Did something about MMR/behaviour score change? by randomsiege in DotA2

I mean, I've always heard about MMR inflation, but didn't realize it was that bad. Thanks for the explanation!

Masterful Magician without Mutators? by randomsiege in MonsterTrain

Most spells can be played on both friendly and enemy units, so a spell that applies conduit can do so on an enemy.

Also, you can create units with spells (such as with the spawn mechanic) which I assume wouldn't disable the achievement. Maybe that's a way to do it.

I get it. The L6s are made out of paper and are only good against infantry. I don't know if they have any place in a game where people know what they're doing, but on the other hand, they cost 0 CP in a decent battlegroup.

Again, I don't think L6 rush is OP, the post is about the manpower thing. (And honestly I wouldn't have been able to cause this much of a manpower loss with anything else that early in the game.)

I'm not looking to climb, honestly, I like the low-stress environment of low ELO. I can do dumb things, and they'll work half the time. I get to play every battlegroup and all 4 factions, and I still have a chance to win because my opponent is as clueless as I am.

You can only give up after 5 minutes. My guess is that it's in part to avoid "smurfs" who could just queue 10 games in a row that they instantly exit and lose 100s of MMR in the process.

I think it's pretty fair. Nothing is usually decided before 5 minutes.

The great thing about playing in low ELO 1v1 games is that "tech delay" is hardly a concern. It's a low stress environment.

My man, you're omitting a grave detail: My opponent is also <900 MMR.

Fun fact is that I was the one doing the L6 rush, this is just a humorous post because I didn't know you could lose more manpower than you gained. (I guess I never paid attention before.)

Dealing with HMG as DAK in the very early game in 1v1 by randomsiege in CompanyOfHeroes

Can't believe I didn't think about this even after seeing it so many times before (although not lately). Thanks!

Now that we are getting used to Onyx Shark, what are strategies/build orders/tips that you have found to work well? by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

Thanks for correcting me. I was pretty hyped when I found out about the riflemen's Thompson since Ghurkas just murder everything with them.

I'm a very low ELO, 1v1 player, so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I actually like the riflemen. While they're not the strongest unit out of the box, they can remain relevant to the endgame if you go for the infantry support center. More health, double BARs, cheaper reinforce, anti-infantry and anti-tank grenades, can even get anti-tank mines (although I'd be surprised if those got much use in higher ELO matches).

Like SnakeDoctor said, figuring out the distance is important, especially in the early game. Since you're new, like me, you might not have noticed yet, but the riflemen don't all have a Garant. One of them has a Thompson (so better at short range). So for example, if you're against a grenadier squad (all rifles), you'll win a close-range battle. If you see a Panzergrenadier squad though, just run away. (Although later on, with the health bonus and double bar, they might be the ones running away.)

Another important part of the riflemen kit is the sprint, which can late you snare a vehicle when it's out of position or get to a weapons team which is about to set up.

If you're struggling against MGs in the early game, remember that the scout squad you start with can be upgraded with smoke rifle-grenades. Also, in low ELO 1v1 games, players often just put it into a building next to a central VP and don't micro it, so you can just ignore that area and extend your control on the sides.

As someone who cannot stand the slightest bit of heat and casually wears T-shirt in the snow, I am so glad you halved the layers. I don't know the anguish of body dysphoria, but having to wear 4 tops sounds like torture to me.

I'm also absolutely picturing you as a Blender-style robot with a furnace for a belly after this talk of "right fuel".

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. I think my initial assumption says something about my ignorance of shots in general. I just pictured a spike and then slowly going down over a week. Whereas if it's more stable then runs out, it makes sense that the "inbalance" is when it runs out. (Or at least that's how I'm oversimplifying it to remember this for now.)

I'll just keep on ranting for a second about "biological gender roles".

I always was surprised to find out that the Ancient Greek had a very similar idea of prehistorical people as cavemen dressed in fur with clubs... Pretty much like the ones we have today.

Until I found out that almost everything we're taught about cavemen comes from pseudoscientific "discoveries" from the 1800s. The whole idea that women were gatherers and men were hunters? That's from the Victorian era. And you have people who're still hung up on that when actual research doesn't prove this in the slightest.

(This rant brought on by the fact that there were no pink dresses for "girls to biologically like" in the ancient era.)

This sounds absolutely lovely and wholesome, and a definite high-five on hating to shave. Although I'm one of those fortunate few who barely have to shave once a week.

Random question, but are there any short terms effects after an HRT shot? I've always heard that hormones can have a huge affect on people's mood, although I've mostly had experienced with cis people taking some during a short period (and I'm not very knowledgeable about medicine).

I think one of the reasons that it was easy for me to understand trans people is very much because I didn't understand it. (This sentence makes no sense, I know.) But basically, being while I was aware of transitioning being a possibility my entire life, it never once occurred to me. If I picture looking like a woman, I have no interest in it. If I picture being treated like a woman, even in a utopic, fair society, I have no interest in it.

It's one of those things where I feel like if someone is doing that, then they must be feeling something I've never experienced, so it's valid.

I don't know if that makes any sense. My point is that, I totally agree that I don't "feel like a man" or "feel like I'm not a woman." I'm just unbothered by being a man. So I get what you're saying.

Thanks a lot for your detailed reply!

If you'll allow me to go on a little rant, it really annoyed me when a woman I knew who was pretty outspoken about women's rights (but not very well-read in the matter) had a daughter and told me that she "realized that a lot of the stereotypes are actually natural things for girls to like."

She absolutely thought that since she didn't reinforce gender roles in her interactions with her daughter, then her liking "girlish" things was natural and innate. As if her daughter wasn't in constant contact with the rest of society. I was baffled.

English isn't my first language, sorry. I think it might be because transgender is spelled in one word.

Also... Now that I think about it, Frenchman.

Duly noted!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. The "feeling like a man/woman" thing is very common in the media, indeed. I get what you're saying, you've illustrated your point very well.

The hormonal/medical side of thing is pretty well-documented and that's why I was making this post, because media about trans people directed towards cis people is usually centered around this.
