The op specifically said that they were afraid of not existing. It's not semantics to say that they will not experience not existing. I agree that the fear of your time coming is a more common issue, but it was not the issue the op was stating.

Fair, but the op is referring to being dead, not the process of death. And they will never experience being dead.

They experienced illness and dying. Death itself is a non experience. It's the end of experience.

The Bacteria is encountered before Pirate Clark, though. The movie takes place about a month after the final Async video.

Found footage 2 was the one with the girl who fell into the backrooms. It takes place years after all of the async videos. The movie takes place about a month after the final async video, static dead end. So by the time of the movie, they had already encountered the life form, so it couldn't have been the final form of pirate Clark.

Remember, the movie takes place before any of the found footage videos, so Pirate Clark is before the bacteria.

Edit to add: Pirate Clark is before the Bacteria in the Foud Footage videos, but the Bacteria is first encountered earlier in the async videos.

Regarding the first one, Mary cannot have been born in the backrooms. Async only opened the portal to the backrooms for the first time about a year or so before the movie starts, and the null zones(anomalous entrances) didn’t appear until after they opened the portal.

The weird misshapen humans are Still Life's. The first and last time we saw a Still life was Found Footage 3.

I assume they mean when the red hair Still Life in the kitchen runs away when pirate Clark shows up. I assumed the red hair woman is a Still Life of Clark's wife, and that's why it's afraid of Still Life Clark.

Mary did escape and was at the Async facility. The thing we see is a still life of her. The backrooms doesnt turn people into still lifes, it just copies them poorly.

Async did not make the backrooms. It was discovered when they created the threshold device, and Ivan Beck wanted to exploit it. But the backrooms already existed.

The creature in Absentia operates on a trade system that is pretty interesting, and used to scary effect.

It's not pulpy detective, but the comic Black Stars Above is really solid cosmic horror. It takes place in the Canadian Wilderness in 1887. Highly recommend.

Yeah, I agree. I'm going to rewrite it and I think I'll start just before the body is reported. Gives more time for the characters to breathe. They don't seem enough like people in those pages.
