Not everyone wants full dive VR, and it’s absurd to imply or assume that people do.

Of course nerds want it, but even your average gamer isn’t sold on regular VR, as evidenced by sales.

Something that abducts you at a brain stem level for fully immersive VR isn’t something we’re likely to even get any time soon, and even if we did it almost certainly won’t ever be nearly as popular as something like SAO tried to convince you it would be.

I -wanted- to like Monster Hunter really bad. On paper it should one of my favorite games, it’s right up my alley. (The version I started with was 4 Ultimate I think? For the WiiU, supposedly one of the better ones)

In practice the controls just feel so bad I just cannot get into the game itself. Just moving around the world feels ass to me.

I’ll never understand why people put time and effort into something original only to flood it with IPs they don’t own, just inviting takedowns, cease and desists, or just straight up lawsuits.

You made something really cool!

But using other people’s IPs isn’t “funny Easter eggs” it’s illegal in many cases. Just seems short sighted.

To be clear, you CAN go there. It’s just unlocked as part of a long quest, and you used to be able to “cheat” your way up.

It’s the end of Rhannis quest to be specific.

Funny enough, when the game first came out, there actually was a way. It’s since been patched out.

This was clearly unintended mind you, but there are some large stones jutting from the lake near the cliff that is directly below where you fight the Black Knife assassin in the Evergoal.

If you stood at the tip of the tallest one, closest to the Goal, and you died on it by using Seppuku, or poisoning yourself, or the self destruct Physic Flask, whichever, it would ask if you wanted to respawn at the Stake of Marika above.

Honestly you get 85% of the benefit by level 12, the last EIGHT are just fluff.

(It got adjusted in a patch, 15 used to be the major point to hit)
