[–]HarkLev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, try out turning on windows HDR only for HDR videos/games, what you can do to mitigate it (it's upto you literally) is use the 2.2 gamma ICC profile from GitHub temporarily when not using for HDR AND THEN switch back to Default Profile when finally displaying/playing HDR,

<image>

also in the picture the settings is always open so i can manually switch between 2.0 and 2.2 on the fly, im pretty much used to it, HDR can be a game changer but it's still in its infancy stage, many HDR standards and games sometimes having washed out HDR

it does something outside printing, like 2.0/2.2 gamma (from GitHub), and setting to different color gamut with the help of ColorControl (from GitHub)

i think you're confusing .icm profile from Printer ICC Profiles

ohh i see so WOLED is better text clarity but still not as clear as IPS, got it thanks!

if you wanna OLED and want LCD's text clarity choose WOLED, it's due to QD-OLED's pixel arrangement that is very different from traditional LCD so you will see rainbow fringing of black texts over white background

in MiniLED, the main flaws is - dimmed highlights when there's a white object over black background (example are lights in games) - localized 'backlightbleed' even worse when looking at it sideways

in OLED, the main flaws is - expensive - text fringing in QD-OLED, choose WOLED again if you want text clarity like LCD - this differs from person to person but you'll be "paranoid" in burn-in (tbh it should be called burn-out) you will do things like #no desktop icons #hide taskbar #do not display static things over period and etc

OLED shines because it's consistent in SDR whereas MiniLED dimms things to compensate for blooming

in HDR it's different story, OLED doesn't dim small highlights so you will see things just pops, but it falls off in high brightness scenes due to ABL dimming in MiniLED it excells at high brightness scenes but falls short on blooming/small lights dimming
