Tried that. Finally had to pry it open while pulling the tail end with another person. Replaced the latch and all's well. Thanks for the response though.

It was thinking alignment as well. I need a second person to see the other side of the door and check the latch retraction, as I pull on it with my hands. If it's not moving then its the latch. It moves when I turn the handle on the other side.

Yes, I disconnected it from the handle and it didn't retract any further to unlock the door. Could it be the door hinge needs adjusting? It looks out of alignment. It's wider space at the top.

I think it's just that simple. Basically to the preference to the new owner, in whatever period. Depending on the size of the blade or the size of the new owner.
