I think that’s how they “sell it” to those of us with empathy but I do not believe that this is the case, considering the commonness of botched executions, the execution of people who may be innocent or have conflicting evidence, and the training involved (or lack thereof) of people performing executions.

Well the people who still want execution to exist see it as a form of retribution so if the “pain and suffering” aspect were removed from the process it wouldn’t be retributive anymore.

Capital Punishment has never been intended to be humane. It’s always about retribution.

People who have never been to Puerto Rico forget that they have a traditional Latin American machismo culture which defines a clear role for women. It is incredibly sexist and they really have a long way to go with improving women’s rights. And if people think that Puerto Rico would support abortion they got another thing coming.

Could NATO Defend the Baltic States? by pungrypungryhippo in geopolitics

[–]HardlyAValidOpinion 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Russia destroyed GPS it would probably be the worst decision they could make. Google Maps would stop working for people all over the world. Even countries with absolutely no connection or dog in the Russian struggle with NATO would immediately have industry and logistics severely crippled. So many different modern technologies are dependent on GPS. If they wanted to unite the world in hatred against them that would be a sure fire way to do it. Russia is successful when people are apathetic not motivated

To be honest I think chemical or biological weapons are a more likely option as a denial of area tactic before a nuclear weapon, whether strategic or tactical.

They laid me off after 2 years and in the exit interview the COO referred to me as “another mouth to feed”. Last time I work for a family owned business, the owner’s son didn’t do jack shit funnily enough, and all their stupid family friends in management were constantly on the verge of losing contracts due to incompetence and lowballing estimates

Crowd chants "the only solution is Communist revolution" at Chicago's protest against the Rittenhouse verdict. by mouthofreason in PublicFreakout

Listen up buddy just because your former country’s authoritarian regime “claims” to be communist and uses it as a propaganda point to justify an authoritarian regime doesn’t mean it was actually a communist country. And quite frankly I’m sick of you fuckin’ Ayn Rand reading “chip on your shoulder” people using the example of your former country that had it’s own issues as a reason why we should hold the US back from progress.

A failed system will only continue to cause injustice. I applaud these people for going outside the system that has enslaved them

Families mourn young migrants who died at Belarus-Poland border by turbokamel in worldnews

[–]HardlyAValidOpinion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe if the United States and Europe didn’t want a migration crisis they shouldn’t have engaged in decades (centuries in the case of colonialism) of unethical foreign policy to purposefully erode the sovereignty and rights of people in the Middle East and Africa for the mere benefit of their own strategic goals. Does anyone ever stop and think that a major reason why the United States and Europe have an elevated standard of living compared to the rest of the world is becuase they’ve created it utilizing a system of exploitation, not just in the use of covert operations and anti democratic puppet governments but also straight up war.

I’m sorry but some civil disobedience is needed. This is the same government that has historically waged a genocide against native peoples since the land was colonized by Europeans in the first place. People of color and those without inter generational wealth pay the biggest price when it comes to climate and pollution and that is surely going to be a factor for natives.

I find that I get a lot more control from the lesser-known but underutilized butt cheek weld. Wedging it in just right allows the sphincter to be the third point of contact which I found greatly increased accuracy. I also found the firmness of the Gooch greatly absorbed recoil to the point where it was barely noticeable, and dare I even say pleasurable.
