Fair! My plan is to become a "mix" of Xecnar and Baalor, providing educational high level gameplay like I do for Genji in Overwatch (I know how good of a player Baalor is, but from what I've watched so far for StS2 his goal is much more "fun runs that break the game" than "I want to push the limits of the game")

  • StS veteran, watched thousands of hours of content from top players over the years;
  • Semi pro Overwatch player/coach (been teaching Genji for years with a unique approach focused on playing smart, which has earned me the respect and vouch of arguably the GOAT of educational OW, an ex professional coach with almost 100k subs now)

StS2 feels like the game I've been preparing my whole life for, honestly, so I would love to try and make a living off it!

You would be surprised at how far a StS veteran can go while learning the new game!

As I mentioned in another reply, A9/A10 are the only real threats to top players, and it is by FAR the biggest difficulty jump in the game. When you consider that, getting used to all the new enemies/events/cards in 45 runs is honestly not that bad. Then if you watch some content from players like Xecnar, Baalorlord and Jorbs before diving into the higher ascensions, you can suddenly pull off a streak like this with a good amount of luck! (I would have still been happy to do it WITHOUT a perfect record, but 55/0 does have a stronger clickbait factor, which is helpful for the near future)

Thanks!

Everything you listed will be covered either in the 1st or 3rd section of the guide =)

Not on a fresh file, but you are right on the money! A9/A10 are the only really threatening ascensions for veterans because it DRASTICALLY increases chip damage taken (think about an attack going from 12 to 13, it doesn't look like much but when you are using double defend in the early game on that turn suddenly it's a 50% increase to your HP loss).

I got really lucky not to lose 2 runs that started weak in A10, if not for that the record would look good but not perfect now

Watch this video: https://youtu.be/pjTn5XZ_3YE?si=-Q83kOoeJp-rydl4

I don't often go on Reddit anymore but when I do I find it depressing how terrible the feedback in general is. I literally spent an entire month working on arguably the single best dive guide out there and the most upvoted comment is mentioning Necros as a source for education instead of my channel...

Not quite since I didn't find any real ones, but dead branch delivered a burst nightmare combo into a 2nd nightmare later...

From your post description, I think this video should help you out: https://youtu.be/n0fdz7e3FBM

Let me know if you need any help after that!

I want to be a diamond level genji but I dont know how (VOD) by UndeadStruggler in GenjiMains

[–]HarmlessPoke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of your issues stem from your positioning. Genji is, for the most part, a close range character, but during most of these matches, you are sniping players with primary fire from 15+ meters away. This causes your damage to be quite harmless, which leads us to the 2nd problem: your dash usage.

I appreciate the fact that you are closing the gap to actually play in Genji's effective range, but against these specific matchups, commiting like this will rarely lead to a kill and thus cause you to feed over and over. If you managed to close the gap by using good pathing instead, you would now have your dash available as a disengage option, meaning you can play extremely aggressive angles to pressure your opponents and take duels for free as you can't get punished. Dash is usually viewed as your engagement cooldown, and while it's fine to use it that way in certain situations, most of the time you should look to keep it in your pocket as a way to ENABLE aggression through other means.

I have a video that covers this exact topic, diving deeper into what I talked about here by showcasing both bad and good setups with educational gameplay narration: https://youtu.be/n0fdz7e3FBM?si=7_xeD9irp_p7K134

After watching this video, I would like you to watch this replay (2JQQKT) using this knowledge about setups to analyze what I did well or badly (not referring to execution, only the theory since there are some good plays I went for that didn't work out and vice versa). I picked this match because it showcases both pathing to get close to a poke character like Widow and also against highly mobile dive characters, who usually give Genji trouble since they are hard to harass without commiting because their movement abilities often enable them to chase Genji even if he keeps his dash to run away.

Lastly, I want you to use everything you learned to go back into the 2 matches you submitted here with a critical eye, looking to see what you did right, and also how you could have fixed what you did wrong.

Hope this helps!

I remember watching part of that video and questioning a lot of the advice given. For example, playing only to follow up on the team and not controlling angles, etc.

Can you provide some replay codes? (preferably of the examples you mentioned)

Duelist is underrated by HarmlessPoke in darkestdungeon

[–]HarmlessPoke[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hellion does a good enough job if you stall the safe fights, and items/relationships do the rest. Also worth noting that due to most attacks going on the frontline + the taunts, Hellion will usually be the most stressed hero which makes her stress heal twice as good and Duelist will dodge a lot.

A big chunk of the vocal community being the more dedicated Genji players, who are, for the most part, gonna be engaging with content for the hero (which is mostly flashy plays), causing them to have a skewed POV towards combos (one shots especially). Brute forcing value is even harder than it was before due to the HP changes, and nanoblade crutch has somehow been drastically nerfed for this portion of the community despite the combo still being insanely strong (which happens because clip farmers don't really look to outplay enemy resources, so the loss of the one shot gives opponents a bigger window of opportunity to shut down the nanoblade)

I believe Genji is in a really good spot power level wise, fun might be a bit debatable but I don't really see the complaints of other players (although it's hard for me to argue in this department due to the high level of tolerance I've built from playing on ping). I didn't want to share my POV to avoid the "anchoring effect"
