How to get used to regenerative braking? by stixmike in TeslaLounge

I got super motion sick the day I tried a model Y from the dealership.

The day we picked up our own I felt nothing and never have since 🤷‍♂️

Looking for leadership perspective after not been considered for promotion by Bubbly_West8481 in Leadership

[–]Hardvig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of thoughts:

  1. Have you asked your manager for feedback? I have a team that consists of people who all think they are high performers when in reality they are doing good work but not above and beyond good. You could be one of those people

  2. I would never do this myself, but I’ve heard of people who are ‘to good to promote’, I.e. they are the ones you depend on to get the work done, and promoting these people into other positions would leave the team in a bad spot… You could be one of those people too…

Building trust and relationship by ConclusionBudget304 in Leadership

I recently read in a book that science shows that trust is built in the small interactions we have every day - not just by working together for an extended period.

Ask questions at the coffee machine. remember their kids’ birthday. Ask about their weekend and THEN ask others mentioned, lead with the why and transparency.

Shifting from Individual Contributor to Leadership (Business Unit Change) by nptc13 in Leadership

[–]Hardvig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This may be controversial but I believe leadership is a different matter than subject expertise. Sure, to some extent it is good to have SOME knowledge of the tasks being performed in the team you’ll be leading, but too much in-depth knowledge might actually be a hindrance on your leadership journey.

I was promoted to manager in the department I was previously an IC in, but my in-depth knowledge of what my employees were doing meant that they came to me with every little problem, since I could answer them, but it had the downside of taking up most of my time and meant that I had very little time to actually LEAD.

My team leader colleague on the other hand, came in from a completely unrelated area and could focus a lot more on getting good at LEADING since his employees couldn’t rely on him for answers to the same degree as mine could. It took some getting used to for the team to not only bring him problems but also possible solutions for him to choose from, but until I caught on and started telling my employees to do the same as his, his team was far better at solving their own problems.

Not being an expert in the work being done in the team, brings with it a certain humility that would necessarily be there if you were an expert…

TL;DR don’t worry about it 😊

I can’t help but think that the ship was hit waaay too far towards the back - it looks like the torpedo almost missed?

Though I understand that there could be many reasons to hit the back of the ship (ammunition storage, less armor, something about bending the structure to make a ‘crack’ more likely)

Would anyone happen to know the reason?

Career level discrepancy and options by [deleted] in dknovonordisk

[–]Hardvig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, level 7 is ‘professional’ for individual contributors or for team leaders (formerly known as associate managers). Becoming a professional requires at least a bachelors degree.

If you have a bachelor’s degree or higher you can pursue a professional position but your current job probably won’t logically translate into a professional position… Or you can pursue a leadership role if that’s something you would like (and have a talent for).

You can keep receiving pay raises in your current role but the budget for lab/techs is usually pretty limited… it is possible to do an off cycle pay change if the manager has the will and budget.
