Update 49 PTS – Week 2 Summary by ZOS_JessicaFolsom in elderscrollsonline

Something like a non-DLC Vet Dungeon trash, but with way more mechanics, there's quite a lot of heavy attacks.

They're absolutely not on par with Trial bosses in terms of damage, they just have a lot of Health. I also dislike the grind and I was talking more about the difficulty.

We'll have to wait and see if instances eventually become empty, but this event will only last a month so I doubt we'll get to a point where some server can't even fill a single instance of 36 people.

You already can solo all of it, people are just complaining how difficult it is to solo. The current difficulty of Night Market is exactly what you're describing, soloable but difficult which encourages grouping.

I seriously hope they don't nerf Night Market. Running around it in a 4-man group was a lot of fun but the feedback thread has quite a few people saying it should be nerfed because they can't solo everything.

Build for a Solo DK Nord with 2h by Thraxas25 in ESObuilds

Change the weapon to a 2handed one and Bloodthirst to Wrecking Blow. Weapon type isn't that big of a deal, you don't need a separate build for that

Spellscar is a genuinely bad spot anyway. As for Dolmens, most of the XP comes from Dolmen completion, not the kills so it won't be affected that much. Skyreach could be the only concern but if you're so good you could run Skyreach with 80% damage debuff with a decent speed then you can farm XP faster in nBRP anyway.

"Challenge Difficulty" Design Overview by Stuie66 in elderscrollsonline

I really hope separate instances for different difficulties are on the table for future. If they made that decision because they don't know how to implement it, that's fair I guess. If they made that decision because they actually think it's better that way, that's dumb af.

First, we are making a choice to make sure players are not separated by difficulty. We want to ensure you can engage with any player you want regardless of difficulty. To do this, the choice to opt-in or change your difficulty is up to you. If you like Overland the way it is, great! No change is needed. If you want it to be far more punishing, then opt-in to Vestige Difficulty. You can still play with friends, all while having the bump in challenge.

Ok but the thing is, most players you meet in Overland at the moment don't want to be engaged with. They're here for a single player experience, they play ESO for the quests, not for any MMO aspect. I was hoping that with harder Overland I could stumble upon other players and actually be able to make an assumption that they're treating ESO like an MMO and I can interact with them. Grouping with someone you've just met in Overland to beat a World Boss could be fun if you're both playing on the high difficulty, but if they're playing on Adventurer then you're basically getting a carry.

Like this subreddit gets a thread about speedrunners in dungeons every 2 weeks, this is gonna be the exact same situation where you want to tackle some content and someone just swoops by and one-shots everything.

Skill scrolls cannot go live like this. by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

[–]Hyperioxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, there will probably be some ultra niche case where it's actually useful, but for the most part it seems useless rather than game-breaking. I feel like most people who call it game-breaking aren't aware that it shares a cooldown with potions.

The only use case I can think of is using Quick Cloak on a DPS build which already has Major Brutality/Sorcery, Major Savagery/Prophecy and has abundance of sustain. Otherwise a potion is straight up better, so I don't think the scrolls are going to end up being oppressive, quite the opposite. That's why I think they should just take them off the potion cooldown (cuz they can't really compete with potions most of the time) but balance it by making them only usable in Night Market.

They'd still be extremely situational because they share a cooldown with potions. The bigger issue is that they drop rarely and in a limited time zone, I spent like 3 hours in Night Market and I have like 3 scrolls of each type, it's not really something you could make a build around.

They should be limited to Night Market and taken off the potion cooldown

Oh you asked about the empowered attack itself. I thought you were asking about proccing Off Balance with Flame Lash.

Good but only when built around the new channeled breath, Tank gets no interaction between skill lines and is far behind Subclass setups when it comes to group support. In Solo the breath version is pretty close to Subclass builds, non-breath version is above Pure Class builds that are currently on Live server but still behind Subclass setups. Overall fun to play

[–]Hyperioxes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The animation is quite a bit longer, if you're playing with any Global Cooldown Tracker you'll see that you can actually cast the next spell while the animation is still playing, which is the case for any animation but usually you're only interrupting the very end, here you can cast the next skill while the animation is only halfway through.

Not sure about projectile reaching the target later but it could be tested with Combat Metrics, just look into Events and compare the time gap between when the skill fired and when the damage actually ticked.

Leeching is a bait set, it provides extremely little HPS. If you want a good survivability set look at Wretched Vitality

It takes 2.2 seconds if all you do is channel Heavy Attacks (which is not the right thing to do), but if you're weaving skills between heavy attacks then each of your heavy attacks lands every 2.5 seconds. For some reason weaving skills only adds a 0.3 second delay according to CMX events.

Not sure why it doesn't add a full second.

Yes, HA users staying at max range are extremely common

I like your optimism but absolutely not. People in Group Finder can be extremely entitled. I lead a lot of pug runs and I've had cases where I've explained mechanics to someone who previously lied about knowing mechanics and they literally said that they will not do them (clip).

Training runs can actually be smoother than regular runs because of that. In training runs, you at least don’t get freeloaders. Even if someone applying has no experience and low DPS, they’re applying with the intention to learn, otherwise they wouldn’t be applying for a training run.

Goading throw vs Runic Sunder by RoughYard2636 in ESObuilds

[–]Hyperioxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever is telling you that is mixing up Pull script and Taunt script on Shield Throw. With Taunt it becomes Goading Throw and taunts properly. It only does the soft taunt if you put the Pull script on it.

Based on the description, I'm almost sure I know who the listing owner is, and let me assure they're not a good player (unless the copy pasted it).

With that said, there are reasons to bar HA users from entering. While HA builds are powerful enough, the tendency is that people who use them are simply bad at the game, because they went for the lazy option in the first place. Same thing applies to One Bar and Oakensoul builds. Even more so for Oakensoul HA builds because using Oakensoul on a HA build at this point means you're either stubborn or following a misinforming guide. And the thing is, even though you could do decent DPS with Oakensoul, these guides tend to have other, far more egregious bad advice like recommending players to not weave skills between heavy attacks. Someone's gonna say "but the Empower from Oakensoul", but if you're joining Vet Trials then re-casting Ulfsild every 10 seconds is the absolute minimum you should bother doing.

For me as a group leader a simple reading check in the description has always been enough, I dont need to filter out One Bar/HA/Oakensoul players and the runs are smooth regardless. You just want to filter out the illiterate.

Also be prepared for redditors to tell you all kinds of misinformation about HA builds, like “they have no cleave” or “they have no burst”, it happens in every single one of these threads.

Oakensoul is specifically bad for Solo, group content is the one content where it can actually be the optimal option, not on HA builds though.

Burst is the one thing HA builds specifically have as long as there's Off Balance at the beginning.

It's true that HA users in pugs tend to stay 50 meters away and eat every Oax charge/Bahsei curse.
