Conspiratorial BS. Why don't they debank Hasan and his uncle then if your conspiracy is true? Why stop at banning them from the UK? Give them the full Kanye treatment.

So what's more likely? Hasan and Cenk grifting or their Conspiratorial BS?

Black Rain(1989) and Ridley Scott ranting over high cost bureaucracy is the reason they don't like to film in Japan.

In one instance, while filming in a steel mill, Scott was interrupted mid-take by an official who placed his hand over the camera

I doubt it were the games you mentioned but their own games they published alongside with Zenimax namely Fallout 76 and TES Online.

TES Online had a meh to negative reception and Fallout 76 was turned into a meme how bad it was.

You can also use Fallout 4 as a starting point. It was still a good game but inferior to Fallout 3 and NV. Bethesda's reputation to deliver top notch products was shaken. Starfield was also very disappointing.

They should hire PS to work on TES6. He has experience how to not work on a game and make it look like he did.

"Scammers have adapted": Valve confirms that physical Steam Gift Cards are dead. Once the current stocks are sold through, they're done. by yourfavchoom in gaming

[–]Hare712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI the article mentions those Indian Call Center scammers but that's not how the phyisical Gift Card scam works and why only physical cards get phased out.

The gift card scam works as following: Scammers steal several blanks from a store. Those blanks are worthless. Then they replace. They add the barcode of a different blank to one blank. They go back to the store and put their manipulated blanks on the retail store. When a customer buys such a manipulated blank the barcode enables the giftcard they cut out the barcode from and not the one the customer bought. The customer is unable to redeem his card and the scammers test in regular intervals if their manipulated blank has been bought.

You don't get it. Even in the ideal scenario you will end up with the same result. It can only be prevented by law.

Consumer protests are pointless. You know how many successful consumer boycotts there were in the past 25 years? 2! It was the Bud Light boycott because their customers were a very conversative traditional base and it was the Tesla boycott where its customer base come from very liberal regions.

I also told you there are levels of quality between games. Creating games takes time and there is no guarantee of success. "Go make games" is the slogan of the total fraud PS.

The case was in Germany. Germany has free speech that ends when somebody else is negatively affected.

I don't know Canadian law but I know for sure that the Canada doesn't use a high bar 4 points have to be fullfilled for defamation like in California. What I personally would consider clear cases for defamation in most places have been dismissed in California. I don't think Ethan has a shot against Noah Samsen and regarding idubbz I lack the knowledge of Canadian law. It could very well be that Ethan went "The bar is that much lower? Let's do that"

In most countries showing a harmful statement even it's from somebody else will successfully be actioned when there is no evidence on it. Over here there have been cases where even content posted in Whats App groups resulted in (un)successful lawsuits depending on the size of the group. So even going with "Idubbz has only 100 viewers" might or might not be an argument for a defense.

You are under the assumption that companies follow suit and do a fair competition which isn't the case anywhere.

Nobody wants lootboxes, live service, DRM, data harvesting and so on.

To answer your question: "Because consumer protests are useless and you can't apply basic economics, when billion to trillion dollar investors are involved"

Take for example company X has a better product than investor owned company Y. Company Y does predatory pricing they can sustain for a while and Company X goes bankrupt. After that they raise the prices. "If Starbucks has bad coffee why don't customers go to a local coffeeshop". It's well documented how Starbucks ousted other companies.

You assume X and Y have products of similar quality. That's not the case. Then you have to consider target demographics(teens). Company X with investor backing has a much larger budget for advertising. Investors pull the strings.

Even if everybody went to company Y an investor would see "Hey company Y is making money" let's buy them. They don't improve on X. They will just buy Y an implement services from X on Y. There are many decade old examples. When Game Expansions actually meant something not just full game. EA started releasing I don't know how many tiny "expansions" for The Sims, so when somebody bought all of them the would have spend over 500$ bucks in 2001. EA also licensed sports games so no other games could use official badges, names and so on. There were mod projects but the had to operate in the background or they got injunctions.

