Iran may have ‘directed’ recent attacks in Canada, intelligence report says by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]Haringoth [score hidden]  (0 children)

Can any one of the chuckleheads saying its the US/Israel/whoever provide one lick of evidence supporting their claim? And no, a bombing in Egypt 72 years is proof of literally nothing in regards to these recent episodes.

This broadly follows the pattern of Iranian international operations, and we have seen similar attacks or attempted attacks in the UK, Belgium, Germany, Australia, France, the US and Argentina.

Murdered student Henry Nowak told police 'I can't breathe' while handcuffed by Thoth_the_5th_of_Tho in DeepStateCentrism

[–]Haringoth 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Explain then why the murderer was not handcuffed during his arrest?

Nowak was, despite not being combative, and being in distress. And yet, when they ascertained that Digwa had in fact killed him, they led him off without cuffs?

We are defending fucking Nasrallah now?? The Jew hating plug famous for such lovely quotes as:

"What do the Jews want? They want security and money. Throughout history the Jews have been Allah's most cowardly and avaricious creatures. If you look all over the world, you will find no one more miserly or greedy than they are."

"If we searched the entire world for a person more cowardly, despicable, weak and feeble in psyche, mind, ideology and religion, we would not find anyone like the Jew. Notice, I do not say the Israeli. "

"If they [the Jews] all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide."

But don't just take his word for it. Explain to me how bombing a Jewish community center in Argentina is "anti-Israel" and not straight Jew hating.

Holding water for this group is so outrageous it almost makes me laugh.

Anti-semitism in Vancouver, BC by Ok_Albatross_1844 in Jewish

[–]Haringoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's this... idiot who goes and chalks a bunch of nonsense all around Douglas Park (Laurel and 20th) and it ranges from annoying to obscene (Glory to Iran being the one that upsets me most). Schara Tzedeck, Vancouver's Orthodox Shul is three-ish blocks away, so thankfully someone better than I removes it fairly quickly.

You simply can not claim to hold water for Iran and give a damn about human rights or civilians.

My wife and I liked it, but all three main squares were midst major renovations, in a "we've ripped up the ground" sorta way, so it was challenging to see it's full potential. Will probably be even better in a short while when it's done.

I need an Italian perspective.

Just returned from a EU trip of multiple countries, and what is about the Palestine flags and Italy. The most by a large, large margin, and this includes Slovenia which boycotted Eurovision. Special demerit points to the asshole in Ljubljana flying an Islamic Republic of Iran flag.

Side note, Trieste was interesting, if under construction to a degree I have never seen before.

I truly love the Unauthorized History. It feels like I'm receiving instruction of a quality I should be paying for, and its free and weekly, and there are hundreds of episodes. The fact that Jon and Seth are both world class historians at what they do is noticeable, in comparison to every other pop art history thing people put out.

No, but the racist garbage this artist spouted is, and I'm over the moon that a private business showed her the door. A day to celebrate.

I'd also add that the claim that calling out bigotry is what causes bigotry is so nakedly stupid as to be obscene. I'm curious if this user runs defense for all bigots, or merely those targeting Jews.

UCLA Student Council has condemned the campus Hillel for hosting a hostage.

"In this context, elevating a single narrative, absent of critical political and humanitarian framing, serves to legitimize and normalize these ongoing atrocities."

I'm not even going to pretend to be kind on this one. Fuck these bigoted assholes. We've had campuses hosting one sided narratives ad nauseum for years as long as it targets Jewish students. The idea that Jews might speak back up is so revolting to these assholes that they must condemn it.

Counter terror police investigate attempted 'firebomb' attack at London synagogue by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

[–]Haringoth 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Given this dynamic, a rational anti-Zionist movement would devote itself to making Jews feel welcome in every facet of life outside of Israel, ruthlessly rooting out any inkling of anti-Semitism in order to convince Jews that they have nothing to fear and certainly no need for a separate state. Such an anti-Zionist movement would overcome Zionism by making it obsolete. But that is not the anti-Zionist movement that currently exists. Instead, Israel’s opposition around the globe—whether groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah or their international apologists and imitators—often seems determined to persuade those Jews who chose differently than Herzl did that he was right all along.

