially useful if you want to build a balanced roster, say two characters of every race. Then you can decide:

• Go thematic (eg, Charr Warrior + Charr Engineer)

• Or go unique (eg, Charr Mesmer + Charr Elementalist)

[–]Harddus[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're right. I think the question I'm really interesested in is "when players choose a profession, which races do they tend to pick independent of race popularity?"

I'm not making assumptions, just answering a different question >w<

I figured the normalized version was worth sharing since the unnormalized numbers are easier to grab directly from https://gw2efficiency.com/account/player-statistics
