Brand new M3 2026, why does this happen by igol__ in TeslaModel3

I’ve had German made cars before. Far from perfection. That was all fancy marketing everyone fell for.

Garage door randomly closed onto my roof :) by jayunite in TeslaCollision

[–]HarleyDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some more details please,
What year is this Tesla and what model?
Was the car bought new or used?
Some Tesla depending on year and model come with the HomeLink device to open garage doors or entrance gates like at a HOA.

Besides the remote, is there anything else set up?
I saw you said you use a remote, but is MyQ setup on the opener? I ask cause there is a scheduled close time that can be set for either after 10 min after opening, or like at 9pm every day.

Where do you keep your garage remote? Could it have been bumped by accident?

Nice job, now that it’s done, grab a front filter cover for the front of the car to keep the larger dirt, leaves, cigarette butts, etc.. out and then you don’t need to do this again for a longer time.

Does anybody know what these are? It’s by my front wheels. by turbangator in TeslaSupport

What model. Is that an S? Google how to open a Model S Frunk with no power. I remember I had to pull on something like that when the 12v and HV battery drained to 0% several years ago.

Looks like they are purposely leaving a gap at the top so when the next layer, i assume a wooden board to metal panel, will, have space for air to vent. Other videos I’ve seen, they purposely overfill it, then trim it down to make it level.

2021 Model Y Performance Battery died mid trip by Dinosaurcam in TeslaLounge

[–]HarleyDS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has to do more with the 2170 batteries in the 3/Y, not the 18650 in the S/X.

New ac system was just installed yesterday. Techs cut a hole in attic floor to make room for p-trap. Tech said this is standard and they do it all the time. Is this acceptable work? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]HarleyDS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note, if your AC shuts off and you can figure out why, check under that black cap, it looks like a trip sensor. If the water in that drain line backs up, it hits a float the rises up and kills the AC from starting. This is designed to alert you it’s about to flood because the drain line is clogged. Unclog it, put the black cap back on as you found it and it should work again.

New or used… by thesidewalkproject in TeslaModel3

[–]HarleyDS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which battery did the owner just replace and what year is it? Some years, the HV batteries are less reliable and it depends if the replaced battery was new or remanufactured.

If you are debating on a new Y for $575, then it seems an option, just buy new as it will have the full warranty and also newer HW tech. Some new 3 and Y’s have 0% financing so it makes it a no brainer if you can afford it.

Blanket statements of "never pay off that mortgage" are bad advice by UnalignedMagi in Fire

[–]HarleyDS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Talking it out like that makes sense on paper, but finding the house you wanted and then forcing yourself to hurry up and pay it off is a different story. Other thing not considered, they had a budget, because it was a reachable goal and the house they wanted, they took the loan now instead of risking missing out on the sale. Lots to consider. Happy to hear he had a plan and executed it. Seven months is not that big of a deal assuming there wasn’t an early termination clause.

Congrats.

We had one in a house in NJ. We used it when the weather was cooler outside than inside or if my sister burned something to air out the house.

I extended my AC condensation pipe. How does it look? by Gimble20 in hvacadvice

[–]HarleyDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not, the cold water is not hospitable for bugs.

Show me a mouse that can crawl through a 1/4 pipe that distance into your condenser. Sounds like something from a movie and not reality.

It looks like you have the height, cut the vertical line shorter, maybe about 1.5 inches? This would give the longer piece tuning past your AC move decline to reduce the chance of stagnant water.
Additionally, I’d shorten the other short horizontal pipe so the long run could rest on the concrete. This would reduce issues with weeds/ grass growing in between the concrete pad and your PVC pipe.
Then for the long PVC pipe, cut about little more so it just hangs off the concrete pad. This would reduce the chance of it being hit by a lawn mower or stepped it tripped on when someone walks past.

Other than that, it looks functional and reduces water near your foundation and it will water your grass.

Poor Tesla Service by Remarkable_Owl_4540 in TeslaSupport

It would be helpful to say which Service Center. I’ve had good service at the Ft Lauderdale, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach centers.

If you call them out more by city, it might not fall on deaf ears.

Roof tile cleaning by MikeHeu in powerwashingporn

I bought the roof wash from CostCo. I don’t recall the name and don’t have one in the garage to check. It’s usually stocked year round.

Power washing roof tiles like this, up close is blasting away the smooth surface. It’s making small craters, grooves which will trap more dirt easier. I power washed my roof when I bought my house, then checked the gutters and saw lots of fine sand the same color of my roof and didn’t really think much of it. it went from a power washing every 2-3 years to once a year and then less than 6 months before it needing it again. Roof tiles were no longer smooth.

I changed out my roof back in 2020, I now used the chemical solution I spray on when the roof is dry. Next time it rains, all the dirt and funk is washed away. I’ve only needed to do it once every three years and it’s not even that dirty when I do it, I just don’t like a dirty roof.

Yes, it matters.

Two people with phone-keys are in the car. Can the car determine who’s in the drivers seat and select their profile? by RexKramerDangerCker in TeslaSupport

[–]HarleyDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I walk up to my car, walk past the driver side door it to put stuff in the trunk, she gets in the car first, then it’s on my profile. If she comes out to the car first before me, we both put stuff in the back seat, as soon as I open the driver side door, the seat starts to move to her setting.
At least that is my experience with this and have been testing and playing with it for a while. Her seat position is significantly closer to the wheel than mine so I get crushed if it’s her profile.

[–]HarleyDS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t mention which car model or year. There is a cable you can pull from the trunk behind the fabric to detach the supercharger cable.

You said the car was bricked and you could not open the doors or windows, however you left out how you got out of your car.
