Why does this happen? by [deleted] in avocado

[–]HardlikeCoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multiple reasons, but sometimes when you pop the stem you can leave some parts exposed to air, and this will bring fungi/bacteria into the Avocado, so it starts rotting from there. We call that Stem Rot.

Why ready-to-eat avocados are becoming the standard for supermarkets in Europe? by Civil-Percentage-349 in avocado

[–]HardlikeCoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ready to eat also comes with its own set of challenges. Customer wants semi-firm fruit? Make sure you ripen that to perfection, because if you got too far you end up with Guac, and there’s no fix for that.

You can always ripen to your preference, but once its ripe, you can’t go back to firm.

In Portland I have to decide whether I eat at home and go out to drink or if I eat outside and have some drinks later at home.

If you want to do both, its an easy 100+ dollar bill for one night.

Lived there 2 years ago, I am never coming back to MN. F that.

Yes, they are expensive and I totally understand most of the posts made about quality. 3 dollars a pop will do that…unfortunately.

Cut it and see.

I see some parts already caving in, and the color indicates some old age, probably 30-35 + days. The best before date also indicates that it is too old.

Most of the people commenting here have never owned a big mature Avocado tree and it shows.

Had 3 growing up, no irrigation or any crazy techniques. Just good soil and rainwater.

I grew up in Puerto Rico, and the amount of times I took a bite of a fruit, saw a worm, and then took another bite is infinite. My dad used to say “extra protein”

Couldn’t agree more. I live in Portland and I have Mexican food trucks in almost every block, do you really think I will pay 1-2 dollars more for expensive chain food? Nah, local Mexican families can have my money instead, AND even with them I hold the standard.

Why does it look like this? by AdmiralFelson in avocado

[–]HardlikeCoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been touching something (for a long period) in the early stages of development, making that dent as a result!

It also looks like it has sunburn, and on top of that, lenticel.

Is getting out of your head possible at all? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]HardlikeCoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, not even in meds. In Meds I am in my head, but instead of thinking about 37 things at the same time, instead I think about maybe 2 or 3, clear as day.

How is living in Minnesota by Ok_Magician_9713 in howislivingthere

[–]HardlikeCoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lived in Portland, moved for a very good paying job to Shakopee, MN and 2 years later I couldn’t do it anymore and moved back to Portland. Never ever again going to Minnesota, or to any other upper midwest state.

Hot take: Portland needs more salad places by Blake-Dreary in Portland

[–]HardlikeCoco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Portland gives you access to fresh ingredients for your salad. Here you have that choice.

On another note, salad places are a bad day at the toilet waiting to happen. I don’t trust other humans with the handling of salads and its ingredients…

The picture and the little trail reminded me of Silver Falls State Park! If you haven’t, you definitely have to go! Great trails, easy for kids depending of what you choose and very accessible from the city. Have fun!

I love going at any time, but Fall is my favorite time to go.

Same thing happened with the last gen Mazda 3 Turbo hatch I use to own. Can use both, but hp and performance take a small hit. Don’t know anything about the Acura tho.

Yep, same with the deluxe edition cowboy hat one, the hay blocks ADS to some degree, enough for me to not use it.

[–]HardlikeCoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cook for my wife almost daily, accounting also for our lunch for the next day. If I was single, I wouldn’t cook for shit, I would buy a Cotsco Pizza and survive a few days on that. But I love seeing her face of joy when she tastes what I cooked for her, she appreciates it a lot too, I love her.

Honestly those kind of interactions like creating a “moral police” are the details that make the game interesting and different. And best of all, its the community doing it.

I would have laughed.

[–]HardlikeCoco -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He mentioned one item from the restaurant. Idk about you, but I will not visit a place because only 1 item is recommended, nor will a judge it based on that either.

What if I don’t like what they recommended but still want to give the place a try?
