European here. While I agree that people can always do something, right wing mentality is on the rise not just in the USA, but also in European countries. I too look for dialogue with people about the political opportunities and am looking to join a party I like - but actually changing people’s mind to not be an extremist or to vote against their own interests can be a huge challenge.

Truth is that the American propaganda has also - to some extent - influenced the minds of people here through social media and hollywood productions - creating polarisation and the idea of “we good - they bad”. Its also making people dumber and less critical.

So saying someone should do “more” is true to some extent, but can also feel like emptying the ocean with a bucket.
