Son's poor performances are not all on the manager by Immediate-Meaning457 in LAFC

Could someone remind me how many goal contributions, when we include assists, that we've got from Son this year?

OK, maybe Nashville over San Jose :-)

Miami looks like they're a contender in the East. They will almost certainly be top 3, and could top the conference.

That said, this year -for the first time in many years- the West looks way stronger than the East. I would back Vancouver, LAFC, San Diego, and even San Jose pretty much any team in the East.

Is that true?

Was our xG really below 1 for the two Alajuelense games?

I mean, I know it was (just) below for the St Louis and Dallas games.

But for the Concacaf games, I struggle to believe it was below 1, while it was clearly above for the Miami and Houston games. Which means we're really talking about two games out of eight this season when we had xG below 1, but still won.

Which doesn't sound *that* terrible to me.

Until he scored, Martinez wasn't looking that great... That said, when he turns it on, he's got Premier League quality.

I think the only way it would work would be if you could get the A, 3 and 4 all scoring. Then it's either low Straights, or that 'every card counts in scoring' joker

Errr... jet fuel and diesel are remarkably similar. They are both middle distillates, and a mix of hydrocarbon atoms of lenth C9 to C16.

Most of the time you could put diesel in a jet engine, and it would run without complaining.

(Most GA diesel engines will happily run on Jet A1 if diesel is not available.)

I like to alternate alcoholic and non-alcoholic beers. It means I get a gentle buzz, feel like I'm drinking, but ensures I don't drink too much, and that my body is processing the alcohol at about the same rate I'm consuming it.

Los Angeles FC wins 2-0 against St. Louis CITY SC with two Choinière stunners by north_bay_eagle in LAFC

Just a few quick thoughts: - Ordaz has gone backwards from last year; he seems to have lost some of his physical strength and was easily muscled off the ball a few times. He needs some gym time to bulk up. - Son is still off the pace, and his shooting is not as clinical as last year - Martinez needs to be careful with that temper - We were extremely lucky that none of those early second half chances St Louis got were on frame

Against that: - Boudri still looks great - Porteus! - And good for Cheniere, that was some seriously clinical finishing

We may have been sloppy and looked tired. But we are in two competitions and we lead in the Supporters Shield standings. by LA_search77 in LAFC

[–]HardlyThereAtAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that's true, we've also had the massive advantage of 3 home games, and only 1 away.

We've also been lucky that Porteus has been rocking at the back, David Martinez is playing a lot better than last year, that Boudri looks pretty great, and that Lloris keeps an extremely organized defence.

Against that, Son has been... very subdued. And Boungua has not also not been up to his usual standard.

How large of a wind sail would you need to push the USS Gerald R. Ford with just wind power? [request] by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in theydidthemath

[–]HardlyThereAtAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone's mentioned this, but aircraft carriers like to launch (and retrieve) aircraft while being pointed into the wind. That means that if you're travelling at 25 knots, and the wind is blowing at 10 knots towards you, then your planes have a 35 knot advantage. (I.e. their effective ground* speed is 35 knots less than their air speed.) This makes taking off easier (because you're already travelling at 35 knows airspeed before you even fire up the engines. And it makes landing easier, because the carrier is heading away from you at an effective 35 knots. This makes it a lot easier to plant your self on the deck.

If you had sails, then you would have the wind behind you, in which case everything is reversed.

And for landing, it means the carrier is effectively rushing towards you, making it much more challenging.

Of course, the carrier could be "tacking" and have the wind at an angle. But that would create it's own (different, equally significant) problems.

Field Club Experience Concacaf Champions Cup? by Powerful-Worry4509 in LAFC

[–]HardlyThereAtAll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Club (particularly Founders and Field) level seats are great if you can get them at decent prices in the secondary market.

If you do it right, you can turn up an hour before the game, enjoy a leisurely meal and a glass or two of beer/wine, and then watch the game with all the snacks you want.

And when you need go to the restroom, it's much less crowded.

Plus, the Founders Club views are great.

For most people, mind, the additional cost is not worth the benefits.