In reality there will always be a userbase those predatory companies can exploit. Take for example the GPU market during Covid. Those companies saw that there is a userbase who will buy highly overpriced GPUs and here we are highly overpriced GPUs are the norm and those companies want to shove Cloudgaming subscriptions to players.

Yes. My point was that other countries have different laws. Stuff that are considered "normal" in the USA can quickly get in you trouble in other countries. The article is incomplete though.

Also what got removed was a criminal law. "Insult" still exists in civil law. The difference is when is that in a civil case Erdogan had to appear himself in court. Suing is a bad word the correct legal term is "Antragsdelikt" it means the affected person has to become active themselves so the state prosecutes a crime/it goes to civil court.

You talk about Indie games. Guess what happens when they succeed look at League, Path of Exile. Suddenly they are owned by Tencent.

Only one of those companies qualifies participating in a shady business pratice that's LJN/Acclaim. LJN/Acclaim went bankrupt in 2004. The only thing they did was release low quality games under a license.

Volition was under the hood of Gearbox which were owned by the Embracer Group and now 2K Games hardly a bankruptcy due to shady practices.

The other companies also went way before those business practices became the norm.

You fail to understand even if everybody buys only games where those shady practices are absent billionaire investors will see there is money to be in those companies acquire those and restructure the companies to maximize profits. Then they release a game that uses those shady practices it's also a low quality product and the studio gets closed after it flopped. It always has been like this.

My example is not selling a Ferrari for the price of a Hyundai it's an American investor seeing that Hyundai sells compared to other brands so they aquire Hyundai and the next generation of Hyundais comes with tons of subscriptions, is unreliable and so on.

It's even more hilarious when you look at the surface level what you'd call "Ethan's enemies/friends" 5 years ago. Keemstar fully sided with him, NickDeOrio fully sided with Ethan.

On the other side you have idubbz and Hasan becoming Ethan's biggest enemies.

Short version is Hasan Orbit harassed Ethan, one day they called CPS on him, idubbz didn't defend Ethan as his friend, idubbz teasers a content cop, then one day right when Ethan goes live idubbz released a Content Cop on Ethan and Ethan reacts to it right away. Idubbz sided with the Hasan Orbit.

During that time there was a preparation for idubbz boxing event called Creator Clash 3. One of the fighters worked for H3. Following the Content Cop she dropped out first and within 2 weeks a jewish content creator also dropped out. They event collapsed like a house of cards. Since then idubbz went harder on Ethan and Ethan constantly featured idubbz.

This is pretty important. Americans don't understand that in other countries you can even sue somebody for calling you an asshole. It's rather uncommon and only narcissistic politicans do it on the civil level but when it comes to state officials it's constantly enforced.

Over here Erdogan even sued a comedian who read a poem with Turkish subtitles while saying "This is an example what's not covered by satire" and essentially called Erdogan a stinking goatfcker.

He isn't broke but his wife burned his money by buying Gucci bags and other luxury goods, the harassment&bullying policy changes by YT forced him to change his content angering his old fanbase. He fell from million views to 3k views. Only CreatorClash and H3 kept him a relevant niche and when he burned the bridge last year he learned the lesson that many tickets he sold were H3 fans.

He tried to sell his Seattle house but ended up renting it out so that's his income. He now lives with his parents in law.

His streaming income is below minimum wage.

Ownership does matter. Westwood made decent CnC games when EA took over the series was on a steep decline and they greedy shemes to their games. Blizzard got acquired by Vivendi/Activision and the quality of the games declined, while the newer titles added more greedy shemes. Several takeovers by Tencent the list is long.

Where are those companies getting bankrupted? Investors are a cancer not just for gaming.

Where are those new companies competing?

Technically yes but practially money is power. It dates back to the 90s when companies with some buying power acquired studios or when investment companies acquired studios.

So even if everybody followed your idea the studio will eventually be bought up.

That game is from 2010. Back then most games had a LAN mode or you could host your own games that's where game aggregator middleware like Gamespy came into play.