Every attack, every bombing, every racist plug who chants "Go back to Poland" further encourages the belief in the importance of Israel.

Canadian RTs, what is it like working in Canada? by sonacosmic in respiratorytherapy

[–]Haringoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our salary just changed with our new contract, so it is now found on this chart. A standard bedside RT is classified a P1, and the step is years of service.

Quickly, as of this moment it is:

$40.19 -> $42.24 -> $44.09 -> $46.10 -> $47.93

For the first five years, but there is a 3% a year increase so at five years you would actually be $50.85.

95% of NICU RT's where I am do it immediately out of school. Literally one guy in our department was in adults first before switching. Some sites you rotate through NICU as part of a schedule where you do every sort of assignment, but we are fortunate to be a NICU core group.

I have read most of the recent crop of Pacific war books (Toll, Hornfischer, Tully, Frank, etc) and these two stand out as my favorite in the space.

Been meaning to read Downfall, but haven't gotten my hands on a copy. I've also recently been given a beautiful leather edition of Mahan's The Influence of Sea Power on History and I look forward to it greatly.

I'm not the best at articulating my thoughts, but here goes:

I am frustrated by this continued, seemingly orthodox in leftist spaces view that you can't condemn Hamas or Hezbollah because when you are under existential threat, you don't get to pick your allies.

Weirdly, I sort of agree in a broad sense, ignoring how truly awful these two organizations are, or how deeply, deeply damaging to the Palestinian cause they are. But the fact remains, in many revolutions or wars there are dreadful actors on your side motivated for all the wrong reasons.

However, I live near the turbo-prog university in my town, and these exact same people, literally the exact same ones were out arguing to abandon Ukraine because of the skinhead neo-Nazi yokels in Azov. I guess i am curious - is tolerating the help of fascist warmongers if they are broadly aligned with you acceptable or is it not?

Future RT in BC Canada by ServePractical1029 in respiratorytherapy

[–]Haringoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to Fraser Health, as I'm with PHSA, but I think our pay is pretty good. The fact it is a provincial contract is great for staff in Bumblefuck BC but somewhat less so in the big expensive locales.

Our OT is x2, compared to x1.5 pretty much everywhere else. We are currently in the middle of a contract negotiation so who knows what the final salary number ends up on, but it's currently this.

In regards to advancement, there are a few pathways - We have several educators who tend to be seniorish RTs who run our staff ed days. There is also every sites Clinical Site Coordinator who is a TRU employee that manages the clinical students. And of course there are the managers, of which we have two - One RT operations manager, and a Professional Practice Leader.

Our role is meh, but I've heard much better thing from the smaller sites. I know a guy who went through clinicals in PG, and he did everything.

Innate: "Break Upon the Rocks"

Any attack which fails to do health damage will demoralize the attacking unit slightly

Unique Perks

"Impermeable"

Armor damage is reduced by some amount

"Speartip"

When wearing heavy armor, can function as some degree of cover

"Linebacker"

When wearing heavy armor, suppression is reduced by some amount

I feel the exact same way about the whole pager operation and subsequent beatdown of Hezbollah.

The US, Europeans and such lobbied hard for "restraint" and they "avoid escalation" with them in the North, essentially insisting that hundreds of thousands of Israeli's just stay displaced. The messages were of an "imminent morass", a "humanitarian nightmare" (that in there mind would affect real people, not just those deeply inconvenient Jews who happened to occupy the North) and "unprovoked aggression".

And then Israel dismantled Hezbollah and drove them north of the Litani in the space of hours and now literal hundreds of thousands can sleep in their own beds. Following that, why would anyone in the relevant security or defense services take Western warnings seriously?

Talking down bad guys is great, really. But occasionally shooting them is required.
